so how many of you are left playing this game on consoles

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 10:24 am

see, a lot of us just aren't willing to sink 1 grand into a gaming computer. Maybe before the economic junk in 2008, but not now.

Why would you need to spend 1 grand on a PC? You can easily build a pretty kick butt gaming PC for $500. I don't know why people think they cost so much, they don't.

As for the argument on upgrading a PC all the time. Ummm, why?

My PC goes in cycles of 4-5 year total replacement, usually upgrading the video card about 2-3 yrs in *if* a game pushes the one I have. Other then that it lasts as long as a console does.

Gaming chair, 50 inch plasma and controller, magic.
Exactly. Well, for me it's - Couch and only a 46 inch LCD. Oh, and my own homemade mead. :)

360 user here, and I'm fine with it. My computer can barely run Oblivion, and I'm not shelling out what it'd cost to upgrade (more realistically, new PC) to run Skyrim. The only mods I miss are things that fix Destruction, which is my biggest gripe with the game in general.

Plus, the RPG market these days is really, really pathetic unless you like MMOs. It's nowhere near that late 90s/early 2000s glory days in terms of "I need a PC".

I considered buying a gaming pc, but then I decided not to. I can't justify the cost just to play games. So I spent it on a quality sound system instead. Best decision I ever made. :disco:

Ps3 and 360 make up about 60-75% of the people who bought this game.

I sense impending doom for this thread.

I'm on the 360 btw with no plans to get a better PC any time soon. Also the Kinect addition has made the 360 version much more fun for me. That's me. I don't expect everyone to love it but for me it works great and rids the console version of one of my biggest complaints which was having to constantly be in the menus to switch spells, shouts, and weapons.

Your not the only one
360 player myself, just got the kinect yesterday and it's blowing my mind how much better the game flows with the kinect going. Combat alone has changed for me, I now carry up to 9 weapons to switch up during a fight and it's a blast to say the least :woot: being able to switch weapons with out pausing the game during combat is great!!

My standard habit with TES games going back to Morrowind is to play on the Xbox first then I get it for the PC in a few years when the GOTY edition comes out and play again with mods.

So obviously, I'm still on the 360.

Playing on 360, not ready to switch and not gonna switch even if I DID have a gaming PC able to handle it just fine and every mod made I still would not switch cuz I hate PC games except for a set few and no offense to people who are not like this but I for ONE would not want to be apart of a big group of people who think PC players are Gods....Thats just my 2 cents even you are a PC gamer and don't fall under that radar its just not for me...Not trying to flamebait by any means here btw :P

I know a few PC gamers like my best friend who is trying to get me to get it on PC (not like my mac can handle itXD) but I still tell him no, I just prefer Consoles just cuz its what I grew up on and ya know...Kinect sweatens the deal even if it is a touch broken....*I hate the bugs for it so much!*

I personally play on PC, but Skyrim with Kinnect on Xbox is pretty fun to listen to other people play. I pretty much stopped playing on consoles in 2007 for the most part (apart from some console exclusive games)

Yippeee!!! Join the club. I literally am blown away by the Kinect for this game. I honestly didn't expect it to be this good. As a mage it's just so awesome even when you aren't in battle and you just want to prep. equip left armor spell, equip right bound weapon, use them both, then, equip left frenzy spell, spot an enemy, cast it on him, then immediately equip left summon spell, cast it, then equip left spell and tallyhoe... all without pausing the action. Then in the midst of battle you can use any shout you want (you don't have to designate only one to a button) at any time and drinik potions without pausing in the middle of a fight (even right in the middle of casting/attacking). It's just so friggin' cool.

Yep, I was in the meah mind set with concerns to the kinect( I could live without) but since the wife made me get one and a game for the kids I don't think I'll be able to play the original way any more, it adds a good bit of depth to the game play( believe it or not ).

I play on ps3
We just need to be patient, im sure Bethesda is trying their best to fix bugs on the ps3.
Besides, it can be annoying that i sometimes have to start over with a character because of a bug. (this happened a few times for me), but it does not happen that often. Skyrim is a great game i will continue playing, even if it is on a console that has the most issues. (on this moment)

I play on xbox 360.

I'm satisfied playing Skyrim on Xbox 360, but it would be really nice if Bethesda would get around to fixing some of the big bugs, like the atomic nirnroot. I'd like to get my Nord to lv 81 and play the dlc, but don't want an inflated save file size to keep me from playing. If I have to abandon this character at some point, due to game performance, I'll be tempted to consider switching to pc to have access to some of the mods and the unofficial patch.

The Elder Scrolls Online has my interest, and that may get me to invest in a gaming pc, if I haven't by then. I'll have to see how the game turns out.

We started out with 3 friends on console but two of us switched a month ago to pc en the third guy is also ready to order parts and assembling.

We got fed up so much with the console version (x360) and after seeing the mods being released the final décision was easily made.

I wonder how many are left playing on the consoles, how many switched and how many are planning to switch.

I understand your frustrations. I play on console. I have a PS3 and two Xbox 360s (that are system linked) , each of which is connected to a 1080p LCD-LED HDTV. I play Skyrim on the weekends at my cabin on the PS3 and I play Oblivion on one of the 360's some weeknights after work.

I have no plans on purchasing a gaming computer anytime soon. It is obviously not a matter of cost, given all the toys I just mentioned. It is a matter of time. The time it would take to pick out a good gaming PC, figure out how to hook it up to a controller (I use a keyboard and mouse all day at work, and I am not a good typist -- I have no intention of using a keyboard during my "fun" time). I tried hooking a 360 controller to a PC once for Oblivion and I spent several hours reading the UESP and tinkering with the ini file to make it work better but the controller still would not work half as well as it did on the 360 -- there was no way to play only with the controller, you still needed the keyboard and mouse to open containers and stuff and I don't get along well with keyboards and mice.

Then you have to add to that the time it takes to keep a computer maintained, updated, virus software, etc. plus the hassle of dealing with Steam. Then you have to figure out how to download mods, which ones to download, what to do if you have problems or conflicts.

Owning a gaming PC is a big time sink, and I'd rather spend what limited spare time I have actually playing games instead of fiddling around with computers. The people I know who own gaming PC's seem to spend as much time tinkering as they do playing, which is great if you are into that stuff, but I am more into just playing the games.

I am aware of the fact that there are many golden reasons to play a game like this on PC, but mine wouldn't be powerful enough to have fun with it at max power.

I don't have any shouts in my Fav. list I just have to say it in english and my toon belts it out, I would assume magic works the same as weapons open your Fav. list highlight the item to be assigned and say " assign sword"( for example) from that point on all you have to say is "equip sword" and it will equip to the defalt hand( right) if you want something different in each hand you have to say " equip left dagger " and "equip right axe".

I can relate. I grew tired of upgrading and never even went to Windows 7, so when my PC died, I bought a Mac. After several months I missed gaming, so I bought a PS3 and haven' really looked back at PC gaming. Despite what many others have reported, I haven't had any serious issues with the PS3 version of Skyrim.
Everyone enjoy what they have.

I have not had any serious issues playing Skyrim on my PS3 either, I upgraded the harddrive to an SSD a while back (that speeded up everything, even Netflix), but the issues I was having before the upgrade were not that serious and only happened after several hours of continuous play. The only major bug I have had in Skyrim was the quest conflict between Purity of Revenge and the crown you are supposed to recover for the Jarl of Winterhold, but that bug was common to all platforms.

A lot of gamers I know, like myself, spend all day in front of a computer. The last thing they want to do when they get home is spend the night there. It's much nicer to melt into the couch and play your games half-asleep.

I could not have said that better myself.

Did you try it with the headset? I wear Turtle Beach headsets so I don't wake the kids and I can lightly speak into it... picks up my commands perfectly. I don't know but I'm guessing that the standard Xbox headset will work with it too. I'm pretty sure I'd be suffering if I went without the headset. There is a website that has all of the commands. Are you using the proper commands? It also took me a while to figure out how to "assign" spells but realized you have to do it from the "fast favorites" menu. Once you assign them, you can equip them either on the left or right hand or as dual cast. You can do the same with different types of weapons (based on class of course)... but I've only been playing with my mage since it came out.

That's cool. I'm on PS3, but I'm glad the Kinect works as designed and it sounds fun.

Thanks, man. No hater here either. One of the only reasons I went Xbox was for the Kinect (kiddos) and because almost all of my friends were on Xbox Live. PS3 is great too and I wish I had an excuse to have both consoles.
