New WoW Expansion Announced

But I will agree with you on one thing; they look downright stupid.

I wonder what the females will look like? Assuming they were all male cause they had beard-plait-things :P

What is boggling my mind right now is that both horde and alliance can play them. 0.o

The game is dead to me, it died during Cataclysm. This new expansion is just ridiculous. This may have been Warcraft lore before Kung Fu Panda, but it still doesn't diminish how uncanny the comparison is. Why make an expansion based off of the most ridiculous part of the lore? Everyone I knew had their money on the emerald dream, but instead we get [censored] pandas.

Anyone who played vanilla or TBC knows just how far the game has fallen.

I am sad to see it die, because my most memorable gaming experiences have been in WoW.

Reading the forums is quite funny, there is an official [Goodbye] thread with over 2 thousand post in it LOL this was announced less than 2 hours ago and already this many people are quitting, or at least saying they are.

This can only end badly.

Oh, you're a dev? You were in on the inside joke at Blizzard HQ when they decided to put Pandaran monks in a game that came out years before the Panda Monk cliche started? Interesting.

But I will agree with you on one thing; they look downright stupid.

Considering Samwise Didier created the Pandaren and Blizzard has said it was a joke race I'm pretty sure of it. And I meant the cliché of eastern culture, not Pandas per se. They're pretty much every martial arts movie combined, so that's pretty lame.

I dabbled in private servers for a little. I never bought a subscription, and I never will.

This expansion looks hilariously stupid, and it's not changing my mind. Pandas, really? Not only as a playable race, but as the focus of an entire expansion? Really?

Interesting tidbit: I'm taking Chinese 101 this semester, and "ren" means "person". Is this coincidence, or did Blizzard really name this race "Panda people"?

I will congratulate Blizzard on one thing, though. They realize people do absolutely NOTHING right now at 85, and that is so freaking true. Life at 85 is literally sitting in Org or SW. That's. It. Nothing. Else. YOu wait for Q pops, you wait for someone to mass summon the entire raid somewhere, I mean it's NOTHING right now. The game is DEAD right now.

Hopefully, for people who still play, blizzard will change that.

This use to be my favorite game. Now it doesn't even feel the same, maybe it's cause I have been playing since it launched....it's just every aspect of the game is different.

However I will say the environments look nice and I love oriental culture so this appeals to me in that way but playing a the Pandaren does not(though they are a valid race in warcraft lore) the "pet battles" seem silly, challenge modes like beating times in a dungeon seems silly. I think I might be done after 4.3. I planned on reactivating my sub when it came out and trying it one last time.

The thing about most remakes, prequels, or sequels, is that they don't have to affect the original. If you don't like a remake of something, you can just enjoy the original.

With wow, the original is gone, forever. That's what makes me so mad about this expansion, it's just like piling on more feces onto the decaying corpse of the once great game.

Ugh this thread did make me nostalgic for some pre-WotLK WoW though. Too bad there's nothing that can be done, private servers are crappy anyway.

Yeah, that's a problem with MMOs, not only expansions but regular updates. Luckily LOTRO (which I do still occasionally play) seems to have improved with the latest expansion. Maybe not end-game content, which I wouldn't know about, but I like a lot of the class changes.

WoW players, jump ship and try LOTRO. It's free, sort of

I loved vanilla WoW, liked TBC and was a bit burned out in WOTLK which lead to me not really getting Cataclysm until it had been out for a while. Cataclysm was fine because the quests could be fun but playing by yourself only questing gets repetitive when everything is so easy and the feel of the game is gone. The aesthetic look of the game is even gone now with the old beautiful landscape all torn up making it look like some general fantasy world where things are just placed randomly with little thought rather than a world carefully crafted to look realistic and nice.

WoW was at its best in either Vanilla or TBC, can't really decide which (I probably have a special gripe on TBC since I hated the alien look of Outland) I liked more, maybe vanilla.

Well most good things come and pass, come to think of it TES is probably the longest running series I know that has kept most of its quality through time. :tes: Now where is my 'Smiley hugging a Bethesda sign' smiley ?

I was intentionally waiting until after Blizzcon to see if I wanted to resub, and now I'm really glad I did wait. I watched the trailer, it almost seems like the whole expansion is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, but I don't think anybody sees it that way.

Well, The Old Republic just got a whole lot more popular. I'll be in that group.

Agreed 100%.

But please don't jinx the TES series! :cryvaultboy:

Edit: From MMO-Champ: "Pandaren starting zone

* It's a turtle! It left Pandaria 10 000 years ago and never came back. Pandarens who wanted to discover the world left on that turtle."

Ok, what the [censored]?

Ugh, I honestly believe I will at least buy it, play it and try a Pandaren Monk just because I have gotten so much enjoyment from this series. I just read the blue post on MMO Champ. I hate to say I know the lore and it's always been that Pandaren were extremely rare to see outside of their home and no one was able to find it so it's not surprising that their making it like it is.

Reading the news feed about it from blizzcon on MMOChampion, I just can't take some of this seriously LOL. This seems so absurd and outlandish, even for WoW.

It makes me genuinly sad to see what's happening to a game that I so thoroughly enjoyed for ~5 years.

I didn't think they could make a race worse than the Worgen... I guess I was wrong.

Silence! Worgen were awesome.

It looks pretty cool, but The Old Republic will be taking all of my attention.

I've been done with the game for a year now, and this expansion is most definitely not going to get me to play again.

This expansion is Blizzard's last gag, I hope, before they release TITAN(or whatever they are calling it now).

The more I look and read about it the more I feel unsure about it....they're removing my shamans buff totems? All utility now...I don't know..I just don't. I want to still like this game.

Cancelled my subscription in July and I have no desire to play a "Panda". The game has gone from the sublime to the ridiculous since BC. Thank goodness there are a ton of good single player RPGs out there to keep me busy.
