Lost Season 6 Discussion

Taken from the last few post of the first thread,
How can you say that they answered no questions with this weeks episode? They answered a LOT of questions
1) What the island actually "is"
2) The definitive roles that Jacob and the man in black play
3) Where Richard comes from, how he got there, and we now know why he will never die

I think that's a pretty jampacked episode full of facts, if you ask me.

Agreed, this episode has definitely given more answers than probably any other to date.

My theory is that the island is a spaceship, and the Man in Black just wants to go home (like he said) :D

But not really... (in case anyone thought I was serious)

The Richard episode was a great peak into the past of the island. I like how they implied that its been around basically forever. I see Richard helping Jack become the new Jacob.

I honestly think Hurley is going to be the new keeper of the Island. I hope Jack isn't, jack is obnoxious. He was supposed to be killed off in the first episode of the first season, but a last minute script changed that. :( I think him and Kate are absolutely unbearable to watch. Just such annoying characters.

My wife seems to think that since Jack and Evil Locke have never met, Jack is going to be the one to plunge the dagger into Locke's chest before he can say a word, thus killing him.

I want everyone to fail in their attempts and at long last, the 'evil' to make it off the island. I can see the Man in Black (or Locke) waving goodbye with a smug look on his face as he departs. The real world will be doomed! I guess that says a lot about my tastes, huh?

I completely agree. I was rooting for Locke but now I wanna see either Sawyer or Hurley. I can't tell you how many times through out the series that I was hoping they would just kill off both Kate and Jack.

She honestly isn't dude. And I would know, brunettes are my thing. I'm into dark skin/dark hair woman, which kate kind of is, and she looks like a man.

Sayid already did that though and it didn't kill him...

Sayid was told to do it before Locke said anything but he was talking before he got stabbed, which is why it didn't work.

He did? The first thing I remember him saying was "Now why'd you go and do that?" Did he say hello first and I just don't remember?

Yeah, he spoke before Sayid could stab him. I mean, that'd be pretty hard to do though. Stabbing someone before they can speak.

I too think Locke didn't speak. Going to watch it on Hulu.

EDIT: Locke does say, "Hello Sayid." before getting stabbed.

Good idea. I'm almost positive he spoke before Sayid stabbed him.

I guess I forgot also.

She isn't hot, and you would know? Lol?

Anyways, I liked the episode, but I'm still not digging the season as a whole. I think I liked that episode mainly because it didn't have the alt-timeline. Also, it didn't really answer any questions to me; it was mostly clarifications of things I already suspected.

From http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Sundown:

In the jungle Sayid hears and feels the strange rustling of a powerful breeze accompanied by the sounds of The Monster in the undergrowth, and suddenly Locke appears behind him. As the Man in Black says "Hello, Sayid" Sayid rushes and plunges the dagger in his chest, then he steps back puzzled as the Man in Black contemplates the dagger in his chest and asks, "Now, what'd you go and do that for?" The Man in Black seems unfazed and pulls the bloodless dagger out, offering it back to Sayid.

Thanks, I already saw the part at Hulu, I needed to see it myself. I was very sure Locke didn't say anything.

1. What is island? I mean really, a cork? :P I still want to know "what is island?" and I have a theory. (I think it is a spaceship too.)
2. We don't know if Jacob lies or not? He did lie before. And we already learned about MIB just wants to leave the island. He did say it himself several times already in past episodes.
3. We learned those. But... does it matter? I think it was pretty obvious the gift was given by Jacob. I personally didn't need any confirmation on that. And it didn't help for my own on going questions. But I think that scene has a different meaning, the first killing attempt, so it is OK.

How the statue broken, how the ship landed there. No very important questions on my side, but clever writers answered them in one shot. :P

How about,
whispers,
true nature of visions, can we understand those visions come from Jacob, MIB, hallucinations or real ghosts?
who was in the cabin asking for help? who was in the cabin looks like Christian? Ben was getting his directions from who(himself, Jacob, MIB, mix?),
what's with that powder, what it keeps out or in? How?
dharma's first involvement and departure,
what is island, (some things happen because island wants it so, and some things happen because of Jacob and MIB) so what is island again?
what was Locke's dreams, where did they come from? Island or Jacob?
what is Desmond or his distinction?
What was Eloise thinking sending his son to death?
What was really happened to French woman's crew? What is it with sickness they talked about? What happened to Sayid? There is no darkness growing in him, he was just convinced.

:)

It was the best episode so far in 6th season, but it was almost filler.

Spoiler
So I notice that a lot of people have pigeon holed The MIB as evil (which he is) and Jacob as good so I've got to ask. Am I the only one thing that he's only good in comparison to MIB and pretty much evil compared to most people. He's been bringing people to the island for the sole purpose of proving a point to MIB and then refusing to help them even when they have to deal with such fun stuff as a huge black smoke monster descending onto them. That seems pretty evil to me. Also if he hadn't been bringing people to the island then MIB would have had no way of killing him so he would still be trapped anyway. I just can't see anyway of justifying his actions.

I think it's a prison for MIB, or an arena for Jacob and MIB to prove who is right and who is wrong when it comes to the species of man. But mainly if think its purgatory.

2. We don't know if Jacob lies or not? He did lie before. And we already learned about MIB just wants to leave the island. He did say it himself several times already in past episodes.
Jacob never lies. Its a well known fact that men in white clothes are the good guys, and therefore do not lie.

I'd say the dead communicating with the "living," since It's my firm belief that the island is a cross roads between earth and a purgatory like existence solely created to trap whats his face.

who was in the cabin asking for help? who was in the cabin looks like Christian? Ben was getting his directions from who(himself, Jacob, MIB, mix?),
I think I recall him saying he was making it up as he went along, then jacob (or possibly MIB) started freaking every one out with hoodoo

what is island, (some things happen because island wants it so, and some things happen because of Jacob and MIB) so what is island again?

MIB's crazy mother maybe?

What was really happened to French woman's crew? What is it with sickness they talked about? What happened to Sayid? There is no darkness growing in him, he was just convinced.
I believe the sickness they talk about is a form of corruption, based on Jacobs summary of the MIB, who wants to prove that all men and woman can be corrupted because it is in their nature to sin. The corruption obviously bring's out darker desires and insanities, as is evident in claire's case.

That's all I can think of atm.

I think Jacob is good. He cant prove MIB wrong about his belief in human sin and their weakness to corruption if he is forever shepparding them and showing them what to do, they need free will to do good, otherwise they would just be sheep.

Lately I'm convinced that Jacob and MIB are brothers, to the same insane mother, perhaps of egyptian descent or maybe every religion has the same story with different names.

I personally still want to know who/why Christian *jacks father* was seen on the island, how he talked to Locke before he left the island in season like..4 or 5, can't remember, why he's there, etc.
They haven't touched on that at ALL yet.

Well, the Man in Black is supposed to be evil, right? And capable of doing really terrible things in the real world. Jacob is good because he is bringing these people here to prevent the Man in Black from leaving the island and wreaking havoc.

I think Jacob brings people here because he can't do things to fight the Man in Black himself. Ever notice that he never takes any sort of direct action? I don't think this is out of choice. I'd guess that he has the capability of bestowing "gifts" upon the people he brings to the island but has no more power than that.

I think jacob is limited in what he can actually do himself, so that's why he recruits others to the island.
