Just so you know, I am not a fan of Steam and did not have it installed on my rig until about 2 months ago. As for me, the biggest thing is not having to deal with the disk to play the game. In fact, that is the only thing Steam really does for me that I like. I have bought games digitally from other places (Direct2Drive, GOG) so Steam is just another source for content, but not the only one.
I will say that other than force patching the game, and a glitch with the Saves that was addressed, Steam has not done anything to get me riled up.
So, all in all, Steam is a non issue for me.
