So, no thread without a discussion. I vote 'your best possible interpretation of what this could mean'.

For me, Dawnguard is the name of the Maormer flagship.

"Dawnguard" is an expansion for Skyrim based around the Vampires of Skyrim and the Vigilants of Stendarr attempting to oppose them. You can join either the Vigilants of Stendarr's subsect; the "Dawnguard" who specialize in fighting Vampires, or you can join the Volkihar, or the Sanguinare. Lamae Beolfag is the antagonist of it, we've already seen concept art of her before Skyrim was even released http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4lrm97dBqNo/TUFlxQiW7CI/AAAAAAAAAZM/n_xn6TWnSA8/s1600/artofskyrim_013_femmonster.jpg?__sf=1303445029.

EEUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuulllll. I guess all the "Twilight" groupies obsessed with twisted animalistic anguish/passions would like this. I'm really hoping for something a bit more original than that.....

Maybe a new town in west Morrowind built by the refugees fleeing from Vvanderfell?
(Hopes that the two roads leading there were implemented for some higher purpose)

It is still useless... We all know there will be expanions? Why do we need to know of them ahead of time? Leave it alone...

let me ask you all something: why would zenimax file a copyright claim instead of bethesda if it had to do with TES? the skyrim copyright claim was filed by BETHESDA, not zenimax..

If this was a DLC, it immediately makes me think of both "Dragonguard" and "dawn" as in "new beginnings"/"new era". Like a Blades faction renaming themselves for a new era. Now before I sound like a blades fan, I think it'd be interesting if they named themselves that way regardless if you were friendly with them and had conflict. As for them trying to reform, there's nothing stopping them from trying, even without your help.

Or it could be anything. I do like the idea of a "dawn" though when it comes to Skyrim. Regardless of who's involved.

For me it's not Skyrim-related. The official publisher for Skyrim and its DLC is Bethesda Softworks, owner of Bethesda Games Studios, not Zenimax Media. "Dawnguard" could be also a new title of the TES Travels series, developed by Vir2L Studios, wich is owned directly by Zenimax.

IIRC there was already a TES travels:Dawnstar game. I doubt they would use a name of the same style again... so it's probably (emphasis on probably) Skyrim related :)

This would be such a letdown. We need expansion packs like SI. Not just a new questline in the same area

..what about a simple name even gives you the slightest idea as to the contents of whatever this is...? where are you getting this "letdown" idea? what insinuates that? you have nothing to go off..

Because Bethesda is a Zenimax division.
except that for when bethesda trademarked skyrim, BETHESDA did it, not zenimax..zenimax is trademarking "dawnstar"..i'm not really sure i see the relation to the elder scrolls...

Look at this: http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=77044247. The original Skyrim trademark, filed on 2006-11-15 (around the time after oblivion was released) by ZeniMax. Expired 2010-08-30, then a new trademark application filed again at 2010-06-21 (Skyrim would be announced just 3 months later) http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=85067861 which is the current registered trademark. Both done by Zenimax, not Bethesda...

"Dawnguard" might be a new island off the coast of Skyrim sort of like Solstheim.

If this is the case, I think I will be disappointed. But I will not jump to conclusions just yet.
