New G4 Interview with Chris Avellone

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:41 am

That's what I was thinking. I was surprised when I saw a long row of houses.

In fact, all the settlements looked pretty big -- the town with the escaped convicts looked well populated, and Nipton was very big, too. Nothing actually seemed cramped from what I saw of the desert, it's just all the villages are much bigger, so that might make the Mojave feel smaller.
Personally, I prefer more and bigger settlements over a large desert. Really, it's been 200+ years since the bombs fell, isn't it time we get a few bigger towns up and running?

I agree, I mean, I'm sure the desert itself will still be reasonably large, and it will still be there to explore. And besides the desert, we will get a lot of awesome settlements with cool people to talk to. I'm not worried about the size at all at this point.

Me, too. I think it's perfect. I love my boy MiamiThrice, but he's gotta calm down with the whole 'map being too cramped' thing. :P There's still going to be lots of desert. Heck, what'd be the point of hardcoe mode if there were settlements dotted around everywhere?

Looks like movement has been improved a lot at least from me comparing Fallout 3 to this, Also liked that the Courier cleaved an arm clean off some random Raider! :tops:

Did anyone notice the cool animation when the courier shoots and cripples the man in the torso, and he starts staggering, then the last shots finish him. It looked so smooth and sixy unlike previous fallout 3 animations. 'Twas very cool. Hopefully those were coherent sentences.

Same, I just hope there will be enough unique places instead of a bunch of desert with a few Big-Town-Looking places and a city. In FO3 for the most part the locations varied. I hope to see enough military bases and underground places.

I hated the the sewer areas and underground areas in Fallout 3, the light on the Pip-Boy svcked horribly, the maps were bad and I found myself running around for hours underground getting confused/pissed off.

I'd like to have a minimum amount of underground areas and I'd love to see more Military Bases they always give you an excuse to find awesome secret weapons still in development. :tops:

You're right I meant along the lines of bunkers and such. Just not the same old same old. The only place that sticks out to me is jacobstown, and black mountain.

^As long as they're not clone metro stations at least. The thing that bugged me in Fallout 3 was the fact that they all looked the same, and it was hard to tell where you actually were in DC. If there is vast differences between each underground place, then it wouldn't be so bad.

Why are those the only two that look unique to you? Wait is there even footage or pics of black mountain? I haven't been able to see this new video interview but I'm told novac, nippon and a town with convicts are shown. They all look relatively the same?

Geckos walk like frilled lizards  best choice they could have thought of IMO. Iron sights look great, i thought they would be decent but the irons on that rifle look great. And now i know what the dynamite animation looks like. I wonder what Vulpe's weapon of choice is, seeing as he is dressed like a Roman velite(they were skirmishers, you know, javelin throwers).

Novac looks like a small town with a small amount of wooden houses. The other 2 look the same. The only reason Black Mountain appeals to me is be cause it's filled with mutants, and a crazy trans-sixual nightkin with a radio station, and a quest

That's unfortunate. Well hopefully there's more variety in the locations then.

I noticed something with one of the videos where one of the NCR Soldier stepped into the Courier's line of fire and it inadvertently caused a reputation drop with the faction and they could potentially go hostile.

I hate when dumb AI run in the way of my barrage of bullets at the enemy and gets pissed off at me for them running into my line of fire resulting in me getting penalized for their stupidity.

I seiriously doubt there will be metros in Vegas. DC is very famous for it's metros, so I doubt they will be in Vegas. There will be a monorail service in Vegas, so I doubt they will need metro tunnels. I would like to see drainage chambers and sewers from the hoover dam as a substitute for the metros. Where elese would the ferals go?

Sweet preview. On a semi-related note, what T shirt has this man donned and where can I get one?

I think I saw a machine pistol @ 2:40. Could be a smg but the only smgs I've seen are held with 2 hands.
