Sometimes, it is impossible to NOT chase furry little foxes and beautiful butterflies.. I'll admit, I do that too sometimes. I also like to "fish" but not into it much. I want REAL Fishing!

How could one not get distracted finding alchemical ingredients? ;)

Also they have got the Fishing Rods in the game, why isn't it possible to fish the way you are mining? Would be pretty sweet.

It took me along time before I realised you can shoot hawks out of the sky to get their alchemical ingredients. Not easy though.

Took me a while as well and I am not using the bow for it, using Firebolt is a bit easier imo.

Oh, and rotating the world map, that was recently discovered.

And, last noobie thing, using the End and Home keys when in a screen that uses a slider. Like when bartering your arrows, use the Home Key to get quickly to 1 or the End key when you want to rest 24 hours.

What kind of trickery is this? Need to test it...

First char I played went to High Hrotgar as low level, walked up those 7000 steps, died many times. Learnt what was to be learned and walked back 7000 steps
and died numerous times.

Only second char figured out by chance, that you are a mountaineer.

Instead of 45 minutes of walking back to Whiterun, you can do it 2-3 minutes.

You mean fishing with pickaxes? Sounds over the top to me but each to their own, I guess :)

Some hunters have fishing rods, but you can't touch them.

They catch fish, you only jump in the water and grab them, if lucky.

It took me 200+ hours to figure how to make a simple invisible potion. It shouldn't take that long, game is broken and your husband is awesome.

Is he a total newbie to this kind of gaming? Or just to Skyrim?

Pretty much a total newbie - he's Mr. Suit & Tie Guy. He played Halo for about a month... he's hooked now, though.

I just hope I don't regret it....

Combat Evolved, right? It's heresy to give him Halo, and not start with CE.
But it's good that you introduced another one to gaming, world domination is imminent! :chaos:

It took me a while to learn that if you read the 10 etched tablets on your way up to High Hrothgar, you'd get the Voice of the Sky effect for 24 hours. :tes:

Animals won't attack or flee from you. You can walk right by a sleeping bear and he won't jump in your face. Other creatures are affected too. Walking through a cave full of spiders was spooky but they don't attack. :tes:

Creatures aren't revealed to you with VOTS like they are with Kyne's Peace. I'm not sure about any other differences except that it's nice to just walk around for a while and not have a sabrecat jump in your face. There may be differences if someone attacks the animal while either of these are in effect. I never do so I don't know. It's difficult when a creature attacks another NPC. Do you protect the NPC and kill the animal to save the person? :tes:

I was way further than that into the game before I realized that you could swing a pickaxe manually at an ore vein to mine. It did not ever occur to me to do that until I read about it on this forum and I have been playing these games for years.

Great, now I have to walk up those steps again. High Hrothgar is a place I always fast travel to even if I am playing "No Fast Travel"

Same. The steps are tedious, even if it is more like 1.500 steps than 7.000.

It's handy when an NPC is mining a vein and won't move.
