so how many of you are left playing this game on consoles

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 7:18 am

PC games have already morphed into this, unfortunately. I nearly threw my laptop out of the window when trying to install Empire:Total War on it (with the actual disk). It forced me to create a Steam account and log in... every time... and then it would cause my game to crash or run poorly. I don't want to be on the internet when I'm playing games. The laptop runs much smoother when I'm off the internet and I can shut down my anti-virus. Funny thing, that was the last PC game I purchased because I didn't like where it was heading.

Right! That's what I was hinting at. I thought the thread was locked for good, and sent you a PM on the subject. Here's hoping the next round of consoles don't go the same restrictive route.

I'm a PS3 player. I don't see a point in buying a whole new computer for Skyrim - my current one does what I need it to, and it plays Oblivion which is a nice bonus. For me, a computer is a more work-related thing. I won't buy a PC just for games.
I have at least four friends who play on console as well.

As much you people want that consoles become pure gaming thing it won't happen... All huge gaming tournaments will always be on PC and not on consoles. Even FIFA series are focused more on PC than on consoles itself.

But back on topic, I got Xbox360 but I never considered buying Skyrim for it... no mods... can't play on ultra settings with 2k textures at 360 so ain't gonna happen... Got 360 only because of FABLE series ;D

I choose to play on my 360, and I love it. I do game on PC, but usually just older (pre-2000) games. I may get Skyrim GOTY once it's down to $19.95.

PS3 here as well ... however I've looked at purchasing/building a gaming pc for a while now. I think it is something I'll invest in before the next fallout comes out.

My parents are still playing the game on their consoles. I have been on the PC since Day 1 as that is my preferred platform.

I have fully modded my game with 3 epic mods. One that teleports me to my homes, one that makes crates and barrels containers to use, and one that reduces NPC greetings. That's it.

This^. I used to love playing games on the PC and made many mods way back in Morrowind times. I do miss the mods. But having to constantly upgrade a PC for new games coming out is just something I don't want to deal with. Playing on PS3 and loving it.

While there are certain mods that are rather enticing, I won't be changing from my Xb360. I'm somewhat of an achievement wh*re, you see

360. I can't justify the expense of a PC capable of managing a game like Skyrim. I've got minions and diabolical plans for world domination to finance.

Xbox 360 player, without kinect...

I'm happy with my Skyrim experience. To me the choice boils down to difference in graphics alone, as mods are nice but not necessary and I am a truly believer that we will eventually get them in some shape or form on consoles (as soon as they learn how to capitalize on it, of course.)

In the end, I rather pay $300-400 every ~6 years, to $2500 for a top gaming pc which will last me, if I'm lucky, those same ~6 years. Now, talk to your bank and see how much money those $2000 dollars would have become had you invested them during those ~6 years in the market, even if you don't opt for the aggressive investment options...

i play on ps3, though since 1.5 its been less and less enjoyable.

I do so wish for the unofficial patch that actually FIXES the game as opposed to being 2 steps forward and 1.5 back.

Also the mods. I play MW on PC and the mods make it much better than vanilla. I can only imagine how the community has improved Skyrim. I really wish we had something like SkyUI and a mod to get working hotkeys again...

I have a PS3, Skyrim is a great game but i've given up on playing it for now because of the stuttering framerate and lag. I'm planning to come back to it after the 1.6 patch though. :)

PS3 player with over 750 hrs of gameplay. I still play almost every day, and am concentrating on my 7th and 8th characters, a Wood Elf thief/assassin and a greatsword-wielding Nord warrior.

I still play a character on my xbox. I have two characters on PC as well, but I do still get enjoyment from being able to sit on the couch, and see the game on the big screen. The long loading times are irritating, though.

I still play on 360,after a break from SKyrim for a few months.
Now it feels so much better again.

Sadly my pc is far from being able to run Skyrim,on vanilla that is,not even mentioning modded.
And i'm not at the point of buying a gaming rig yet.
Got bigger fish to fry in life right now.
Plan on getting on tho.
With the fun i had with modding Oblivion (be it clunky on my current pc),
running a modded Skyrim is gonna be a blast.
And by the time i do get a gaming rig,the community is gonna have a ton to offer.

Built my own PC for under the cost of a XBox360 and the game runs great. I prefer PC gaming to console because of the keyboard. I use so many hot keys that I don't understand how one could play on the console with limited buttons.

PS3 player here. despite all the issues, most of which I am sure I experienced. I greatly enjoy the console version.

That being said I am looking into building a PC cause modding Skyrim just looks so freakin fun. And Diablo III is around the corner... haha

I haven't come across any game breaking bugs and none of those mods sound appealing.

I had a bunch of mods for Oblivion once. I spent more time trying to stop the game crashing then I did playing it. I don't have time for that.

Same with this, except with Fallout 3, which this PC won't even play anymore. I'll stick to my nonbuggy, noncrashy console thanks. Prefer the feel of the controller over the keyboard and mouse in almost all cases anyhow.

I play on console, xbox360, never had any reason to switch and even if I did I dont feel like buying a new computer just for a game. Besides I have faith that bethesda will fix issues in time.

I play on PS3 and while the mods (both using and making) is very alluring I don't plan on moving back to my PC for gaming.

I've been gaming on PC since 1981 (All hail the mighty Frobozz of the great Flathead Empire!!). For decades I played the constant game of catch up to play the latest and greatest games. No more.

The PS3 allows me to play top of the line games from my sofa with a large flat screen tv. My computer is there for spreadsheets and MS Word.

I would love for mods to become available on consoles, but I can live without it. I spend enough time gaming as it is. I have too many responsibilities to delve into the world of mods in an open world rpg. I still need to finish Fallout 3, Portal 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Red Dead Redemption, Heavy Rain.

Money isn't the issue. It's time and convenience.
Maybe it's not so frequent these days. I am still recovering from the days of manually juggling IRQs, config.sys, system.ini; setting emm386.exe parameters to keep Darklands from crashing every time I ran into the Knights Templar.

Paying $200 to upgrade my PC from 4 to a smoking hot 12 MB (yes megabytes) of system memory so I could play The 7th Guest without stutter and dropout. Back when $200 was a lot of money for me.

Most video cards today have 2,000+ times as much memory as my old systems had disk space.

So, I am shellshocked I guess with no desire to delve back into those headaches.

I can sit on my sofa and turn on my HD tv and play fluid multiplayer matches of BF3 that look good. That's all I ever really wanted.

Enjoy your pc experience. I don't denigrate any of it and I'm only a little bit envious.
I can relate. I grew tired of upgrading and never even went to Windows 7, so when my PC died, I bought a Mac. After several months I missed gaming, so I bought a PS3 and haven' really looked back at PC gaming. Despite what many others have reported, I haven't had any serious issues with the PS3 version of Skyrim.
Everyone enjoy what they have.

xbox 360 for me, yes the pc might have better graphics and the use of mod's but that does'nt interest me. Gaming chair, 50 inch plasma and controller, magic. Also, full HD surround sound and kinect for Skyrim.
