I'm level 25 and I believe I've killed more than 30-35 dragons. I'm a mage, though, so it's easier to attract attention from the ground.

I quite like Dragons, they do get repetitve but the Oblivion gates were simply awful compared to them, i'd much rather have dragons.

I can't get fed up of fighting dragons. The music and comments from citizens and guards never get old for me.

Dual wielding daedric daggers makes mincemeat of them.
The sheer unpredicatbility can catch you out,though,especially at lower levels.Running into other characters is often the only solution.

You must not be playing at the hardest level. Try it then and come back. =D

Level 14 here and still haven't progressed much in the MQ, I guess that's why I don't see a lot of dragons. I fought only two so far: the one we all fight ( ) and another one who decided to spawn next to Pelagia's farm. This one gave me a hard time, but a Whiterun guard helped me. Poor Severio Pelagia wasn't lucky though.

A third one appeared when I was going from Rorikstead to Morthal. I had left Lund's hut (I guess that's the name) and a group of bandits came running to attack me. I was fighting them when a dragon appeared. One of them was an archer and he was pelting me with arrows from a distance. The dragon landed behind him and burned him nicely.

The dragon took off to the sky and wouldn't land again, no matter what I'd do. I finally noticed that there was a giant camp nearby and the dragon was circling the place. I guess it was distracted with the giants and I just gave up.

I do like pizza but not the cheese actually.

Thats much more awesome than when you finish the MQ. They attack immedietally and they attack every 10 minutes.

EDIT: Btw.. You can also actually meet Alduin several places when you havent finished the MQ, you will find him at burial mounds. I found him on my way to Markarth the first time (I went past Rorikstead) and I shot him with my bow, he then proceded to spit flames on me once and then flying faster than lightning to the west.

I actually loved the "just flying about" dragons when I was at low levels. I was getting attacked so much that one just flying about was an amazing relief. "oh.. thank god.. I don't have to fight that thing."

At higher levels it feels much more like I'm benevolently letting them go. "I grant you your life dragon.. you may leave if you so wish."

At least you can ignore the Gates.

Is it really gonna kill you to pull out a bow when the dragons come calling? There's nothing that says a warrior can't use a bow every now and again. When they get low enough health they are forced to land. Get them to that point and then go at them with your sword per usual. I've seen plenty of Dragons in my time with the game (over 180 hours now) and always find them exciting. They are definitely the best dragons I've seen in a game. I think it's great that they aren't scripted and can fly around and do what they please. It makes them seem much more real than some scripted dragon that just sits in one spot while you melee it to death. I really don't get why you feel a flying dragon should always land so you can hack at it. That would just be stupid. As far as it not attacking just you, well, that would also be stupid. It's much better that it does what it pleases. What makes you so special that it should always target you? The dragon is no respecter of persons. You're just another piece of meat to it. It'll get to you when it's good and ready.

I've had about 18 Dragon attacks, 2 of which were inside cities. One was Whiterun, and the other Solitude.

or you could close them entirely and never have to worry about them popping up every where which gives a good reasons to do the MQ.

i wish dragons were as challenging as giants or sabre cats, and didnt show up so randomly but at places where it makes sense.

also, does anyone know why the dragon at helgan was so powerful? it destroyed the whole town!

I have heard others say this and I don't get it, I have fought and killed 25+ dragons in my 130 hours and believe it or not (level 38), I have enjoyed every one of the battles and this is on Expert ! I think the catch is, you need to explore on foot, fast travelling here and there all the time doesn't help, try picking a point on the other side of the map and walk there, I know it sounds shocking but its a great way to play! Also if you are after Dragon Shouts pick all the highest points on the map and go there, I have found most word walls are up high on peaks, if you hadn't already noticed that is! Obviously where there are word walls in the open there are Dragons so maybe try that?

If Dragons arn't noticing you just get their attention, a few arrows does the trick, but like I said I haven't really had this problem, once the epic Dragon music starts I know I am in for a tough time Btw I just ran into my first Elder Dragon at level 38 and Wow was he a surprise, killed me 3 times before I learnt to hide and then whallop him with Ebony Arrows!

Btw please be careful with your title, Dragon's don't 'svck' just because you haven't ran into them enough, Skyrim has the BEST dragons I have seen in ANY game so far, they are fantastic, saying what you did is a blight and an insult against all the hard work the charachter and design artists put into them! Show some respect please!

Its an opinon as like yours of Skyrim being cared for and being worked on by BGS with the up most work ethic, certainly isn't the BGS have not cared for their product as much as others resulting in a very buggy and pretty much uncompleted underwhelming game in various aspects master of none but jack of all trades (with some of the trades cut from their previous games). But again opinions they make the world go round.

I'm closing on level 40 with a battlemage which is more warrior than mage. Most dragons land near me and try to flame or frost me but some never land and engage. Unless you have a certain shout (which I don't yet) you can't force them to land, so you need a ranged attack or a companion who has one. I used magic in the early days and now I use magic and my bow (enchanted as heavily as I can) with high damage arrows. Also on the main quest you get a pretty nice anti-dragon one handed sword which can come in handy.

But be careful what you wish for. When they DO land, fighting toe to toe with a dragon can be difficult with them breathing on you all the time until you get some pretty good anti-fire and anti-frost enchantments and decent armor.

So get lightning bolt and a decent bow, work on smithing to improve the bow, and maybe enchanting, and either invest in some good armor or some good enchantments to give you a little armor effect to survive the blows from dragon wings, tails, breath, and ... oh yeah, being eaten and then spit out (all perks of close in dragon fighting).

After the 20th dragon jumps you you will just wish they would leave you alone. They become irritating flying lizards.

I haven't had this problem, I guess dragons really like me. Level 45 and I have killed at least 30 dragons. I have fifteen unused souls right now

Again, some Dragons won't attack. Pretty sure its a glitch.

Atack the Dragon whit a Light bolt or chain lighting instant atack, i do that to make them agresive to me.

Shock = Instant Hits.
fire frost = like and arrow they have a diferent time to hit the target, and if the dragon is moving wwell is a hell to hit them.

Bashing a dragon interrupts the breath, and you can use Lesser Ward to block any breath, even Ancient one.
