New Vegas - Good or Bad guys?

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 12:41 pm

Ok, well it's simple
Which team are more of the good guys?
Legion- Slavers.
N.C.R.- Limits almost only water source and electricity.
Which one is more evil?
I've got a profile for both side ( Good and Evil )
Which small time gangs should I join before I go to ________________ ?
Evil (As far as I know)- Great Khans, Powder Gangers
Good (As far as I know)- The Kings
I don't know alot of small time gangs because I just Beat the final Kings mission.
So I'm limited to certain gangs. Because as soon as I started the game,
I was anxious to go to New Vegas, no matter how many DeathClaws their are
on the way there.

I think both of the major factions are pretty grey they both want to exploit Vegas but at least the Legion comes with the benefit of being safe from everything.

Other than the chem manufacturing I really sympathize with the Khans, especially after hearing about Bitter Springs.

Both are good and both are bad. Just in different ways.

I side with myself instead.

When you kill NCR you lose Karma (I think)
When you kill Legion you gain Karma
NCR=Good and Bad
Legion= Good and Bad
Powder Gangers= Bad
Khans= Neutral or Bad
Boomers= Neutral
Feral Ghouls= Bad
Ghouls and Jason Bright Brotherhood= Neutral
The Strip= Neutral or Bad, I doubt they are good
Followers OTA= Very Good or Good
Brotherhood= Neutral or Bad
Super Mutants= neutral
Raider/Fiend= Bad or Very Bad
Nightkin= Bad
I've edited my list

They're both pretty gray if you think high taxes, overbearing bureaucracy, and a corrupt democracy is morally equivalent to a brutal dictatorship comprised of [censored], murdering slavers.

While both sides do have good and evil aspects to them the NCR is clearly the morally good faction and the Legion is horrendously evil by any contemporary definition of the term.

If you had to label a faction evil it would end up being the Legion.

The NCR are good people, but they are still strict about water.
Legion are bad people, because they enslave people.

Actually the ncr are slavers too. Look up the term sharecroppers and what happened to blacks who were sharecroppers.

Most people from both groups are neutral. There are more good NCR character than good Legion characters, but there's no karma associated with killing average soldiers from either group.

NCR=Good

NCR is a corrupt semi-democracy that strong-arms anyone weaker than they are. They are better than the legion but they aren't good.

Boomers= Neutral or Good

The Boomers greatest wish is to repair their bomber and rain death on the primitives of the wastes (primative = everyone that isn't them)

Just because they are polite doesn't mean they are good.

Ghouls= Bad

Racist :sadvaultboy:

Super Mutants= Bad

How are Khans evil?

They stood around and let a badly dressed jerk shoot me in the head. That alone makes them evil enough for me.

How are Khans evil?

I don't know.
My friend is farther than me, and he said the Khans are Evil.
That's why I said "As far as I know."
Because I wasn't 100% on it.

Exactly, everyone keeps saying the boomers are good, but apparently they didn't take the history lesson.

You take that back. Benny is suave and dapper. You're just jealous because you want his suit.

No. That's still not slavery and there's zero evidence that NCR sharecropping is anything like sharecropping in the post-war South.

They used the same name for a reason and that is slavery. It's called indentured servitude.

That's a leap. The instance you're referring to happened in the past. The sharecroppers in the NCR don't have that same problem.

The Legion is ruthless and to the point, but their overall intentions aren't bad. And I'd call their methods in the big picture more efficient than the bureaucratic pseudo-democracy of the NCR (which also is ruthless in its own manner).

You don't know that and I've learned that writers name things specifically for a reason. They could have just called then farmers.

Yeah, the NCR sharecroppers aren't slaves. Plus sharecropping has been around a lot longer than America.

Yes because sharecropping describes the type of farming in which they are engaged. Presumably they get a portion of the crops they harvest off NCR land and the rest goes to the NCR. Sharecropping does not automatically mean they are being oppressed, abused and forcibly indebted to the NCR as occurred to many black farmers in the South.

Remember the Outcasts in Fallout 3? The ones who think that Lyons had betrayed the Brotherhood's principles and left?

They were right.

They most likely named them sharecroppers because the term best fit what they do. The term "sharecropper" isn't another term for slavery. It's just a term used to describe an arrangement between workers and the land owner where the workers are allowed to work the land and the owner takes a cut of the profit. Think of it like renting a place to live. Just replace "live" with "farm".

You obviously havent explored the games dialogue enough.

As much as I hate the Legions behavior, their brutality helped them civilize Arizona and New Mexico. Raul helped me ease up on my dislike of Caesars Legion. Do I dislike them? Very much so. But Caesars Legion helped,albeit brutally, civilize parts of the East, AND they protect caravaners (so long as they arent selling poisons like chems or booze) way more than NCR does. NCR simply sends like, one guard, and if the caravan is killed? They complain about how they were attacked and thats it. Caesars Legion, for all it's brutality, is more willing to take action against all opposition.

Edit: @Mango- Oh please. The Brotherhood of Steel in the D.C. did not betray the old principles, they still collected technology, which is pretty much one of the only principles the BoS has, they just value human life more than the old divisions out west.
