Gun's or Energy Weapons? : Fallout: New Vegas

i always liked small guns, ammo was more common and easy to repair.

I'm thinking energy weapons got tweaked for the better so maybe ill switch it up.

I don't really see the big fuzz about Energy Weapons, they give me no feeling of satisfaction whatsoever. Watching a Raider get turned into a puddle of green goo is cool, but it is SO much better seeing blood spurt from their limbs as your bullets plunge deep into their flesh. Energy Weapons were a must in Fo1 and 2, but pretty meh this time around, like in Fo3. Guns are the way to go!

ClashWithReality what are you talking about? Energy Weapons only has 4 kinds of ammo in FO3 while Small Guns have several kinds some of which are pretty expensive and rare until late game.

I go with guns because I love them and there are alot more. I do love blowing things up as well. With every Fallout character I make for every fallout game. I don't start raising my energy skill till later in the game.

Energy Weapons all the way. Guns are fun too, but my characters are all about the lasers and plasma at heart. Pulse weapons have a place too, but I don't think we'll be seeing them this time around. There's just something satisfying about seeing you enemies turn into ash. Of course, watching your Minigun shred your enemies is nice too. I'm just going to say both I guess.

My preference tends to drift towards Guns, there is just something about the sweet smell of burnt gun powder.

I also really love Energy Weapons (Particularly Laser Rifles) so I have a pretty equal love for both sides of the coin. :tops:

And i agree about the energy weapons I found it unusually easy to find ammo for them in F3.

Meesa will use Guns, And use the TGM to make the BoS an energy weapon armory and the NCR a guns armory with melee.

Style-wise/Most used: Guns, mostly either some sort of Assault Rifle or Sniper for long range, sometimes I use a shotgun for CQC

Stat-wise: Energy weapons. No doubt are the best/tied with Big Guns, but in FO3 they look pretty gay. Still, if I'm fighting heavy Enclave forces and need heavier firepower, Energy guns are better.

I really like both
In FO3 the weapons I used most were Lincoln's Repeater and A3-21's plasma rifle
but if I really had to choose
I'd pick energy weapons, there's something about seeing a regular gun design then seeing an energy weapon variant that just makes me like it more

What's the difference between guns and energyweapons, besides aesthetics? I mean, there's huge amount of weapons but (so far as we know) only 1 type of damage and only 1 type of DT, so with that in mind eitherones will do the same just fine.

Voted for "no preference".

What are you talking about Gabriel? He didn't mention ammo at all, and was just saying he thinks bullets are more satisfying than energy beams.
And I'd have to wholeheartedly agree with him there.

I understood it as "Small Guns were vastly better than Energy Weapons in FO3".
And therefor explained one of the upsides with EW, the vast amount of ammo.
But I agree that EW's were kinda meh with their effects.
IMO plasma weapons should be able to turn just the head or just the arm or half the body to goo and not just the entire body.
Same with ashes from laser weapons.

guns, but i like the telsa cannon and gauss rifle, but if i had to decide between them all it would be the CAR, (chinese assault rifle)

But now that the flamer and fire based weaponry is considered energy weapons, on a top of laser and plasma. I think energy weapons will hold a place in one of my character's hearts.
