Hey fellas, sorry if a thread like this was made recently, but we all know how badly the search engine svcks.

Anyway, am I the only one pumped about all the great actors that will have roles in this latest Fallout game? I mean, the cast includes the likes of Danny Trejo, Matthew Perry, Felicia Day, and reprising his role as "The Narrator" is Ron Perlman. Is that an epic cast or what?

For those of you who don't know, Danny Trejo was the guy in hit film "Machete", Matthew Perry was Chandler Bing from the popular TV show F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Felicia Day is the star of the show "The Guild", and Ron Perlman is known for his role as "Hellboy" and also stars in the show called "Sons of Anarchy".

That's a pretty bad-ass cast, IMO. What do you guys think?

TBH, apart from Ron Perlman, Danny Trejo, and Matthew Perry. I really don't know those Voice Actors xD

I'm happy that they'll be lending some of their time to FNV but I'm a bit reserved, because Bethesda once advertised Patrick Stewart (Picard from Star Trek) doing the voice of the King in Oblivion and Liam Neeson as Dad/James in FO3 - but both of those roles were rather short. Even Michael Dorn (Worf from Star Trek), when he did FO2 didn't have much to say once you realize he had a grand total of only few minutes of dialogue. Same with Dean Anderson (MacGuyver, Gen O'Neil in Stargate Universe). Ron Perlman is a great guy to keep coming back over and over again to do the Narrator in each game, but his dialogue doesn't add up to very long in total.

So I'm glad I'll be hearing their voices in this game for a little bit, but I'm not going to be as excited as I would be if any of them delivered lots and lots of dialogue as if they were doing a radio play. No, Malcolm McDowell is the only one who came close to that as President Eden over the radio but it still wasn't that long.

It is a damned good cast. I'd never heard of Felicia Day until she was cast in this :shrug:

But with Ron Perlman and Michael Dorn reprising their voice roles and great character actors like William Sadler, Kris Kristofferson and Rene Auberjonois, as well as the legend Danny Trejo, and lets not forget the more comedic Zachary Levi and Matthew Perry, Obsidian have realy outdone themselves (and if I may say so, any other game in history) on the casting front.

I am really looking forward to hearing them all in action.

I think the best part about having Felicia Day as part of the cast is that I know she is rather likely to actually play the game she voiced in :laugh:

Maybe she'll do a special Fallout-esque episode of The Guild? :fallout:

I (mostly) disagree. Liam Neeson has more dialogue than most of the (individual) charactrers in that game and was definitely giving us a real performance, not a placeholder for his paycheck. Michael Dorn played TWO characters in FO2 and had quite a lot of lines for the VA standard in those days, as did the other prerecorded characters. Fallout realldy diod (and does) use its performers wisely and well.

As for Oblivion, well... yes, Patrick Stewart's role is incredibly anticlimactic and it really felt more like a cameo than flesged out character. Still, Sean Bean deserves an award for carrying that storyline on his shoulders.

Yeah I've since looked at her profile and see she has been in 3 things I watch, Lie To Me, House and Buffy. Still didn't know who she was lol.

Indeed, most characters were short lived in previous games, epecially Emperor Uriel Septim in Oblivion played by Patrick Stewart, but here, we have Danny Trejo playing Raul the Ghoul. He's a follower, so should get plenty of dialogue outta him. That's one name-star right there. I don't know about the other characters though, but just having Ron Perlman there, IMO is a big deal.

It's a perfectly fine lineup of voice actors. I don't think any of them tops Liam Neeson or Malcolm McDowell, however. Then again, those are two of my absolute favorite actors, so the only way to truly top them would be to cast Clint Eastwood. I'll cross my fingers for Fallout 4.

I agree that it would probably be advisable for you to stay off the forums until after you have played the game, if a name is a spoiler to you. When you started criticizing HA for spoiling you, I thought you were referring to the Emperor's death in Oblivion, as I really didn't see how "Raul" is a spoiler. If the fact that he is voiced by Danny Trejo is the spoiler you had in mind, then you must be aware of who Danny Trejo is, and thus be able to recognise his extremely unique voice in the game the instant you meet Raul--and deduce that Raul is likely a follower since he has such a high profile voice actor, despite not being a big name in New Vegas. In any case, don't enter a thread about voice actors, if you consider information on voice actors to be a spoiler.

This has a fantastic lineup of actors. I'm not sure what the standard is, but it seems like enough talent for a blockbuster movie/TV series to me. Which is pretty impressive for a game imo

I didn't explicitly state the Emperors death by the way, I just mentioned he had a short role.

Looking up at my post I see that I typed his role was "short-lived".. I guess it's a pun.

However, unlike FO3 & Oblivion, I do hope that they used more than 3 or 4 other actors for all the other parts. Even if they are only secondary NPC's in the game, it would just add much more to the experience if we had different voices. I know this has been discussed ad nauseum so I won't harp on it, but here's hoping we have a few more actors than what we have had in the past!

From what I heard in various bits of gameplay, they have much less (or even none at all?) reusage of the same actors, whereas in FO3 every 3rd asian guy you met had the same VO, whereas in NV every person seems to have different voice.

Maturity, eh? You understand that you're essentially throwing a temper tantrum over a video game, right? You need to settle down because it's common knowledge that forums that focus on a game are going to be spoilerific - and especially messages that blatantly state in the title that it's going to discuss something you apparently don't want to know. If you didn't want to know anything you should have been mature and disciplined enough to either avoid said message or forum, or not go into a nuclear rage just because you now have an idea what's about to happen.

I really don't understand how you can be so angry about knowing which voice actor is playing what character. You don't even know what the character is going to say, or what their personality is like. Like somebody else mentioned: Do you rage whenever a movie preview mentions which actor is cast in the role of a movie?

Uh, Ron Perlman was always the narrator since '97
Though him playing a NPC would be nice.
