Grimhound's PC Bug List (Ever-growing)

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:15 am

One more for the list:

-I removed Arcade Gannon from my party while in the Lucky 38 suite. He had crippled limbs (unsure if that's relevant or not, but it's the first time that's happened to a companion). Now when speaking to him I have the "what are your thoughts on the current situation" and "tell me about yourself" dialogue options, but not the "join me again" option.

It's not a bug the thing I'm submitting now. It's more like a recommendation and is companion related. In the companion wheel we can use our current companion's inventory to store things and see how much weight it can carry. But while transferring stuff, in the window indicating which things the companion has, there is no indication how much weight of the companion's inventory remains - only the window of my stuff has.

Just want to add my 2 cents:

During the wild card quest, after my first encounter yes-man I returned to the tops casino but he's nowhere to be found. quest marker points me into the casino then when I'm inside, it points me out again. I've searched the 13th floor and the gaming floor with no luck, and can't continue a main quest.

I on seperate occasions I have sent ED-E and Rex back to the 38 only to have them head off for Primm and Freeside.

Achievements seems glitched all to hell. sometimes I get one fro drinking water or dismembering someone, sometimes I don't. also, I unlocked the "gangs all here" (aqquire all companions) without actually doing so (missing veronica)

trying to get to hoover dam at the moment (this may not be a bug but it's bad design) the quest marker leads me straight into an unscalable cliff face, and I have no idea how to get around.

BoS quest where you have to choose to help hardin or stick with original elder, some of the dialogue doesn't trigger. I found this out when I reloaded a save and was presented with new dialogues that had not been there a moment before.

seriosly guys. I stuck with the glitchy oblivion and fallout 3, but this is hands down the most buggy on release game I have ever played. I get a little more fustrated everytime I play. I regret preordering now, and wished I'd waited for you guys to get all the bugs out so I could enjoy the game without crashes, reloads because events don't trigger, and mentally challenged companions who wander off or attack things I'm nowhere near and have no interest in.

My issue (that seems to be unique, so far) is my textures are set to the lowest quality and no matter what i do, they won't change back to high, or even medium.

I've tried using the launcher to change it, using the pause menu settings in-game and even reinstalling the game didn't solve it.

Anyone having any idea what's going on? If you do, could you please get back to me?

Cheers.

This is my thread on the matter: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1129688-textures-stuck-on-low/

Also When doing the "That Lucky Old Sun" quest and in good standing with the NCR...minor spoilers here....

Spoiler

After resetting the link with the main frame on the (I believe) West mirror array, when going to the East mirror array there are NCR hounds mulling around the tent that become hostile one they detect you (I was good standings with the NCR and wearing NCR armor). At this point if you choose to kill them or have one follow you when you run away the NCR goes ape[censored] crazy and starts attacking you. My way around this was to stealth boy in, quickly use the terminal and get out of there. The dogs still went hostile but I shut the doors on my way out and none followed. No problems with the NCR at that point.

Just an FYI.

When I did the quest, the dogs weren't there at first. They only showed up after I finished the quest for some reason.

Bug with ammo boxes. To reproduce:

(1) Buy more than one ammo box of the same type
(2) Go to your inventory in the PipBoy
(3) Drop ONE of the ammo boxes
(4) Exit PipBoy
(5) Pick up ammo
(5) Return to Inventory
(6) Remaining ammo box(es) are gone from inventory

Simple work around:

Drop all ammo boxes of one type at the same time.

I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but Caravan cards purchased from vendors are not automatically added to your Caravan deck.

Workaround (based on gamefaqs post):

Manually add/remove them to any container, and they should be properly added to your deck.

Ok. 24 Hours in, running Win 7 64 with latest Catalyst 10.10a drivers on a HD5850/i5 760.

1. I can confirm the Cowboy Repeater bug, it does in fact prevent you from doing anything. I've only every had it happen after reloading, and it can be fixed by changing the view with the "F" key and then back again.

2. Also at the "Upgrade House" console in the Lucky 38 Penthouse, when you access "Upgrade" and it opens the buy menu, the menu mouse detection seems to be off on the right side, it's really hard for me to properly select items.

3. In Camp McCarran, the cook guy in the concourse asks you to fix their food machine. He gives you a parts list of the items you need to collect to correctly repair the machine. I've collected ALL the parts on that list, double checked, correct quantities, and when I try to repair it still tells me "You do not have all the required parts". Can someone else verify this?

EDIT: Also had a bug when I took Boone's beret. He said "I want that back" or something similar, and so I gave it back via inventory transfer. I then noticed I somehow now had two of those berets, so I gave him one and kept the other :P

Has anyone replicated this problem (with the cowboy repeater or any other weapon with individual round-loading animations) who isn't using the "Trigger Discipline" trait? They might be linked.

Let's see, my personal (incomplete) list:

-McCarran Food Processor repair dialog bug: The parts consumed when you repair the food processor are identical to the list you're given for this unmarked quest. However, the dialogue box for the repair requires that you have two pots in your inventory, not one, even though only one is used in the repair and only one is listed as necessary in the note for the quest.

-Camp Forlorn corpses: Several dead NCR troopers in the minefield south of Camp Forlorn Hope were "alive" and "Hostile", despite missing limbs and being totally unresponsive, and despite my being idolized with the NCR.

-NPCs stuck in combat mode: This has only become a problem once. During the "Beyond The Beef" quest, the rescued NPC would sometimes grab a knife and go into combat mode even though I'd completed the quest without turning the White Gloves hostile to that point. This meant that he would refuse to follow me out of the members-only dining room, and would just run around with his knife out, not attacking anyone since the white gloves were still friendly. Reloading the sequence several times eventually avoided this behavior.

Confirmed/verified for all bugs listed. I finally snapped and got my repair up for that damn processor; just because I wanted to see if it would use my items with the repair skill. Still no go, I checked and tripple checked to see if I had right quantities. At one point I went back with 10 of each item to make sure and it still didn't work.

The upgrade house terminal in the lucky 38 is a joke. Clearly shows that this game had no form of internal testing what so ever. That terminal has the highest chance to be clicked on by anyone playing the game. The only reason it would remain broken like that is because no one ever bothered playing the game before releasing it.

The cowboy repeater/trail carbine and any other lever action weapons have this extremely annoying problem. The guns fire just like the others but come reload time it feels like I have 5000 ping and I'm playing counterstrike. This bug happens every single time a lever action rifle is reloaded. Which further leads me to believe no one bother any internal testing on this game because lever action rifles are everywhere; one of the earliest weapons you get.

A whole plethora of bugs/glitches/disapearing NPCs/broken quest and waypoint markers. All of them in mccaran airport.

I had about half a dozen major problems prop up at that place. It is by far the most broken zone in the entire game. I posted a specific post a few days ago regarding this.

Also the quest where you are asked to find workers for the atomic wrangler. That quest is highly prone to errors and 8 times out of 10 it broke on me and I had to load a previous file. The problems with it also similar to the mccaran glitches where as required NPCs are removed from the game and the waypoint/questmarker just loops into and out of the same door.

Michael Angelo pays me twice when I finish his quest. When I first initiate conversation he says something and instantly pays me 700 caps. Then I selected the "you said something about a reward" conversation option and he pays me another 500 caps. Also, the Bison Bill hotel or whatever it's called has two signs that look the same except that one rotates. The camera will only register for the non-rotating one for the quest.

There is a trader who roams outside the gate of the NCR air field (McClaren or whatever) who won't trade. He'll only say his one-liner, no conversation ever starts.

When using the camera, people around me react as if I was shooting a gun.

I have yet to see an NPC willing to offer money in a game of caravan. I am almost done with the game I think. Taking a break right now to savor the last bit but so far in my travels through the game not 1 npc offered money in caravan.

That is really hugely disappointing.

THIS! I've seen that guy and he never trades with me.

Somtimes I've seen him in front of the crimson caravan and he doesn't trade me there either.

I'm going to snipe him out and see whats in his inventory.

Stuck at Boulder City on "They went that -a-way quest". Told Lt I would sneak in and rescue soldiers. Went into town but no one except bartender and a NCR soldier at the memorial. Went back to Lt because I noticed quest direction pointer still points to him. No further options from him.

That's because the quest pointer is not pointing at the Lt but instead to the door beside him.

I moved some widows husband from a spot near RPPCOM or whatever its called, hes some ranger guy. So I dragged his body like 200 feet to some ncr guys and they said that they would give him a proper burial.

So I went back to the widow that can be found in McCarran and guess what? No freaking reward! I didn't get jack crap, no reward, no rep, no nothing.

All of the broken quests that I've played in have been from McCarran.

1. The snipers that you ask help from for the bounty, BROKEN. didn't get their help at all as they used me for "bait". As I solo'd the mission. Where they went I'll never know.

2. Widow asking to move her husband, broken, no reward whatsoever for the amount of effort involved.

3. The cook asking for help, repair this, get meat, get spices, did it all and didn't get crap. He still want's the quest items from the same people that I ALREADY gave him.

4. The NCR bastards in the tents in the front of the building keep shooting rex when I walk through the tent area with him as a companion. Wtf is up with that?

All this, from Camp McCarran. THey should rename it Camp McBroken instead.

That place is broken beyond repair. It's like they never even finished developing it. Either the quests are completely broken, or don't net any form of reward. I spent a massive amount of time trying to help the weapons/ammo dealer all the way in the back. In the end of it, not only did I not receive any form of reward, but he told me he now has to charge me more for the goods he has to sell. Look honestly I remember off the top my head 6-12 things that are 100% broken in that place. It's so lengthy I don't even want to post it.

Their is no chance in hell this game had any form of internal testing let alone trouble shooting. I am willing to wager that they didn't even let the new vegas developement team play the game all the way through because they would have surely noticed all the things that are broken. At the end of the day I always tell myself I rather get to play the game a month early with some problems then have to wait until christmas for a release. But this game is the only game I can't say that about. It's not like it's a few minor glitches. I'm 50+ hours into the game right now and I've encountered 50+ game breaking issues. From losing companions, to quests becoming impossible to complete, to quest items that weigh 10g being stuck in my inventory after the quest is done. The year is 2010 in which games, especially of this magnitude that have multiple variables, require internal testing. At the very least have your staff and development team play the game through from start to finish...

I actually tried to go ahead and finish the game last night because I wanted to give it a rest and wait for some patches. You know what happens? I did exactly as house asked and when I went back to the penthouse, the entire room turns hostile for no reason what so ever. I slaughter my way through to house and he tells me why I betrayed him? Spent my entire gaming running after this guy and making sure I did exactly what he asked so I could see the ending... In the end I had to slaughter him, caeser, ncr... Just to finish the game.

I got to Vault 22 and took the elevator down to the level below Oxygen Scrubbing (or whatever it's called). As soon as the door opens, both my companions (Arcade and Rex) are there. Huh? I have had them parked in my hotel room for hours and hours. I just left them there with a "wait for me here" command. Why are they randomly showing up in Vault 22??

I've had aggro problems with Rex today. After I got through talking to the Colonel Moore at the Dam, she attacked him. Also, the Quartermaster (can't remember his name) attacked Rex after I closed the barter menu. Then later, the Colonel attacked him again after I waited in her office. It's kind of irritating.

Yeah, I found that out when I was there. I think the door is scripted to check for followers and port them up and down with you so they won't the stairs and run through the areas and die, but it doesn't check if they are set to follow or not.

I've had a lot of aggro problems with Rex, usually with generic NPCs.

im on the mission "still in the dark"

where you have to speak with elder mcnamara in the command room.

Problem is that he is just stuck standing in the middle of hidden valley bunker level 1 and wont move...

Is there any way to fix this?

thats a screen shot that elder mcnamara standing : http://i51.tinypic.com/2mgs1w3.jpg

notes:
I have tried leaving the area and coming back, loading an earlier save, restarting the game, almost anything you can think of.

The bugs i experienced (some of them were already mentioned):

-Can't activate Raul Tejada chat after talking to Ranger Andy on Novac (did all Novac quests before getting Raul as companion)
-I did a rambo incursion on Black Mountain after hearing the broadcast and killed everyone, and after killing Tabitha, Neil teleported literally in front of me, thanked me as if i met him before (I didn't) and proceeded to stand in the same place forever.
-Unable to defuse the Bomb at the monorail, it bolted down the tracks as soon as i opened the station door, luckily i hadn't checked vault 3 to save the Ranger Anders (see below), and that gave me enough thanks from Hsu to send the support for the "No, Not Much" quest.
-Ranger Anders was not at the Vault.....So i proceeded to kill everyone inside, consequently failing quests i didn't even pick up. When i returned, Hsu thanked me as if i had saved the Ranger and several days later, Ranger Andy appeared at the camp, and talked to me as if he was still inside Vault 3
-As soon as i shoot a Lakelurk, their life bar disappears
-Sneaking in front of sleeping NPC's shows as "Detected" (65 sneak skill, but that shouldn't be the problem)
-Deathclaws inside the Quarry have some serious path-finding issues, they get stuck in everything (Thank God!)
-Companions tend to get stuck in mountains
-Several crashes to desktop, most times after fast travel
