A beast of a gaming rig? Sounds like a plan to me.

This is what I would do, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227500&cm_re=ocz_z-drive%2d%5f%2d20-227-500%2d%5f%2dProduct and I am a happy person.

...What does it do?

Its a Solid State Drive, except it slides into PCI slots instead of SATA connections so it can get upwards of 800MB/s.Imagine booting with that!

A Solid state drive is like a USB stick, no spinning disc, which means, loading from the hard drive instantaneously, no load times.

Pretty cool, but I could think of hundreds of things I'd rather spend 3 and a half grand on.

The only way I could inherit that kind of money would be from by distant Nigerian uncle, who needs a $10,000 investment behind I get it.

Some SSDs in RAID are faster than that.

If you're absolutely certain it's not a scam...then I congratulate you, Mr. Renton (yes, you now have enough money to apply the prefix of 'Mister' to your name. Also congratulatory)

Think hard and think long on how to use it, as it's a once-in-a-lifetime-stroke-of-luck. Some people just can't handle a lot of money and tend to toss it away on whim and soon notice they're all out again. Me, I've never had money, really, so I've always been running a Scrooge-shift.

Don't think I'll wind up with an inheritance during my lifetime. Or if I do, it's prolly bills, anyway. :)

Agreed but it's MLC (multi level cell) flash and unless it states otherwise it is only guarenteed for 10k Write/erase cycles. Now with a smaller SSD it's not such a problem but with such a large SSD you going to be writing a lot of files to it and it's going to wear out quick. If you going to buy a unnecessarily large SSD go for an SLC one. They're guarenteed for 100k write/erase cycles and give much higher performance too.

Put it into a bank account, get a financial adviser, and invest part of it and use the other to do something you really want or need, like fix up your home (or get a home), etc. If you spend it all now you'll definitely regret it later.

couple of interesting things to watch

companies that can take old car tires and turn it into diesel (a few are being built here in Europe)
solar development
a company that makes wifi windup laptops for the third world
Virgin Galactic <-- winner!! Richard has already sold over five hundred flights, at 200,000$ a pop.

Bribe a mod with your money so that you get an exclusive title below your avatar instead of the boring and generic Curate.

This, above all. An http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96dWOEa4Djs Raid is too good to pass up. If I had that sort of money I wouldnt hesitate.
