How many DLC packs does Fallout:Vegas need to redeem itself?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:40 pm

None. The story was told and complete with the original game. Fallout 3 needed BoS, this one doesn't need that type of add-on.

I can't vote, OP. There is no "none" or "zero" option. :sadvaultboy:

And what do they have to redeem? They've actually already redeemed the Fallout series as a whole with the release of New Vegas, so they really have nothing to redeem at all.

Its Red Dead Redemption, and there was 2 Free DLC. Lmao!! You don't play games much, do you?!? lol :celebration:

First of all, your post said 'Red Dead Rev.' Secondly I've played through Redemption twice without downloading any DLCs and haven't encountered a single bug. I still don't think the idea of free DLCs to shut up a few dissatisfied fans is any less stupid.

I voted for two, though I want to say outright I disagree with the redeeming thing.
One DLC pack with various things all over the map, filling up empty spots, adding details here and there, adding things like random encounters and the like. For free.
One good expansion pack which we pay for, with content worth another 40$ or somesuch.

I don't think New Vegas needs redemption. DLCs they create are an privilege to have, and from what I hear pc users make so many of their own mods they have an opportunity of creating an whole completely different game.

To redeem itself?

None.

The game is good as it is, as was FO3. Will be happy to pay for DLC, providing they won't look like "content that should've been in the game in the first place".

Edit: you should've added the option "none"... not everyone feels like you do. ;]

Does anyone know if they'll make any new DLC at all considering that Gamebryo went belly up?

I'd imagine that it doesn't mean a thing for current games using the current Gamebryo engine. Now, future games that were planning on using a future version of the engine probably have more issues.....

(i.e, the company going away doesn't make the engine in your current game stop working)

A downloadable add-on pack (DLC) has officially been announced to be in the works since before the game was released. Currently no information about production of these DLCs exists. The first will be released during the 2010 holiday season and will be timed exclusive to the Xbox 360. UPDATE: There will be no DLC for Fallout: New Vegas, as the game's engine, Gamebryo has gone bankrupt.

Ya it needs DLC. I'm ready for it right now but I have to wait until the holidays for it to be released. This game can't redeem it self on the number of DLCs it has, it can redeem it self on the quality and depth of them.

I picked 2, one of them looks a certainty as Northern Passage is blocked off and seems to indicate future use. A possible other DLC would be nice.

But as to 'redeem itself'. None.

Very few people buy DLC anymore...maybe 10 %.

Game needs a patch...then they should move onto a new game.

Oh no! I hope it's not true - I don't think this game needs to be redeemed, but I was sure that that patch of map behind the outpost with the locked gate was being saved for something good :(

This game needs no redemption whatsoever - bug fixes yes, redemption no. It is a superb RPG.

I'd love 4 or 5 large DLCs like F3 had, but that's because I play on the 360 and so its the only route for game expansion - PC users will no doubt have less need for DLC.

If DCLs are created I hope they give some thought to the XP system - its already too easy to max out your level in the existing game, so some way of slowing down the rise is definitely needed - less pts awarded for kills/quests and/or much larger gap between levels?

Obviously left side of the Mojave and Northern Passage is something Obsidian cannot fit in the vanilla game (due to whatever).

I don't see a need for redemption as I loved the game. Only had one bug which was easily fixed and I thought it boiled over with content.

I was very dissapointed in thier entire weapon modificarion system.
They advertised the hell out of it, yet only 50% of the weapons have mods.
Of the mods that exist, many have only one, the majority have two and very few have three.

Every weapon needs to be abe to be modded (save for uniques i guess) and every weapon
needs at least two mod slots, with choices from all modifiable stats.

The way it is now, its totally halfassed and feels like the guy in charge of making the mods
was fired after getting 25% finished and they didt bother replacing him due to lazyness.

I wont even go near the blindsiding obvious buggyness of some areas, and the sheer
lazyness of the scriptwriters. The entire "KIngs" questline was so vanilla it bored me to tears.
They did even bother using elvis like quotes or similies in ANY of the quests, especially where it was obvious...

Now, i did love the game reqardless, and i have yet to determine if that affection is due to the efforts of Bethesda,
of my love of the Fallout genre itself, but I am convinced that I should buy the PC version and see if the community
can make it what it should have been.

I'm still waiting for my free gas from BP. :P Anyway, I've played buggier games than NV and didn't get any free stuff, so, meh. Not that I'll refuse free stuff, but I'm not expecting it. NV is the best RPG I've played in years, so I'm not exactly bitter about it.

I voted 10, but that's only because I'd love to see that accomplished.

The game wasn't finished before the deadline it was supposed to be shipped, and they had to leave out a lot of stuff they probably planned on putting in, but regardless, it still kicks @$$. :intergalactic:

Pick your poizen!

How many should be free?

How many should be dedicated to completing unfinished content like barely any weapon mods, and no craftable weapons?

i really don't know, would like to know how to get into that abandon bunker -.- but anyway away from that one thing did come to mind that i want to see, not much of a download but i would like to hear Elvis Presley's song Viva Las Vegas in the game to play on the radio i mean really they have the Kings faction that you pretty much know who they're based off of why not have a music station for him? make it like a quest to make one or something.

The Gamebryo engine= fail. So no. There will be no DLC packs. Just a TES V and a Fallout 4. But thats not for sure.

I don't think that FO:NV needs to "redeem" itself.

But where is the option "DLCs can hardly redeem a game"? I think that DLCs are separate products, sold separately from the core game. They can be released together with the game (like in Bethesda's GOTY releases), or in packs or whatever, but ultimately they are separate and they may or may not be worth their price and time to play them, may be good and may not be good, but they are not core parts of a game.

And the question is quite strange. "How many DLCs?". It's just like asking "How many books in this series should this author write?". Depends on what they put into these DLCs.
