How many DLC packs does Fallout:Vegas need to redeem itself?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 10:33 am

But Obsidian need to be concentrating on fixing the product they've already released, not looking for new ways to break it with pointless extra content.

Don't you lot remember the Broken Steel debacle?

edit: if you're happy paying over the odds for sup-par produce then bully for you, but to my mind DLC is a waste of time, money and resources and I am not glad that this is the direction the industry seems to be heading in.

I think New Vegas needs any DLC to 'redeem itself' as you say, to be redeemed implies failure, Obsidian has made an amazing game, yes there are bugs, but they are not the fault of the Developers, they tested the game and they didnt come up. To keep saying 'Obsidian devs are terrible' when the bad happens, and then fail to acknowledge the good they do is just plain unfair.

That said, I dont think New Vegas needs 8 DLCs. I think 3 if done right would suffice it plenty to add a new unique experience to New Vegas.

What if they can pull off a DLC something like Dragon Age's "Awakening" wouldn't that be worth while?

No need for redemption..
I reckon three released at least, one focused in new cannan, one in bajah, and one in the borders of NCR, as map locations are already in place as are plot references in game.

P.s Awakening if it actually had a better story and more interaction maybe it was fine as a dlc, but was to much a hack and slash fest to be an expansion imo.

No DLC. Full on expansion... Then I don't want to hear about Fallout until I see another Elder Scrolls game.

Well we might start seeing hint of new Elder Scroll soon, maybe it will come out this time next year? or at least a new game from Bethesda this time next year, they have been working on one since Fallout 3 was released.

It doesn't need anything to 'redeem' itself except maybe one good patch. What would free DLCs actually do to fix the game?

"Redeem itself"? Why does it need to redeem itself?

None. The game has exceeded my expectations in every way. I was hoping for a fallout 3 with a bit more focus and better writing. What I got was a proper fallout game (choices that actually matter, npcs that respond to circumstances etc).

Yeah... this leads to more bugs than Bethesda titles... but bear in mind this is because beth's game design is so monumentally unambitious (quest lines are simple and discreet) and they rely on 'sandbox' (which granted they do well) to keep you entertained.

And yes I do enjoy sandbox games. But I prefer Bethesda elder scrolls games for that, I'm very happy Obsidian have done something different with New Vegas.

I still don't get it. As a Fallout 3 fan, I strongly question why other Fallout 3 fans would dislike the game.

Because they didnt get their precious 'free roam after ending' crap.

None. It's already amazing and has provided plenty of interest. I rank it below Fallout 1 but above Fallout 2.

If the DLCs are released in the same condition as the game was, then just one DLC would bury New Vegas.

Neither did I, and I still don't get it. I prefer free roaming after the ending, but I find that it actually is of very little importance to me.

Ever heard "You get what you pay for?" Considering what we paid for and what we got, would you want what they're willing to hand out free?

Just like Red Dead Rev. it had many glitches and bugs. Rockstar games give 2 FREE DLC because all problems it had. So yeah, gamesas need do the same for FONV. Only seem fair.

I selected Twebendyelebbin!!! but really there is nothing to redeem considering the patches are doing a great job of fixing what needs fixing to this fantastic rpg.

If "unnessecary [censored] fanservice" had a dictionary definition, the Rockstar logo would be the illustration. The only thing I'm holding the developers to is to patch the game where they can to improve it. It's stupid to go around begging for a free DLC. I'd rather time be spent patching the game and developing good expansion DLCs after that.

I never heard of any free DLCs for Red Dead revolver, but no amount of free stuff could make that game not svck.

Yeah, where's "zero"?

Where's "Stop whining and enjoy that the game is both several times larger and more satisfying than most others." (not directed at you if it seems like it)? I like that choice.

None, I don't think the game needs to be "redeemed". Obsidian released an exceptional product; yes it's a bit buggy, but they're working on fixing the bugs in free patches.
