How many DLC packs does Fallout:Vegas need to redeem itself?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:44 pm

Pick your poizen!

How many should be free?

How many should be dedicated to completing unfinished content like barely any weapon mods, and no craftable weapons?

How many should be free?

None. If they were, they'd be boring.

I'd rather see some bigger DLCs.

Either none or twelve thousand, eight-hundred, sixty-three, point seven.

And yes, I deliberately spelled out that number to confuse people.

One (that really expands the game, instead of prolonging one playthrough by 2 hours without leaving any desire to visit/use that particular stuff ever again) is good enough (and it needn't be free) - and there nothing really to redeem.

This seems like a bit of a silly thread.

I'd love for FNV to have 4 or 5 reasonably significant DLCs like Fallout 3 had. I'd be perfectly happy for Obsidian to release DLCs over the next year - as long as they're also working on releasing patches at the same time.

I don't think they need to release any DLC for free.

Ever heard "You get what you pay for?" Considering what we paid for and what we got, would you want what they're willing to hand out free?

I be happy just to have one like BS, I don't give a [censored] about Fallout canon or any of the other arguments that many be against it. I just want to be able to finish the MQ (which felt more like just another string of side quests) and move on to something else.

At this point I'd rather not get any DLC, and simply allow them the extra time and people to fix the engine and create a great storyline so that way when the next Fallout comes it it wows and doesn't have some of the issues that have been prevalent in many people's games, myself included.

Redeem itself? None. Just patch up the problems I and others are having and its "redeemed" in my eyes. Under the glitches and bugs lies a fantastic game that I keep playing, despite the freezes and junk.

And ok, maaaaaaaybe throw us a bone and give out the preorder packs as a freebie like Rockstar Games did for Red Dead Redemption.

Two or three should be more than sufficient, provided they're done well.

I picked Twebendyelebbin!!!

Mostly because I don't want the game to end, but also because trying to pronounce that word has been an A++ experience.

depends on the size of the DLC's really

I would pay more for 3 BIG dlcs that have more focus than 20 small ones with little to do other than kill something new with a new gun

None. It needs a patch, not DLC.

I'd rather have the DLC's add new main quest paths for Khans, FotA, BOS and Powder Gangers and add more to the main game like perks for the leveled lists, traits, weapons, open up areas, extend map, add new buildings and dungeons, add more quests to other locations etc.

That or an expansion.
If the expansion has to take place after the final quest in the vanilla version then it better be balanced, be damn good and work in every ending slider so they make sense.

I wouldn't mind smaller add-ons like trait/perk/weapon/enemy/companion/house packs either to go along side the bigger DLC's.

The only area I would really like a DLC for outside the main game is Dogtown.
But the DLC's in FO3 weren't all that great.
Once you were done in MZ, Pitt and O:A there was nothing else to do.
All it does is add some hours at an offscreen location which leaves you with weapons and armor no NPC in the main game has any chance to get since only the player has the magical fast-travel feature. <_<

But what I expect?
5 DLC's.
First 3 announced.
Then 2 more announced.
One will be like PL.
3 will be like O:A, Pitt and MZ and be off-screen DLC's.
And the final one might be like Pitt, O:A or MZ or it might be another Broken Steel. :ahhh:

I won't say if I'm going to be excited or not until I've played the first DLC though.

No to DLC. Just no. None. No Fallout DLC has added anything worthwhile. Why people are so eager for shonky products is beyond me. It is a con.

Let the devs worry about fixing the game they've already released, rather than dreaming up new sub-standard mission packs that add a whole host of new bugs to an already-unstable product.

Fallout New Vegas is a great stand alone game that doesn't NEED extra DLC to redeem itself. I believe New Vegas released some of the spirit of Fallout that Bethesda bottled up and hid from public eyes when they came to own the Fallout IP. But I sure wouldn't mind having Obsidian make a compelling story or two for each DLC (plz for the love of god nothing like Operation Anchorage tho fun I don't like video games inside my video games). Something like Point Lookout would be great if they explored more of a story and made more to do then just kill red necks...

But I will be happy to play all the DLC they will come out with.

No, but time pissed away making DLC is time not spent on the next Fallout/Elder Scrolls.

It baffles me that people are so eager for DLC when it's so universally terrible.

Let's just wait until things get fixed before we start requesting DLC.

Remember FO3's add-ons?

You do know that they split into different teams when working on stuff right?
And that Obsidian will create the DLC's.
Bethesda is already working on a "hush hush" title.
So no work is deprived from them.

do you understand how Dev companies work? If theres a team working on Fallout then theres a different team working on Elder Scrolls. Its not like they only have one team of designers on one project at a time. lol. One does not postpone the other from being made.

and if you would read articles from a simple google search you would find that Bethesda is already working on 2 other titles that aren't named yet. one thats been in production 2 years and another that is in pre-production
