Grimhound's PC Bug List (Ever-growing)

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:04 pm

I'm not sure, but I'm gonna say this is a bug:

On the quest for Cass where you find out who is responsible for taking out her caravan and others, you can pursue a non-violent solution by finding evidence in both the Crimson Caravan and VanGraff's safes. You can steal the key for the safe from the Crimson Caravan boss and open her safe, however taking the VanGraff key will not help you get into the safe (and it is a Very Hard lock, compared to the caravan's Average lock safe).

EDIT: I forgot these too:

-Reloading animation is screwed up for the grenade launcher (not rifle)

-I wiped out Nelson before even discovering Camp Forlorn Hope and finished the main quest there (the major congratulated me on wiping them out all by myself). But, I'm wondering, aren't NCR forces supposed to move into nelson? The only things in Nelson now are legion mongrels.

-I think the unmarked quest for the McCarrin quartermaster is bugged, I made the deal w/ the disguised ranger and the quartermaster but nothing else has come of it.

I can confirm the Cowboy Repeater "stuck" and the close range shotgun issues as well..also Chris down in the REPCONN basemant doesn't take all the rocket souvenirs when you retrieve the igniter component, as they are quest items and can't be sold/dropped.

- In Mr.House's Presidential suite when I attempt to purchase items for the place the computer use for purchasing does not function correctly.

I've got the same bug, and I managed to get around it by moving my mouse to the direct right of the COST of the items I want to buy.

Here are some more of mine:

-The first quest for the Van Graffe's is bugged; most of the characters that you talk to as a guard have to be talked to twice. This is somewhat exploitable as you can get the XP rewards for dialog successes twice.
-I had repeated, unavoidable freezing while waiting for Chauncey (I think that's his name) in the Ultra-Luxe's steam room. Eventually just gave up on that part of the quest and loaded an older save.
-Lily will say her "Don't worry dear, Grandma knows how to stay quiet" line over and over again while I'm sneaking. She also doesn't crouch.

So Grimhound, you planning on updating that first post with all the information we've all gathered together? If not, maybe someone who's willing to keep a list of bugs in the first post should start a new thread? It'd be a lot of work, but would probably make things easier for everyone.

The female version of the Powder Gangers Soldier Armor is one size too big. I have a gap between the bottom of the neck and the shirt

Originally this was just going to be a list of bugs I personally encounter that I continue updating. I'm a bit floored at how many others have posted in this thread. If I get the chance I'll go through and confirm as many as I can, then use the original post as a reference for dual evidence.

Man, I wouldn't bother with confirming - just put a disclaimer that you haven't confirmed them yourself or something. That sounds like an enormous amount of work, and you've got a game to play.

I have found a couple of issues.

1) Buying more than one version of the same caravan card causes my game to crash.
2) The game tends to crash if I ever win more than 10k caps at the atomic wrangler. I have not tried this in another casino yet.

Also When doing the "That Lucky Old Sun" quest and in good standing with the NCR...minor spoilers here....

Spoiler

After resetting the link with the main frame on the (I believe) West mirror array, when going to the East mirror array there are NCR hounds mulling around the tent that become hostile one they detect you (I was good standings with the NCR and wearing NCR armor). At this point if you choose to kill them or have one follow you when you run away the NCR goes ape[censored] crazy and starts attacking you. My way around this was to stealth boy in, quickly use the terminal and get out of there. The dogs still went hostile but I shut the doors on my way out and none followed. No problems with the NCR at that point.

Just an FYI.

Also ran into the crafting containers at the Lucky 38 respawn so I lost all my crafting stuff unless I loaded a much older save game. :( Found a fix on Nexus for it though and got my stuff back!

Sounds odd. I went in, shot each dog to head, used terminal and NCR did not react in any way.

I had the problem with NCR going hostile on me after shooting the dogs. I had to reload the game.

I had that happen one time, where I killed the already-hostile dogs and the NCR went hostile. I reloaded and killed the dogs again, and this time they didn't go hostile.

After using Speech checks to get Karl to embarrass himself in front of Papa Khan, Karl gets up to run away, and the Khans kill him. My quest log updates, saying that I should return with the news that I've killed all of the Khans.

Something that has crippled my game - NCR Rangers ALWAYS attack me, I am idolized by NCR. No matter what armour I wear, even if its NCR (they can see through it afaik).

No idea why this has happened. Its only rangers cos normal soldier like me.

Spoiler
could it be after telling the ranger in BoS base to leave? (I didnt kill him)

Here's my major bugs so far:

Doing Boone related quest brought me to "I Don't Hurt Anymore" but the First Recon at Fort McCann opened fire on Rex. He has always been set on Aggressive but not to NCR peeps. He did not attack just went unconcious over and over.

I finally got the Gobi Sniper Rifle but the thing is practically worthless outside of 15 ft. As an example I was assaulting the Powder Gangers at the NCR prison. I could not target the tower guard while standing below him right next to the tower. Maybe a 20 ft shot and vats would give me no more than 2% chance to hit any part of his body with that named sniper rifle. I can't hit anything manually with it from any descent range either. I now give it to Boone and hand him some shells when we do a tricky mission. He does fine with it.

"Come Fly Away"
When talking to Chris on the intercom after getting rid of the NightKin, part of the dialog sounds live (i.e. not through the intercom).

When Crafting, trying to scroll through the list of ingredients needed on the right, clicking sound occurs, then does not change even when selecting another item to craft.

Not bugs but should be addressed:
Caravan Cards need to be stacked, similar to Keyring

There is a wandering merchant outside of mohavie(?) outpost when i try to buy from him it crashes. I found if i buy one item at a time I am able to make all of my purchased but once I exit and try to save it crashes.

Yes!
Thank you Cathar.
Down in the S/W corner (where the big statues shaking hands are) right?
I do my business with that guy, everything good...
But then I cannot save (quick, auto or manual) without game crash!
Everything has been good for me until this... I just hit Level 8.
So I'm stuck - what am I supposed to do now!?
Aarghhh...

Stuck at Boulder City on "They went that -a-way quest". Told Lt I would sneak in and rescue soldiers. Went into town but no one except bartender and a NCR soldier at the memorial. Went back to Lt because I noticed quest direction pointer still points to him. No further options from him.

Leveled as I exited a building by lockpicking. Companion got in a fight immediately and I moved to help. Missed level up screen (and I really wanted those skill points to finish a couple of quests).

Reloaded a save before I lockpicked and did not help when companion got in fight. Got the level up screen but lost the keyboard. Saving and reloading game does not fix the lost keyboard problem.

Hehehe, that one got me too!! There is a door to transition to another area right next to the Lt. LOL

Thats a bug with them NOT being entered into your deck when you find / purchase them. You have to give your card to a companion, then exit out of the interface, then re-add the card from your companions inventory to yours. The card should then enter into your deck.
