Hey Sawyer, how does it feel to enter these Bethesda domains? Are the Oblivion fans treating you well?

I want a really, really politically correct answer now. One that would make even Crazy Ken Kutaragi blush.

Alien: Crucible.

A ladder 15 feet long leans against a vertical wall. If the base of the ladder is moved
outwards at the constant rate of 4 feet per second, how fast is the tip of the ladder
moving downward?
Before or after the wall stops holding the tip?

Funny you should mention that, I got an email today saying that my pre-order had been shipped. Can barely wait.

Another question for Sawyer: how connected to the actual game would you say the teaser is? Did Obsidian make it? Was Obsidian even involved in the making of it? Was it sent out to a third party who cobbled it together with bits and pieces of an extraordinarily failed company trip to Vegas?

Will the game have any http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1119646/ Easter eggs in it..?

I'm really jealous at your job. Even with all the workhours, it must be great to have a job where you get to chance to be so darn creative.
I'm so jealous in fact, that I really don't like you.

I'm sure though I'm going to be madly in love with you as soon as I get a chance to play the game.
So, expect perfumed letters, and dirty underwear

So Josh, a few days ago I was reading one of your old http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?automodule=blog&blogid=3&showentry=68:
There's this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_Thinking but that doesn't necessarily give anyone a good idea of how that is applied to game development. One thing we often ask applicants at Obsidian is what their favorite or least favorite games are and why. The "and why" is the most important part of the answer. Anyone can spit out a list of titles to show a wide range of tastes, but that doesn't give us any idea of what he or she found of value in those games. Understanding why -- really why -- you enjoy or dislike games helps you understand what other people may find appealing or distasteful in games.

How does this exactly work? You don't accept the 'wrong" answer I guess, but what do you handle as a "good" or "bad" answer?

Editied out the new vegas questions, sorry about that :P Got two questions not related to it.

1. What game would you say was the most fun working on out of the ones you've released?

2. What made you decide to become a game designer?

If you worked on Fallout 3, what did you do? Are you doing the same kind of job on F3:NV?

If not, what did you do before and did you request to work on NV or were you assigned?

Side Note: Just bought the F3: GOTY edition.(Finally got a New PC, wouldn't run on my Win 98, PIII. Having trouble installing the DLC's but I'll worry about that after my second play through. Bravo on the game. I really enjoy VATS as a "Targeted Shot" mode. Like I could hit an ant's antenna without VATS. Oh, and love that I could find the occassional Spork. :tops:

What got you into making games? What got you into doing Fallout 3 New Vegas? Did you volunteer or did you get recruited, or was just asingned to it?

Oooh! Put a Fishy Sticks food item in as an easter egg! It was a missed opportunity in FO3.

It is a little related to the game so feel free to delete this if you need to mods, but curious as to outside influences and interests that may spill over into your job; i.e., ones that may have an effect on how you create the game universe-- for example, movies and books, philosophies, people and events in history you are interested in, and such. New to the game, just picked up FO3 GOTY, but love to try to identify stuff in all my games that show things the developers were possibly influenced by.
