New Skyrim DLC is probably called 'Dawnguard'

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 9:54 pm

I hope if it turns out to be true, it doesnt center too much on Dawnstar, most of the npcs there are dead for me from dragon attacks.

Although if true, would really love to see the player able to take over and invest in the town. After buying houses gold can become a bit useless. Something like Assassins creed where you open stores or upgrade current facilities and in turn earn money back from it, would fit into Skyrim really well. Maybe then I can invest in some decent defenses for the poor people of Dawnstar, so at least some can survive.

This is definitely TES related. Dawnguard, huh? I see something to do with Mythic Dawn or Dawnstar, and possibly the followers of that god that hates abominations. Bethesda did say they wanted to add to the game, instead of adding new areas, first.

It seems a little early for a dlc, looking at the trend of other dlcs from Beth, but if it is, hope it's a good one. Todd did say, it was going to take Beth longer to bring out dlcs for Skyrim than usual, but they were to going to be sizes of expansions, so this is probably for one of their other titles.

You usually want to reserve the name well ahead of publication so it isn't snatched up by someone else. There are lots of instances of that happening. It would only be smart of them to reserve the title. So I'm erring on the side of this being Skyrim DLC.

I'm not holden my breath!! I was one of the few 360 players that refused to pay to play until I found out the only way I was gonna get the expansions for Oblivion was to go online or buy the collecters edition which still only had Knights of the nine and the Shirving isles for $30 when I paied $60 for Oblivion when it came out, so I waited 6 years being stubborn and all, finally broke down and got xbox live so I'm pretty sure I can hold out for Skyrims DLC. I just hope it's massive and not useless like horse armor, perhaps a whole new land mass w/quest just like Shirvering isle. But if I had a goog guess, it sounds like something tied with Azura or the Mythic dawn.

Seeing that the Thalmor are trying to return things to the Dawn Era... "Dawnguard" sounds feasible.

Maybe~ We need more Thalmor interaction... Aka killing them all and saving the Altmer/Bosmer who were forced to join them...

Hey,This doesnt mean DLC for skyrim will be released too early, its just something else.
IT could be the name of the upcoming skyrim expansion.

If it is something to do with the Mythic Dawn, I'm interested to see what they have come up with.

lol why would so many people try and dispute whether this is Skyrim related? Obviously it is, rumors of this nature are always legit and Dawnstar is the name of a town in the game...

You have to figure that the DLC is coming out in 30 days or so. Maybe longer, it could be 60 days. However, those filings were dated just last week. I would think that Bethesda would have secured rights to a name on something they intended to publish in the near future much earlier.

It might be for a later DLC or another game that they are working on, but I doubt it will be the first DLC for Skyrim.

I'm surprised no one mentionned this yet:

Current Status: New application will be assigned to an examining attorney approximately 3 months after filing date.

Filing Date: 2012-02-17

So if it is the first DLC, that means an attorney will look at it only around mid-May, so you'd have to assume even more time before it comes out, passes through Microsoft's approval, etc. And then one more month for you non-Xbox users.

What about DAWNbreaker?

Let's face it - it could be about anything. Unless it was called something like "battling the Falmer in their underground kingdom" the title doesn't really tell you anything.
Don't forget DAWNfang.

It is still useless... We all know there will be expanions? Why do we need to know of them ahead of time? Leave it alone...

For the same reason there's "pre-releases" and "pre-orders". An incredibly childlike lack of patience.

This would be such a letdown. We need expansion packs like SI. Not just a new questline in the same area

Apparently we'll be getting those, too. Skyrim desperately needs some meaty quests. If this fulfils that, I'll be more than happy.

Kind of a stupid name, whether it has to do with the town of Dawnstar or Azura.

Hoping it isn't Skyrim, just because of that.

Just a thought : the Nords view the Dawn Era not as the first events of this Kalpa, but the end of the last one. To them, the next Dawn is not the beginning of the next world after this one is destroyed, but the end of this world. With Aegnir saying maybe you should let this world be destroyed, what are the results of the Dovahkiin stopping Alduin if it simply wasn't supposed to happen?

Would something like this be in an expansion? Highly unlikely, but one can always hope.

Even if it is Skyrim related, it will probably be just a Working Title and not the actual Name of a DLC or Expansion...
