Ok I love skyrim but dragons svck.

Im level 28. I've killed 2 dragons. The first one to start the quest and a random (I spend hours tracking down trying to get it to attack me)

I rarely see dragons, which im fine with. But when I do see one, It NEVER attacks me!! I just spend the last probably 2 hours trying to fight this one dragon, who attacked and killed everthing that even thought to move in the area, except me.

Not to mention im a melle character and the thing only lands once every about 10 attacks.

Dragons are frustrating. Really. I really love about everything else about this game though. But seriously they spend so much time on them, why are they just mediocre?

/frustrated rant.

Advance through the MQ and you will find a solution to your problem.

I personally like that they rarely land, if I had wings and the power to blast everything with fire/frost and call deadly storms I'd never land where my enemy could get to me.

I'm at 27 and I've killed 5 or so random dragons. It's a blessing, honestly. They're not that interesting to fight and deal very little damage compared to most other enemies.

I don`t see many Dragons but when they come they always, ALWAYS eventually decide to breathe hot fire all over me.

I actually hide from them cos I`m not strong enough to kill them yet.

Maybe it`s a difficulty level thing.

I play on expert, but i have to turn it down to adept for dragons otherwise it takes just so long to kill one when i can never hit it with my sword. I guess I should start the main quest : /

I'm playing on Expert.

I feel like I've spent hours chasing dragons around Skyrim. They're so [censored] that half the time they can't manage to fly straight.

Sometimes they just fly above you so you can't fast travel or wait, but they never get within bowshot. They just fly around like [censored] [censored] cliff racers.

level 26 on expert and have 14 dragon kills under my belt. They are random but keep in mind and Skyrim is a big place.

my first character (master only) is a nord warrior with light and archery and got his [censored] handed to him multiple times on the first whiterun dragon. one breath of fire took him down to a sliver of health and the second was goodnight.

I have been wondering whether I need to have a ranged attack for dragon aggro. I am playing a character that I wanted to build towards the paladin concept. Resto, heavy armor, speech, and two-handed and nothing else really.
This has not been an issue in dungeons but Im not attracting much attention with the dragons. Should I scrap the RP concept or will this not be an issue later on?

On my old main I wasn't even far through the main quest and I couldn't fast travel at all without having a dragon waiting for me, and any time I walked a long distance I had at least one on the way.

It got to the point that after 50 bones/scales in my bin back home I either sold or left the rest on the corpse.

My characters are mainly melee as well, I tend to use the unrelenting force shout when try go to use their spell (fire/frost breathe) and it tends to interrupt it... lead them to a flat area and they will eventually land.

other than getting a dragon to land it's a perfectly good build, you'll be able to do what needs to be done. I use a combo of archery and shouts to "land" the dragon's, but really they will often land by themselves. Just useing a shout will work, may take longer though.

If your chaseing dragons down to fight them then you need the "cheats" forum to ask that . Lvl 24 and 8 dragons later. though I'm pretty sure I "chased" one down that may not have attacked.

Oh boy, i wished i was in your position OP. It seems that i run all the time into dragons. This is my second attempt at Skyrim (first tried out on a mates game to see if i would like it) and i'm still lvl 10 so not much up to killing dragons. So far i have fled about 5 times allready and i don't travel to much away from Whiterun. So i guess its really random that these dragons appear.

Also did had the feeling on my first attempt that after you visit the Greybeards and advance a bit in the MQ, the dragons are more frequently in the air and they did all seem to hate me because they kept chasing me for a very very very long time :ahhh:

I spawn from fast travel:

"Here boy ... here huge flying lizard ... come to daddy."

I get my way about 30% of the time.

My mains best way of fighting is with the sword of and shield but because dragons fights are so different I had to adapt and I now use a staff and shield when I fight dragons which I think is pretty badass. What this sounds like to me Is just someone whining about how they hate dragon fights and honestly, it is just a special form of a fight. You have to adapt to that special form or else you die. It is like the fundamentals of nature.

A blood dragon spawned outside of Riften last time I played. I shot at it with Bound Bow until it died, it took a while as my Archery is low. It never even attacked me. It flew in circles, breathing frost on the city guards. I kept having to run after it to get a shot in as it kept landing so far away. It was the easiest dragon I've faced so far.

i'm around level 38 and have killed at least 50 or more dragons. though i kept going the blackbeards and getting a new shout location on map. i have most shouts and words maxed out now. but dragons have seemed to be everywhere for me since that beginning dragon quest. i mean , they could be off in the distance and if i just pop my head out they'd be after me. often there could be 25 people in town with me fighting and that svcker will be blasting me. i get tired of them sometimes and try to lure them to other characters if i can , they come down more and lose health quicker. other than bow or shout or destruction magic , it helps if you can conjure something that shoots magic also.

A Flame Atronach is the best dragon fighting companion there is. You can keep an eye on her to see where the beast is, she will fireball it constantly, and it will attack her. Very handy.

Why the hell would a Dragon come down to fight the ULTIMATE DRAGONSLAYER, the Dovahkiin?

Think.

Some of them seem definitely designed to be ambient or whatever, and won't attack you unless you can hit them with something. I'm thinking a glitch causes them to attack other NPCs, since after that they immediately go back to flying wherever.
