It's invitation only. Some of us (me ) will never be moderators because we are mean to people :P

You start by posting in the correct forum.... Which this is not.

Posting something like this in Skyrim General is a poor way to go about it

I need to run out and pick up my wife, but the short of it is if we feel we need new mods we get together and discuss candidates with Gstaff and Nick. Eventually this list will be trimmed down to a few names and we have a vote - although thus far this has always been a formality as a consensus had already been reached. There are few hard requirements for being a mod. Mods do need to be at least 18, and it's uncommon for us to consider someone who has been here for less than a year.

Sometimes we look for people active at certain times of the day, or in certain forums, but these are secondary issues. Really, we're looking for people who have a positive impact on the forums - they're helpful, they follow the rules, and they're not a nuisance.

I guess having having a warning against your name doesn't help.

This, ...So I doubt (Or even want) I would be a moderator.

But here's a tip: Don't post threads like this as it pisses of Lord Todd Howard of Maryland.

There has been one occasion I know of where someone was modded and they had a warning - whether it was cleared before or whether it disappeared when they were made up I am not sure. We don't have warning bars, so a warning does not necessarily preclude someone from being a moderator.

However, knowledge of the forum rules is a must, and not knowing that you don't discuss your warning levels on the forum does not go down well. :stare:

If you're out and about and you see a large van with tinted black windows, don't edge away in fear like a rational person. From tales I've heard of those that survived the ordeal, they'll hit you with a tranquilizer dart and bring your unconscious body to a basemant with very poor lighting. You'll know it's the right place if there's a bear, owl, rabbit and a cat there using computers as well as several other unnatural creatures.

It's rather difficult to escape and you may lose all will to do so. I suspect several forum goers have met their ends in that basemant. I grieve for them now and then and remember to keep constant vigil for that BGSF van.

Having an old warning won't get you blacklisted, but I suspect we'd only consider someone who'd had their warnings reduced. (For those unfamiliar with warning reductions the instructions on how to get them are in the rules thread, you probably should have read it when you were warned ;))

Or repeatedly criticizing some of Beth's design decisions. :whistling:
The way Morrowind handled fatigue was lousy - either you slowly plodded everywhere or you were too exhausted to be effective when you were attacked. Oblivion's setting felt far too generic in my opinion. I realize that it served as a counterpoint to the Oblivion portals, but it just felt bland - Skyrim did a much better job of blending traditional and unique elements. Broken Steel was fun but being able to level past 20 completely broke the system (although I don't think this could have been avoided without overhauling the whole thing).

It's fine to be critical, although being constructive goes a long way. Someone who is badmouthing Bethesda or constantly spiting vitriol at a recent title won't be considered as a mod, but then presumably they wouldn't want to be one. I will admit there are times I withhold posting criticism here because of the mod title, but its rare.

How mod can i become?
Very.

Well I already did that so... I guess I messed up my chances...
Yes you did, and the next time we consider new mods (probably in 12+ months) this incident will be at the top of our list. :D

Some forums, anyone can volunteer if they meet certain requirements but I believe it works differently here.

It's like Spectres from Mass Effect, "Spectres aren't made, they're born". Asking to be a mod is one of the 1st big mistakes in an internet forum, the OP will do well to remember that. As for advice, be a good poster and respect the rules. After that who knows.

You get to ban people, everyone fears you, and you get to share a bunk with Rohugh (this is not always a benefit).

I can't imagine any benefits to being a mod. You have to read through every boring thread, and babysit the forum. You get to lock obnoxious threads. What a pain that would be.
