Gun's or Energy Weapons?

All of the above, because variety is the spice of death.

Guns fit a western style that I like in fallout.
Especially revolvers and repeaters :D

Energy weapons are sort of lame to me, I'm VERY glad we won't be forced end-game to use them or a rifle. I like a variety of the smaller weapons such as pistols :).

A revolver or a boomstick depending on the situation.

What's the use of melee when a shotgun can blow your face off guaranteed, or a handgun not letting you get close?

Melee is for stealth-based characters, mutants, and crazy people. Explosives are too loud and destructive. Nukes and orbital cannons are dumb.
Energy weapons sound expensive and heavy,

And I bet I can take out any sniper when my skill is Western Movie Protagonist-grade.

My only companions will be Smith, Wesson, and Remington.

No Preference would probably be the most accurate. By the time all is said and done, I'll do a playthrough focused on every type of combat available in the game.

Although probably one each for melee and unarmed, and scads of ranged combat. Still, I'll give everything a go.

I like them both. Energy are the most powerful, guns are more varied.

Fear not Erebos, for there exists a Wattz 2000 styled laser rifle in Fallout New Vegas as prophecized by the mighty "Gamespot Story Interview". It looks like it's going to be relatively weak, though that should be expected since it's a civilian model going up against a military model.

Guns. The energy weapons, to me anyways, feel like toys. Also they don't offer a significant damage boost over old fashioned boomsticks to warrant their use.

I'd use them if they did way more damage than their projectile-firing equivalents, though. Like, twice the damage or something like that.

Oh, and I also like to blow -beep- up.

You people use primitive weapons that are essentially pipes channeling an explosion to throw little pebbles to and fro. How delightfully quaint. :twirl:

From what I've seen it seems like energy weapons might be differentiated from guns more in NV because of damage threshold. Plasma weapons, for example, have a low rate of fire but do lots of damage per hit, so they'll be better at punching through armor, whereas automatic guns will work well against soft targets due to their high rate of fire.

Since it looks like I will have my long wished for full auto laser rifle in New Vegas, I am gonna be an energy weapons man, cant wait to stomp around the Mojave wasteland wearing Advanced Power Armor and toting that bad boy around! http://uk.gamespot.com/showcases/fallout-newvegas?sid=6276249&overridePid=959559 its around 00:29

i voted both,

small guns have a lot of ammo availability and move variety and easy to repair .

but i've found that against some enemies, energy weapons cause more damage than small guns even though they have less damage points

and my small guns and energy weapons skills were even

We where never forced to use Energy Weapons endgame. I did the whole plot of F3 with Small Guns alone

Either melee (throwing spears suddenly offer range) or explosives. With the grenade launcher, it looks like you can have someone who's ONLY weapon skill is explosives. I like this. I like this a lot. Grenades, dynamite, mines, a grenade launcher and perhaps a missile launcher. I need the Overture of 1812 playing at all times.

They should put Nitroglycerin Vials in the game. If you fall from a 2nd story of a building with NitroVials in your inventory you blow up. Anyway Guns & Explosives, what more does one need to survive in a post apocalyptic world.

Energy weapons. I just love rayguns in general.

In Fallout 1 and 2 energy weapons were very powerful, but you couldn't get any decent ones until the last third of the game, which was disapointing to those that tagged Energy Weapons skill! In fallout 3 laser weapons were a bit disapointing, but the plasma was nice and powerful. And I loved disintergrating/gooifying enemies.

I'm afraid that to me it just looked like a semi-auto laser rifle where the player was pressing the trigger rapidly. A shame as I too would like a fully automatic laser rifle. Even if the damage was low. It would be like a perfectly accurate assault rifle or SMG, where you keep the beam on the enemy to continuously do damage.

Don't you pull a Gabriel77Dan, aka No fun for anyone man, that looked very much like a fully automatic laser rifle, WITH low damage, seeing how he was just shooting the crap out of that one guy.

The man before you is correct
it is not a fully automatic laser rifle
it is the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Wattz_2000_laser_rifle_(Fallout:_New_Vegas)
a civilian version of the laser rifle
and those repeating shots you mention, those are just VATS shots with the rifle

also, its not very kind to make such remarks about Mr.Fish

No preference, but I will be using mainly Guns, Energy Weapons, or Explosives at first (melee and unarmed were just not fun at all in Fallout 3).
