How exactly do you "JAHO": follow up thread

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:00 pm

Like I've said before, I find that just asking a girl you don't really know to go out on a date with you usually ends in failure, even if she says yes. Build up a friendship before you start a relationship. A relationship based on friendship has the power to last much longer than a relationship based on lust.

Wait a second. I'm not the only person in the world that things the whole "friend zone" thing with relationships is BS? :o

Seriously. I thought I was the only person on BGSF that disagreed with that idea.

I'm 14...

Yeah she knows that like her, but I don't think realizes just HOW much I do like her

The flowers and chocolate isnt such a bad idea actualy

I know that I'm only young and probably don't know what I'm doing but I really feel like she could be the one...

Look mate. I'm not going to lecture you: I'm sure you've heard the "you're too young for that" junk before. So have I. But you're 14; you do not need to be concerned with that yet. Believing that idea will do nothing but set you up for hurt in the end. I've been there before, I've made that mistake of going to deep in a relationship and don't plan on doing it again soon. I'm not saying I don't believe you, but you need to realize it's a normal thing for teenage guys to get far too caught up in it.

Just be careful, whatever you do.

I still find it hard as heck to approach girls at bars, parks, student center, college, etc. But I still go into it confident as all hell. You don't need to be good at something to be confident at it. :)
Just go into it with some general conversation starters and ideas in mind. :P

And a girl saying "no" won't result in you being a virgin for 10 years every time it happens. So don't be afraid of rejection.

Don't get me wrong, it's still tough for me and I'm sure 99% of guys, but you gotta admit its a lot easier now with experience then with never approaching a girl before. When I first started I thought I was being pretty confident and cool, but I'm sure my anxiety showed though. I just meant that not everyone can be really confident without any experience, so better to get used to asking now.

Rejection isn't something to be worried about, it's really just a concept, the sooner you stop worrying about rejection (work, school, anything) the better and less stressful your life will be.

Or chloroform. Lots of chloroform.

I dunno, it really depends on the age. In high school it seems like the best way, but once you get into the work world and university, it seems like girls want you to move a bit faster. It would be kinda weird if you met a girl in class, went on a few dates and didn't make a move. I'm not saying that you have to move a lightspeed, but she's going to lose interest if you don't act like you have romantic feelings. The other problem for me is when I get attached to someone as a friend, I find it really hard to see them in a romantic way, so it becomes that much harder to ask.

But I will never give up on this girl...

You are fourteen , you are going to give up on this girl. How many married couples you know have been dating straight since they were fourteen ? I had a similar experience in middle school but many teens have things like this happen. Or your hormones could be raging another cause of your deep love anyhow if you are not confident enough to "JAHO" I see no hope with you for this girl.

LOL.

Anyway. Spectre, you're getting a lot of conflictiong opinions here. But seriously, you're going in two days. I don't care if you don't listen to a single other word myself or anyone else on this forum has said but listen to me now you are 14 why the deuce do you want to start a long distance relationship with a girl that from the sounds of things barely knows you or even spends time with you when you are 14 and a long distance relationship at 20 when you are actually serious about it is hard enough!!! Now I apologise for yelling, but be realistic here! How much time have you spent with this girl, and what is the point if you are moving? Do you even know her favourite colour? If you don't know her favourite colour, don't bother.

Lots of fruit falls from the sky. Remember that. (Equiv. "there's plenty more fish in the sea.) I only just had my first serious, actual, longer than a few months relationship at 19. Even that didn't last.

I've read your previous thread too and dude, this is really an awkward situation if I visualize it right. From a rational point of view, if the chances you'll be able spend time with her in the future are that unlikely (because of the distance from where you live if I got this right), there is no point in putting a lot of effort into this. Of course, nothing's wrong about going and hanging out with her. You're going back home and this will be your last chance to sit together, have a chat and do stuff. Completely reasonable. There's no way she'll deny you that.
I wonder what kind those fellas who state 'if he hasn't the stomach for it now, he'll never have" actually are. The lad's fourteen. I can't think of a real ladykiller I've ever met of that age. Like NinjaFish says, even most grown-ups don't do that off the bat.
However, there's always hope. In fact I could tell a little story to you lad. Once there was a lady who was a good bit older than I was at the time. Imagine yourself as a fourteen year old asking out a uni girl. Yeah, that mature. I did many clumsy things and just by persistence I hit the jackpot. Anyway, too much to tell in a post on a board.
My message is, start slowly, plan out your first move a little but not too much, but whatever you do, just get at it and be yourself! Just don't expect to hit the jackpot since it's only going to last for two days...
Godspeed, son and make the ANZAC proud. Oops, wrong context.

See, that may well warrant a visit.

Wait. What do you mean in two years?

By the way, I am sincerely trying to be helpful.

Well, nothing to lose... An eight year long friendship if I'm right. Which won't happen as long as you don't nuke her pony or so...

A lot of fish are evil, though. Many fish won't come home with you even after you've bought them $200 necklaces. Some fish may even slash your tires or try to burn down your home. So, when amongst many fish, be sure to have protection.

Now that's full of truth. Here's another one. When fish get desperate, sneakily put some protection in their breakfast. Don't trust fish when they spend too much time near the fishing boats in the harbour.

Now I hope this makes sense to someone...

Your 14 and shes "the one". This has to be one of the dumbest things i'v ever heard...
Any girl can be "the one". You develop strong feelings for people over time. Usually when you "instantly" fall for someone, you're subconsciously interested in something else *cough briasts cough*. You don't just "find the one". That person comes after being with someone, learning eachothers faults and peeves. Being there for eachother through good times and bad. You're gonna be one of these kids who says "I love you" one week into a relationship, aren't you?

btw. You're still going through puberty. Girls hate guys who aren't fully through puberty. Seriously.
She's gonna laugh at you.
You're better off not telling her.
Actually, go buy some "enlargement pills". Then talk to her. The massive testosterone levels will make you grow hair everywhere.
She'll like that.

*cough*.

If you plan to 'never give up on this girl', why don't you... oh, I don't know... not creep her out? What you should do is just go to her house and talk to her if your friend is going and you know her somewhat well. If you're able to actually strike up conversation, then mention Facebook or numbers or something and continue courtship when you're apart or something. So many people would be so freaking creeped out if some guy just came to their house and said they have a crush on them. It hits them out of nowhere. It's much more mysterious when it's hinted at rather than awkwardly exposed.

But hey, that's just common sense.

Sort of. In a kind of, do-you-even-know-her-at-all sort of way. In my opinion, if she knows her favourite colour, and you don't, or as Spectre put it, can't be bothered, then you don't really know much about her, or as Spectr put it, don't really care to know about her.
Some people may not know their girl's favourite colour, but they'll know something else about her that shows that they've bothered to take the time to actually get to know her as an individual. Perhaps it wasn't entirely serious in a specific you must know her favourite colour or else you svck kinda way, but more of a point that this guy doesn't seem to know her at all.
Did any of that make sense??

Hey, hey, I was talking about fruit man! Them fish are nasty!

Apparently, though, Spectre isn;t bothered by the minor details such as actually getting to know her first, so I'm through with lending my amazing [/sarcasm] advice. He's clearly not actually taking anyone's advice on board.

DISCLAIMER: I call this chap Spectre because that's what I read when I see the first half of the name, I don't actually know what it really says and Spectre is way easier to type. Amd it's a cool word. Spectre, feel free to set me straight on what that combination of words and numbers says

Once I came into the place of a girl I knew for the first time and one of the first things I said was: "Eh, I take it your favourite colour is orange?" "Why, yes, how did you..." "Just took a wild guess." When things are too obvious.

It looks like you smashed your face against your keyboard with "5c3j9r7" so people have called you Specter. It's not a big deal.
