On the topic of Christian appearing to Jack off the island, I really don't think it was just because he was boozed up. I mean, yeah he was, but I think it was actually something more devious. Especially in Lost, you can't just look at things black and white.
I would be rather angry to see stuff left unexplained.
A good story, in my humble opinion, shouldn't leave gaping holes where people are left going, "so what the heck was that about?"
Granted, real life doesn't have all the answers.... but if I wanted real life, I wouldn't be watching tv, now would I?
For lost, the best ending should be one in which everything is explained, then as you go through the series again, on subsequent viewings you should (hopefully) be able to trace everything from first to last, to be able to point out details in earlier seasons and say, "this comes into play in a later season, this was done for a reason and was referenced in a later point in the story."
Given the tremendous amounts of re-writes and last minute edits and character write-offs that have happened in the show, I wonder how well they can tie everything together but.... here's hoping for the best.
