New Vegas Voice Actors

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 1:28 pm

From what I heard in various bits of gameplay, they have much less (or even none at all?) reusage of the same actors, whereas in FO3 every 3rd asian guy you met had the same VO, whereas in NV every person seems to have different voice.

Indeed, I hear the NPC's will have more voices, back in TES every male and female of a certain race had the same voice. Sometimes two races shared a voice. E.G: All male Nords and Orcs have the same voice in Oblivion.

Im so glad they cleared that up, to some extent.

To try and bring this thing back on it's tracks, let's get to discussing the voice actors again. Namely Ron Perlman.

Someone mentioned that they wish there was a Ron Perlman NPC. I doubt there would be such a thing as he's the Narrator.. I loved having him there in the past games, and he's a welcome addition.

One thing Im bummed out about though is the fact that Wes Johnson won't be making a comeback this time round. For those of you who don't know him, he was Mr. Burke in FO3, and plenty of people in Oblivion, he was male Imperial voice. (Which means Lucien Lechance, Arena Announcer, the Guards, Sheogorath...)..

He's been with Bethesda a while and I think it's a shame he won't be in this one..

I think it's a bit unfortunate that none of the cast of Firefly are doing voiceover work for the Fallout games. Actors such as Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Gina Torres and Jewel Staite would suit this series perfectly, and I believe they've all done voiceovers for computer games before. Fillion's & Baldwin's characters in Firefly have influenced all my main characters in Fallout 3, in one way or another.

To my knowledge, yes.

I looked up the entire IMDB page, and Wes Johnsons IMDB profile. Not a single thing about NV. If he has a minor role that goes uncredited, it would be different, but he's good with the more prolific roles, like that of Burke.. using him as a space-filler would be a huge waste of talent..

Ah, yes, Firefly. I loved that show. Such a shame it was so short. Movie was good too though, I dare-say almost as good as Star-Trek.

Baldwin's bad-ass clueless brute character would've suited Boone perfectly, IMO. Now that I think about it, all of them would be great in there. Well, we always have FO4. :P

But why would you? Matthew Perry is so lovable! He's actually my favorite character in Friends.. and the fact that he's coming in a game escalates him even further!

Yeah, that is a shame. He is just so friggin good - especially with a well written character. I think his acting for Sheogorath is perhaps some of the best voice work I've ever heard in a game - maybe even some movies. And the writing for that character was also superb which enhanced his performance I'm sure. But the guy is great, hands down! I will miss him too.

im guessing standard Protectron or Mr. Handy/Mr. Gutsy voice. Although I don't think he'll have one as Eyebot's were there to spread radio messages, not express their own ideas. I don't even think they have an AI..

Indeed his Sheogorath was the best ever. I had no idea Sheogorath and Lucien Lechance were voiced by one in the same! I never would've guessed it..

I hope to god they give him anything but those standard voices, I want him as my long term companion for his perk, but would be annoyed if he had such a derivative voice. And he has to have some form of communication,
Spoiler
otherwise how are we to get his personal quest.

Spoiler
Perhaps they would come written on a screen, or something. Maybe a note.
But you're right, he should have a voice. I personally like the dog follower way more. What's his name, Rex?

Ron Perlman is a great guy to keep coming back over and over again to do the Narrator in each game, but his dialogue doesn't add up to very long in total.

Oh I don't know, he felt he had enough dialogue in Fallout 2 to threaten Avellone with bodily harm.

I like what we know and seen of the voice cast well enough. Admittedly though even after looking her up I still have no idea who Felicia Day is, and what the big deal is with her. I sure hope Bethesda and Obsidian didn't blow all of their acting budget on these guys though; I'd rather have a wider range of talented voice actors than a bunch of random celebrities.

One thing Im bummed out about though is the fact that Wes Johnson won't be making a comeback this time round. I think the lack of one decent VA is a small price to pay for overall better voice acting. There's a higher pool of high quality VAs in California which is why BioWare, despite being located in Canada, always goes to California to gather and record their American voice actors. I think Bethesda should really consider doing the same thing from now on because from what we've heard in New Vegas, the voice acting is much, much better than the rather artificial voice acting of Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3.

You sure? Cause he's the one that shot you in the face and left to rot in a shallow grave

Yeah, I would've tagged that. :P

Anyway, still.. It's Matthew Perry, he can get away with it.

As for ED-E, that idea is brilliant, it would be epic if they did that..

THIS! It took me a bit to realize it as well. From the cold, dry and subtle line, "Dear Brother/Sister, I do not spread rumors, I create them" of Lachance, to the boisterous and quite hilarious quips like, "Cat's out of the bag on that one, isn't it? Who puts cats in bags, anyway? Cats hate bags." in a loud Scottish accent. They're quite different to say the least. Carry on!

This is a really good group of voice actors I'm impressed that Obsidian was able to pull this off. Its probably Perry that help out the most since he was a big fan of Fallout 3 from what I've heard

I'm not really excited about the voice actors, if only Bruce Willis or Jason Statham were doing some of the voices.

Now i like Mathew Perry. Who would have guessed that he was a fallout 3 fan?

Well Jim Carrey is a fan of Death metal, so i guess it could happen.

You can't exactly judge what a persons likes or dislikes are.. Those actors are really huge stars.. Bethesda takes big stars too, but the more under-appreciated ones, such as Sean Bean and Terrence Stamp..

But they've also had the likes of Patrick Stewart and Liam Neeson, so I guess it's balanced..
