New Skyrim DLC is probably called 'Dawnguard'

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:40 pm

Found this today on a gaming blog. Seems legit. Apparently this is the trademark application being filedhttp://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=85546517. Look at the owners address and the 'type of goods/services'.

Zenimax has many divisions working on different games so it might not be anything to do with Skyrim.

True one should take this with a pinch of salt, but it may be legit.

[Desperately tries to convince self that 'Dawnguard' could somehow be the name of a sequel to 'Dark corners of the Earth', realises the enormous foolishness of the endeavour, that in no way would it fit by any stretch of the imagination, carries on with humdrum existence.]

K... Could easily be faked though... I would rather wait for Bethesda to say something rather then trust a random person on an internet forum/blog.

not useless at all, you do realise this website was used to correctly grab all the Warcraft expansion set names before they where even anounced, so that alone proves this site does not hold useless info if you know what your looking for.

Sure its skyrim related? and what is that site actually? i am confused

basically a Patent website as a company (or individual) it shows applications etc (or there abouts) of official information being either A) Granted or B : applied for, i.e. - names, trade marks, copy rights, rights etc etc.

its .gov, its official.

as to if this relates to Skyrim theres no solid evidence on that page stating anything of the sort.

It is still useless... We all know there will be expanions? Why do we need to know of them ahead of time? Leave it alone...

So, no thread without a discussion. I vote 'your best possible interpretation of what this could mean'.

For me, Dawnguard is the name of the Maormer flagship.

because some people (granted i agree with you Vaen that theres no point in it) like to figure out the names of things to come, for example MMO champion / IGN etc will all use these methods to try and correctly predict, thus causing hype about a release or something possible in devopment, they did it alot with the Zelda and Mario series aswell.

this is a general discussion forum so i see no problem with this being here, if you have nothing constructive to say move along and let the thread die, but again there isnt really much to say or discuss with this anyway as just as you put it, its pretty useless info with such little to go on, if for instance it stated like WoW expansions does registered names then its pretty much a forgone conclusion however this isnt the case with Skyrim, also i wouldnt imagine a DLC would need any sort of tittle protection atleast not unless it was a fully fleshed out expansion where Dawnguard actually becomes a trademark. a good example of not needing protection is online games DLC such as ''Dragon Soul'' etc, i know i've used WoW as a guinea pig here so just go with it :P

No one said the site holds useless info, only that the info in this matter is useless.

While hype is a good thing to sell a product, it's generally not a good idea to hype something before the details are even down... People are going to start predicting things which are very untrue, spreading them, then the word of mouth will travel so far to the point where people believe that those rumors are truth when they are actually complete misconceptions. Then the dissapointment when the product releases comes, people rage and moan, spread the word, then it gets bad reviews/sales...
While it is fun to play a guessing game and debate the contents, there is also alot of dumb people out there who will believe these things lol... Still, thanks for the info =)

you get my point, i dont see the need to point out a slight oversight on a paragraph the end result is still the same statement/fact/info whatever you want to call it.

oh i totally agree!

anyway enough arguing i say we either discuss the possibility of it being true or leave it to others who wish to do so, so on the note of a guessing game;

Vampire Related, Dawnguard will be a faction like the silver hand which hunts down vampires leading to the Volkhar (however you spell it) like the civil war you can choose a side, thats my prediction providing the name holds truth.

Maybe it will involve Azura? Maybe Hammerfell? We shall see~ Eitherway i hope it's something big, or close to the size of the Shivering Isles or the Tribunal/Bloodmoon.

What about DAWNbreaker?

Let's face it - it could be about anything. Unless it was called something like "battling the Falmer in their underground kingdom" the title doesn't really tell you anything.
