Whether or not you like killcams, it's setting a good precedent that Bethesda has done the work and added these to the game gratis. Other companies would have turned this into a DLC and charged us $10. Instead, Bethesda has opted not to do that, and it demonstrates that they take pride in their work and are doing this for more than money; they're doing it because they love making and playing video games.

I'm not gonna bank this on " The Good will of BGS " they know, and you ALL know if it was anything less than free, a Crap storm unlike anything witnessed in Human history would have surged and destroyed all known life on Terra.

SO

when something Substantial(not saying the work for the Kill cams and new anims aren't substantial), I.E Something they could have charged for and didn't, comes along lets not give the the badge of honor just yet mmk? yeah I'm grateful they're making this availible, but the butt kissing hasn't been warranted yet remember, Horse armor. for me personally they pull more stunts like this and I'll have regained faith in them, and go back to the TAKE MY MONEH ALL OF IT

Probably correct; it would be akin to the Horse Armor DLC fiasco. However, it remains that they didn't have to create it, and I'm thankful that they've taken the time to do it anyway. It is no promise of better things, of course, but it sets a precedent, and most importantly it sets them apart from BioWare.

Thank the Divines for no toggle option. I think the kill cams add a lot to the game, and people will learn to love them.

your are kidding right? it wouldn't hurt you if they were toggalable, and I'm sure not everyone will like them

No toggle option for the cams?

This is what happens when success goes to a game`s Devs head. they think they can shove anything they like on us and we`ll just `svck on it` like an egg. Even with FO3 I could opt not to use their zoom cams which I didn`t the whole game.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Crap, crap, crap. It`ll slap them back one day.

I hope I can stop Steam from updating the game because there`s no way i`m going 1.5. Otherwise it`s ruined my game.

Anything else you can give us that we don`t actually want with no OPTION to change, Bethesda?

thanks for nothing.

If it was charged I could simply NOT BUY THE CAM instead of losing out on the updates by avoiding 1.5 altogether! I don`t like paying, but it`s one or the other isn`t it?

If Bethesda were really conscientious they would have given us a TOGGLE CHOICE.

So far, I'm liking the new unarmed kill cams. I've gotten the knee to the groin, then body toss, as well as a backbreaker/body rack maneuver followed by slamming the enemy on the ground head first! Great fun for my orc shield brawler  . I've yet to get the suplex animation, though.

He-man is awesome, in a camp kind of way.

Action cinematics / kill cams are just lame. Lame like a [censored] action movie. The kind of movie only 8-14 year old boys and the type of middle-aged men you see watching wrestling would find entertaining.
He man is awesome, but I like wrestling but the kill cams in this game should be a choice, first or third person view or maybe both and there should be an option to turn them off heck Fallout New Vegas let us do that and Skyrim does not.

Yeah I disabled my auto update via steam. Again like quite a few people here; love the idea (kill cams) but also please give us an option to toggle it off. Set it to auto default being on, but allow us users to change it to off if we so desire.

Til then; game on (lol)

whoa... i just found out about this update today from the video on youtube.

AWESOME! ^_^

epic kill cinematics for bows and spells... i cant wait for the console version so i can enjoy this expanded feature.

i am truly happy that bethesda is working to keep skyrim going, instead of just releasing then abandoning it, like with fallout 3... sure we got expansions, but i dont think we got a single performance patch for that game... dont even think obsidian did anything for new vegas, which is why im worried about getting that game.

anyway, thank you bethesda! :)

Since you are playing on pc you can either download one of the mods that disable kill cams or just change your ini to disable them. Not a problem.

Why anyone would be against the option to turn them off boggles me.
Is it spite? Rancune? Malice?
Makes little sense.
I am personally all for the option to add in a toggle : some people like it others do not it seems simple give us a toggle so we can tune the feature to how we want it. I like the cams but I would also like to play in either only first or third and then there are times when I would rather not use them.

The bow kill cam did catch me by surprise the first time, I must say - but in a good way, it is pretty cool once you get used to it.
The others are all great as well - I play in 3P a lot of the time anyway and to be honest even in 1P I don't find it immersion-breaking at all.

[off topic] - BTW kudos on the new shaders, as well. :)

Do any of the kill cams implement shields in anyway? I'm not expecting a Captain America-type throw or anything, just a bash in the face with a shield followed by a sword slash or something like that. I don't know.

Do they have Todd's voice run through a editor for echo saying 'FAAAAATAAALLLLIIIIITTTTTTYYYY......!!!!" as well?

It's a gimmick, kids. Like 3D in the movies has been (repeatedly....although the current phase hasn't gotten silly, just yet. But it's getting there). This does nothing to enhance -gameplay-, and is known as breaking immersion.

At least they don't trigger until its the last creature in the cell which is telling, if you think about it. Sounds a lot like they don't (or can't) stop other things from happening while you take your little virtual ride on the arrow, and this is the only way to ensure you don't get killed by something else while watching the bling.

There's already one in the game, but if you look at this video at around 00:31 or 00:32 (don't blink, it's goes fast), there's a new one, and it looks great:

Died 25 times to a whiterun archer and it never triggered, so I think it's safe to assume that they didn't implement it (thank Todd).
Good. Very, very good. Thanks for testing it.

Patches should be things which improve the game. Not offer tacky gimicks that not all players will even want.
Patches are meant to fix game bugs. Bethesda added some extra content while they were at it, for FREE. There will still be other patches, to fix additional problems and improve the game even more. I see no reason to complain.

Not like that, anyway. I agree on the fact an option is needed to toggle the kill cams on or off for example. I can understand some people getting quite annoyed by the interruption it causes during your gameplay.

I'd like an option to turn kill cams and all 3rd person forced-view modes off. If I wanted to see things in 3rd person I'd press F on my keyboard. I do a fair amount of mining and switching to 3rd person for that is ridiculously tedious. Kill cams are lame. :swear:
You do realize you can just equip the pickaxe as a weapon and bash at the ore veines, all in 1st person and without a cinematic?

No toggle option for the cams?

What about grass shadows not being optional? Also in 1.5 ... AND it takes your fps down!

Something else like, say, poison?

 good observation! I didn't even think of that! Well, we'll see what happens I guess.

The killcam may be a gimmick, but be grateful they aren't charging and are bundling it with a patch.
If they'd charge for something that should've been in the game since the very beginning, then it'd end like the horse armour mod for Oblivion: I would refuse to buy it. Both out of principle as out of empathy with my money purse. Little thing can barely keep some food to itself during these times.

Maybe Bethesda have simply monitored the forums/blogs and decided to put the "kill cams" for archery and magic in that patch for free simply because the majority wanted them.

Maybe they aren't even essentials or appreciated by everyone, but on pc you can easily disable them and on console you can avoid that patch unless you have some bug/glitch yet to resolve...so,in the end on what we discuss here ? :ermm:

A toggle option to eventually remove them ? with all due respect but in my opinion that function is needed for more important things in the game than a trivial killcam.
