New players... sheesh!

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 8:49 am

One thing I just found out today after hundreds of hours of gameplay: My character just fought some vampires but got contracted with early stage of vampirism.. pretty nervous about it, no cure disease potion, no town or village nearby (I'm playing without fast travel), but then my character past by some of the mage of vigilant of Stendarr. Came up to them to talk and they actually offer to heal me! Well more specifically they give me an option "Please heal me." And they did! So yes, another way to cure your disease if you are out of cure disease potion like me at that time. :)

I just started a new character and have been trying to actually role play... so after a long day roaming around catching butterflies and picking flowers I retired to the Bannered Mare for some Mead.
I went up to my room and sat on the balcony to listen to the bard and heard Hilda exclaim "Saadia wake up dear!" "Yes ma'am." And a few seconds later Saadia comes to take my order. Lol. Nothing stopping me from going downstairs to buy Mead but having someone wait on me made me say "Bow to the Dovakhin!".

I also just notice this not too long ago, good service in Whiterun inn. :D

Interesting. And all this time I thought the Vigilants of Stendarr were just there to act like jerks and make you feel bad.

I remember when me and my sister first got the game. My sister made my mum try it.

Yeah.
'Mom, you can move while looking... :x"

"What?"

...

"WHAT'S THE ATTACK BUTTON?"

"JUST CLICK"

"CLICK WHAT?"

"THE MOUSE"

...

And my dad? Well I won't get in to that.

Probably should have started them out on something closer to their gaming skill level... maybe pong...

My husband has just discovered that jumping in puddles makes the water move.

He is also in a dilemma over eating his large antlers.... does the choking hazard outweigh the experience earned....

He is cracking me up.

Oh, and rotating the world map, that was recently discovered.
Wait, what? You can rotate the world map?! HOW?! :ooo:

You have to be trolling... You can move bear traps, too!?!?!??!?!?!?
I've heard you can also throw them at enemies with telekinesis. Should you ever feel the need to use other, quite unique, weapons.

Shooting torches out of their brackets was something that surprised me early on. After that, I looked for more things to shoot, just to see if it would work. A useful technique when in dungeons with arcane traps!
Ahhh ... haha yeah yes of course, I knew about that!

*runs off to try it out*

Yes, often when you take a seat in an inn, the owner will command the tavern girl/boy to go take your order, which they do.

Oh yeah, and I see a lot of people not knowing sprint works for horses. Do you realize jump works too? And if you don't move with the horse and press the jump key, it'll "stand on its hind feet" (I can't recall the right term for it).

That's called rearing. For reasons which will remain unspoken.

I figured out the horsey sprint thing, the rearing thing, and a couple of others, but some of these are like bolts out of the blue. When I get a new game, I mess with things, don't read the book on gameplay, like to learn for myself. I had to ask someone on this forum about moving objects around your house, for instance. Duh?

Anyway, good stuff, best thread yet.

i found out that i could mine ores with a pick axe manually earlier on, but when some DUMB miner walked past me, i get a bounty of 40.
Moral of the story: Always get rid of the people nearby if you want to manually mine. By means of getting rid of them, it doesnt matter how as long as they are good and gone.

Does he realise you can move bear traps? Another source of endless time wasting fun.

You can do that?

Ah, discovery. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I figured out that there are little markings on all the buildings in towns and they mean something.

I think I was about 200 hours into Morrowind when I finally discovered I could drag corpses and things around. I spent an entire day building a pillow fort in Balmora :D

It took me a while to learn that if you read the 10 etched tablets on your way up to High Hrothgar, you'd get the Voice of the Sky effect for 24 hours. :tes:

I wondered if it would work in reverse order so I tried it. It works. If you forget on the way up, you can read them all on the way down. :tes:

Bear traps are great in places where enemies are sleeping. Sneak and put traps beside their bed than retreat to the other side of the room and make a noise. I did it with 3 of them once thinking that at least one would get him but he managed to step on all 3 and died.

You can move corpses in Morrowind? I know you can put items in your inventory then place them where you want by dropping them, but I thought that was pretty much all you could do.

I just recently found out you can move bodies and stuff on the XBox while debating to myself whether I should steal a jeweled necklace while holding the A button down. It never said anything about it in the guidebook. So I spent about 20 minutes throwing plates of food at people, triumphantly. Then I threw wolf bodies down a mountain.

I thought dragging was only for the PC for some reason.

I didn't know that was possible either  Everytime I come across an ore vein, it just says "mine ore vein", and I just press X to start watching my char collect it. (yes, I'm on PS3)

Try dual wielding them as well as manual mining, it's faster. ;)

I gave my buddy a loan of the 360 version for a fortnight and deliberately didnt tell him a thing about the game so he could experience it on his own. Two weeks later and I find out that he still has not found a town yet, not even riverwood. And he is overloaded in junk like lanterns and linen wraps.
