Homosixuality in New Vegas

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:02 pm

I honestly don't think I would. I mean, I can't say I wouldn't try it out or something, but I feel like it would sort of take something away from the game. I don't want the characters to fit my lifestyle, I want to merge into the life of the character. If the character is male, he's probably straight. Why change that? I usually play as a female in these types of games anyway.

It should still be an option though. (if they are going to add relation-shippy things, that is)

I suppose I'd say that I really don't care either way.

Sure, why not? Like I said in my original post, they can go ahead. It's not like I'm going to complain about it, I just probably wouldn't use it.

But 'not using the gay option' would amount to not having a perk that gives you special dialogue with same-six NPC's, that would get what you want from that NPC (info and stuff). I don't know why (or how) anyone wouldn't use it.

Fallout is trying to tell a story and convey the experience of a post-apocalyptic society in a survival aspect.

six and relationships are an inherent part of society, so it's normal that they will be touched upon in the game. I don't want BioWare-style romance subplots, though.

Anyway, I think it would be best to have a perk called "six Appeal" (available to both genders), just like the trait in Fallout 2, and ditch the combat part of the perk(s) from FO3.

I think you're worrying more about where you next meal or drink of water is coming from rather than babes. Plus, I can't imagine there would be the kind of *cough* hygiene and grooming that I'm used to. xD

I imagine it would be more prevalent in a post apocalyptic setting. Women would be much more scarce in a world where courtship has gone out the window and brute strength is the rule.

If not scarce, atleast more reserved for those in higher positions of power.

Depends on your personal opinion really, I can't imagine the typical social view-point of marriage, kids and a family would really appeal to many people in the Fallout Universe, nor would it exist plainly for all to see. Some people might not even know what the definition of a family is. Honestly, in that position I see myself more as a survivalist, other people are just a liability.

What you're also suggesting is that people would share the common goal of reproducing and preserving the Human race, I'd imagine most people would want to forget it and just survive.

Remember though, that this is 200 some odd years after the war, and civilization (except on the east coast :P) is rebuilding itself rather well.

In a post apocalyptic setting, people would have six with whoever was available.

Well, in fallout 2 you could try and ask out Phylis if you were female, but I don't think it ever succeeded.... Why Not I say.

Catamites and bare footed pregnant women all around for the illiterate barbarians of the wasteland!

Think American prison on a grand scale in regards to six.

In Fallout 2, Davin and Miria are both bisixual. I think it was the first game to actually feature a gay wedding. Shotgun wedding, but still.

And in Fallout 3 Flak (and I'm pretty sure his business partner/friend) was gay.

I agree with this suggestion, but I say instead of going for perks that grant these options, just have a perk that grants the options for both genders, even if the lines for each gender differ slightly. Basically, Lady Killer and Black Widow in one, without the options being restricted to the opposite six. I don't see why not. The six in Fallout is pretty subtle anyway.

To subtle in my opinion, I mean, Novally literally slept with you :P I realize a well done six scene like the first Mass Effect had wouldn't work to well in this type of game, it's not in the same cinematic art direction. But it would be nice to have some indication of what's going on.

I was working on a mod for a while and I planned to have some sixual encounters in it, here's how I was going to do it: You'd talk to the person, in this case a prosttute. The screen fades to black and the cheesiest "porm music" you've ever heard starts playing. Then the screen fades back in and the game resumes.

An entertaining and non-offensive (I'm not going on a whole six is not offensive rant again) way to portray six in a game.

Fallout 2 for example had much more sixual themes than 3 did, you could even become a pormstar for gods sake. I realise why Bethesda might want to take a more conservative stance on it from a business standpoint, and I don't blame them for it. That's how the world is today, blowing someone's head off is fine, but boobs are the work of the devil.

Still though, I'd like more sixual themes in NV if possible. If the world was destroyed like that in real life, we'd all need some stress relief.

I'd say no just to avoid the flak that's going to come with six in videogames, i mean fallout 3 didn't have nearly as much sixual conten as FO1 or 2, it's just bethesda's MO to avoid having six in there games, think about mass effect and all the idiots spouting off about how it was corrupting children who shouldn't even have acess to the game and the scene in mass affect was nothing but it caused a lot of bad press and probably hurt sales a little.

That is unfortunately true. And I wish more companies would choose to take a stance, but they're a business and so I don't blame them for looking out for their own interests, we all do. But this whole "six is bad" thing needs to end. I'd rather my kids (when I have them) know the truth about six than to try to "protect" them from the most natural and beautifull thing in the world. But society doesn't seem to agree with me.

Thats just an assumption. There was never any real proof that they were gay. I assumed that they were brothers, or just friends. Of course, they could be... :P

I think you mean American politicians and corporations don't agree with you.

I have never met a person in my life that didn't enjoy six. I've met a few that didn't enjoy it with me, but that's another story entirely :goodjob:

Oh trust me, there are plenty of people who think any six in the media is "teh satan"

This is getting political, but this particular topic really gets to me.

The slaver calls Flak him an "old queen", pretty much confirming that he is gay.

Sure why not?
There was forced male homosixuality in Fallout 2, though it was way too hilarious to be taken seriously. :D

There should a homosixually-oriented gang at least. and it should revolve around the exclusion of mutants. They could call it "No Mutants Allowed"

Ah there's nothing like hidden cross-site bashing eh? :stare:

This is not a good idea for Many, many reasons - primarily because (like the sixual stuff) it is Not needed to sell a good video game. Why add something to a video game that the majority of the population might be offended by? What would the point of adding it to the game be? Realism?!

I have a gay best friend so this is not any issue for me personally, but I think it would be a Very bad idea to add it to any video game like this - it would just hurt the game's sales in the end.
