Live Oil Spill Cam

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:54 am

I found http://www.bp.com/liveassets/bp_internet/globalbp/globalbp_uk_english/homepage/STAGING/local_assets/bp_homepage/html/rov_stream.html courtesy of BP. Its pretty depressing, oil just leaking into the ocean, still nothing seems to be done about it. But, on the bright side, I think its kind of cool to have a webcast from 5000 feet below the ocean's surface from a ROV.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere here, and I thought some of ya'll might be interested. Sorry if its old news.

How freaked out would you be if you saw a Big Daddy stomp past?

Edit: The stream isn't loading for me, it's not region-specific, is it?

That's a lot of fish...
...dead now. Sorry, couldn't resist. ^_^

BP really should have calculated measures for the absolute worst case. Now everyone can see what trying to save your profits in such a situation leads to, and the environment has to suffer for it. And we don't even have five stupid ethnic stereotypes and their avatar of planetary cleanliness to save us!

You guys are lucky you dont live on the Coast... <_< Woo! Now I get to watch the destruction of the ecosystem from my computer. Well in a bit I could just go sit on my pier and watch the oil drift ashore.

Dude, its in the Gulf of Mexico. The only real way it could reach Hawaii is if it went way south to the panama canol, then went north from there. Its only really hitting the gulf coast (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida).

The way they're handling it I wouldn't rule it 100% out.

There are three leaks spewing out a total of 95,000 barrels of oil and methane into the ocean per day.

BP basically went too far and punctured a gigantic high pressure reserve which blew their rig out of the water. This is really, really bad.

Alright, let's watch the environment go to Hell while people sit around and come up with [censored] ways to fix their damn problems. Might as well set the world on fire right now; it'll happen eventually.

That's what I'm thinking by seeing the lighter colored gas bubbling up with the oil. I wonder if that is normal with drilling in the Gulf... and if BP had taken that into account.

I have a great idea on how to clean up the spill quickly and efficiently after the leak is capped...

We all know how well humans in general, if left unchecked, might over-fish a species to extinction. I say hand out as many empty barrels as we can to the fisherman who are put out of work, and offer them $100/barrel for any oil they can skim up and VIOLA!... the oil spill will become extinct in no time. :hehe:

I just deleted a few posts that were getting political. If you want to discuss ways of getting up the oil and what BP should do, that's fine, but leave the Government out of it.
