New WoW Expansion Announced

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 12:12 am

Pretty sure that someone else will make a better thread within five seconds of me posting this, but what the heck!

So Blizzard just announced their latest WoW expansion, Mists of Pandaria at the BlizzCon opening ceremony. What do you think of it? I was expecting it because of the rumours but its still cool :D

There's going to be;

New talent system
Pandaren playable race
New area- Pandaria
New Monk class
Level cap raised to 90
Dungeon challenge mode
PVE Scenarios
Pet Battle System

Also, there isn't going to be a major "villain" but it will focus of the Alliance v Horde war.

I was thinking if there's only 1 new race does that mean they're neutral? As in you can go to both Horde and Alliance territory?

EDIT- Apparently you play through a phased introduction and then choose Alliance/Horde. http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/10/21/blizzcon-2011-pandaren-will-be-playable-by-both-the-horde-and-a/

Not even Pandas can save a dying game. WoW got less fun with Wrath, and even less fun with Cata. I don't see the trend changing.

Which is sad, because I really wanted that BC feeling again. Just won't happen. It's over.

Here's the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyeZ8khSEC0, btw. For the new xpac.

I'm so glad I quit WoW around 4.2. They completely butchered the ruins of a once great game with patch 3.2, I just held on for the PvP.
The game is an absolute joke now, Pandaren were meant as a joke, not as a serious race.

There are things I will always miss. Such as everything pre-TBC and TBC, my massive mount collection, all my PvP reputations, honourable kills, etc.. But I'm really glad I cut myself loose from WoW.

P.s. I think it's pathetic how they try to save the WoW subscribers loss by giving away Diablo 3 with a 1 year WoW subsciption.

WHAT !? NO WAY! Seriously, they already ruled out Pandaren in TBC because they would not have been allowed to sell the game in China, are they now going the whole way and make an expansion based around them ?

Too funny. They haven't even finished Cataclysm yet and they are already trying to get people to forget about it by releasing the next expansion.

I didn't think they could make a race worse than the Worgen... I guess I was wrong.

Oh wow that trailer... Absolutely rediculous.

Maybe I should sell my old account. R13, ZG Tiger, Ashes of Al'ar, etc. should help me get some money for a graphics card. Assuming there are still idiots that buy WoW accounts.

Meh. I had fun for a bit, but I'm done with WoW for good. Would be funny to see all the pandas running around though.

...kind of like they have done with EVERY expansion..? With the exception of BC, every single expansion for WoW has been announced at blizzcon roughly one year prior to release, when the last tier of raiding/pvp season is about to start. I'm not really sure what you're trying to say honestly.

I didn't think they could make a race worse than the Worgen... I guess I was wrong.

I tend to agree. It just looks silly.

I think calling people "idiots" is a bit harsh. Just because someone enjoys something you don't, that means they're idiots? In that case, just about every single one of you people is an "idiot" in my book.
Get off your high horse qtpi.

As far as the general feel of the trailer, I didn't get goosebumps at all. I almost cried when the BC CGI trailer came out, I DID cry when the WOTLK trailer came out, and when the Cata trailer came out, I had major goosebumps.

This one, nah. I'm not excited in the least. Cata will be my last chapter in WoW, I'm afraid. Although I can't even say I had a "chapter" in cata; my account hasn't been active in months. Just didn't have that..."WoW" feel like BC had, and somewhat of Wrath.

Nah. Buying a WoW account when the game is obviously on its last legs is pretty stupid, I think I can call people that still buy accounts idiots. Especially those that pay high prices for them.

They made an entire expansion based off Kung-Fu Panda?

I wonder if Jack Black does any of the voices...

Yeah I forgot I can't have opinions. My bad.

Edit: The person above me perfectly describes why I feel it's ok to call people wanting to buy WoW accounts at this time idiots.

Used to play wow...alot.
Started near the end of Burning crusade, played through that and then through most of wotlk, got bored and lost interest then stopped a few months before cata release.

Played again after cata release for maybe 2 months, then just got bored again.
Been trying to get back into it recently as a friend started playing again. Just doesnt feel fun anymore for me.

I log in and either just run around orgrimar, maybe do a bg, then log out bored again or else i log in, cant really be bothered and log back out.
Not sure ill even get this new pandaraia

Had much the same feelings after played Rift for about a month also. Think im just bored of mmos. Hoping guild wars 2 will change that.

No, those people are actually idiots since buying an account violates the terms of use and will result in the account being banned and thus a 100% loss of the money they paid when it is discovered just so that they can skip what amounts to 2-3 hours of leveling.

I played since vanilla, but quit in May-ish '11 and no expac will get me back into it. I don't have a problem with WoW, it was a helluva fun ride for 5 years. I'm just completely burnt out and bored of it.

That too.

I've also heard quite a few stories of some people simply selling their account multiple times.

- Sell account.
- Send Blizzard a copy of your ID, proving the account is yours.
- Get account back.
- Sell again, etc.

No clue how/if it works with this new battle.net stuff though.

Warcraft 3 came out before Kung Fu Panda (and I bet someone else can mention a earlier example of Pandaren, I just know they were in Warcraft 3).

It's funny how people make fun of something and they have no clue what they're talking about. Pandarans have been in Warcraft lore for a very long time, FYI.

Not really, with some careful planning and the right gear/buffs you can shoot to max level in a few (extremely boring) hours

As a joke in WC3, yes.

And they could've done it properly, if they didn't pull out every single cliché in the book and made them bloody disney characters.

Ah, gotcha. I was never a fan of Warcraft so I didn't know they were an actual race from before. My bad. When it said "New Race", I thought they meant one they just invented for their world/universe.

Oh, you're a dev? You were in on the inside joke at Blizzard HQ when they decided to put Pandaran monks in a game that came out years before the Panda Monk cliche started? Interesting.

But I will agree with you on one thing; they look downright stupid.
