Homosixuality in New Vegas

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:45 pm

I don't want to get into a big debate about rather it's wrong or right, but please hear me out...

In Fallout 3 as a female character you sometimes had dialog or gameplay options to imply that your character was a lisbian, such as the "I was just dreaming about you" comment with Amata or hiring Nova at Moriarty's Saloon. I would like it if Fallout: New Vegas expanded more on this with both genders. Like for example if you had another perk like the Lady Killer/Black Widow, maybe it could extend to certain NPCs of the same gender who are attracted to your character, but only certain NPCs because realistically not every NPC should be like that.

I think it would be a cool idea.

Personally? I think it should be in.

But in the 50s homosixuals were severely frowned/kicked upon.

I agree. I'd likely not use it much myself, I tend to play male characters and roleplay them similar to myself (Straight). But I absolutely support this regardless.

But in the 50s homosixuals were severely frowned/kicked upon.

Morals and family values quickly get thrown out the window when the Apocalypse comes along.

EDIT: And by that last statement I do not mean that there is anything wrong with homosixuality. Just to clarify that toa void a potential flame war here.

Just because a female may say that does not make/imply that they are shooting for the same team.

How relevant is that really? It's merely an example to illustrate how he thinks it should be implemented.

I am just saying. I should have added that I wouldn't mind either way. Sorry about that, I got a little impulsive.

As a bi-sixual, I'd like it :3 Would add more flavor for role playing.

In my opinion there is no need for homosixuality in fallout

Then there is no need for heterosixuality in it either. I say all or none.

It's a post apocalyptic time setting, now many good looking people out there. People get lonely and .......you know what happens sometimes. Then again those two people could be a girl and a guy . I think some people want to repopulate the earth. Ether way it can go.......

Completely agree with this, as long as its treated maturily and not made something to show on Weasel News...
What I mean is, just implement it as just another alternative to solving quests. Something similar to Fallout 2 would be great.

Better for their to be neither than both. I'd rather have better gameplay. This should rank on the bottom of the list, or not be on the list at all.

As a gay male myself, I honestly can't imagine that I would use a 'gay' option in Fallout. It just seems completely unnecessary. But, of course there's little harm in it being in there. I just can't see it being an issue either way.

I agree with this suggestion, but I say instead of going for perks that grant these options, just have a perk that grants the options for both genders, even if the lines for each gender differ slightly. Basically, Lady Killer and Black Widow in one, without the options being restricted to the opposite six. I don't see why not. The six in Fallout is pretty subtle anyway.

There should a homosixually-oriented gang at least. and it should revolve around the exclusion of mutants. They could call it "No Mutants Allowed"

If it were implemented, I'd imagine it to be simply an extension to the Lady Killer/Black Widow perk, except that it's the same gender. It's basically just another flirtatious speech option. It doesn't even need to be a perk; just have some ambiguous/playful lines, like the Amata line you gave as an example.

Wait, are you seriously gay because from what I see you just registered like 10 minutes ago. I don't want to get into a fight or anything, so....

Oh, haha. Yeah, I did only register 10 minutes ago, but it wasn't to reply to you. And yes, I am gay. But no fight needed. Just making sure you weren't saying that gays are the sole spreaders of STDs. But that's not what this thread topic is about, so I think we could probably leave it at this. [:

Well said.

I'm straight but i believe if their going to have heterosixuality they should also have homosixuality its only fair.

Oh come on, you can't come out with that then say you would never try it in the fallout setting. Of course you would.

I think homosixuality should be included in New Vegas as well. I probably would only use it a few times depending on the situation it's used in, but I would want it in just for more possibilities and more realism. I doubt that it would detract from the game at all, anyway.

I honestly don't think I would. I mean, I can't say I wouldn't try it out or something, but I feel like it would sort of take something away from the game. I don't want the characters to fit my lifestyle, I want to merge into the life of the character. If the character is male, he's probably straight. Why change that? I usually play as a female in these types of games anyway.

Frankly focusing on heterosixual or homosixual relationships takes away the point of Fallout.

Fallout is trying to tell a story and convey the experience of a post-apocalyptic society in a survival aspect.

If you want relationships, the Fable franchise is probably for you.
