I was right, I predicted it again. I love knowing who's gonna win based off of pure luck.

I'm just happy that we didn't have some horrid pass interference call on the last drive. It always annoys me when that happens. It was good to see the players decide the game.

I picked the Giants as well. The Patriots had plenty of opportunities to put the game out of reach but it just didn't happen. Ah well maybe next year.

Okay, so I know my football, and I just don't understand some of the [censored] I see going on at the end of games.

Let's talk numbers here:

First off, Brady gets sacked, and you're telling my that something like 6 seconds runs off the clock before they get a timeout? It is the refs job to immediately look to the sidelines so they can call the timeout. That's 6 complete seconds that ran off.

Then, Brady spikes the ball. Now the play ends immediately when the ball hits the ground, but the clock runs an extra 2 seconds. Why? That brings our total to 8 seconds, tell me that isn't enough for a play or two.

Now to the final problem I have. The Giants have 12 men on the field, and the [censored] clock runs on that? Are you [censored] serious? They counted a completely illegal play, I just don't understand that. The clock ran from 17 seconds down to 9 seconds. That's another 8 seconds that the Patriots missed out on.

So all in all, we're looking at 16 seconds and a completely different game; not saying the outcome would have changed, but a completely different game.

It pisses me off that I have to watch crap like this in every major football game. Basketball doesn't have this problem, they watch a replay and get the time right.

Love how they say "world champions."

Note to America. It's only played in one Country. America is not the world.

Sivartus, if the Patriot had chosen to immediently down the ball, they wouldn't have lost the 8 seconds on the 12-men play. They chose to take a shot. So that one doesn't count. You can't eat your cake and have it too.

Not sure about the other clock management things. Maybe the Patriots didn't signal it right away. I wondered about that too, but the fact remains that we're looking at maybe 8 seconds of time (oh, and probably 6 seconds ran off while the ball was in the air). You're looking at one play at the most. If you look at the entire game, I'm sure that you could find things that hurt the Giants as much.

As they are the best American Football team in the World, I think the term World Champions is apropriate.

I don't mind it. It always makes me chuckle a bit though. Gotta love the enthusiasm...

I just don't understand to rules that go along with the call. What if the Giants had 12 men actually playing defense, instead of 1 guy not making it off the field. Is it the same call, or is it a different ruling? 12 men on the field should be an illegal play, dead ball, just my opinion.

Like I said, I'm not saying it's a different outcome, I just don't understand how it's standard practice in the NFL to not care about the final seconds of the game. We know they want to shorten the games, that's why the clock still runs when guys get pushed out of bounds until the final 2 minutes of each half, but to not get it right at the end of the games, not acceptable to me.

As far as I know, yeah. Honestly, I've always thought the way Football does penalties is weird. I'd much rather see stuff like offsides be a dead ball and such. I do agree with you on that, but that isn't how the rules are set up.

Congrats, Giants.

Didn't get to watch any of the game (was on a 3 hour drive) but I got to listen to the second half. Thanks for making it entertaining.

What a freaking game. I know I'm not listed in the OP but I predicted a NY / NE Super Bowl with NY winning. Man it was close though. What a game.

As they are the best American Football team in the World

What can I say, it's funny. Why? Because no other country in the world has a say in the matter so what do they care!!! (That's not saying that there isn't any other countries that care, obviously)

Brady was outplayed by Eli in 2008. Not in this game. Tom was on the money most of the night, an underthrown ball deep to Gronk was the one major mistake. The receiving corps came up short, with Deion not much of a threat and Welker dropping that pass deep in Giant territory.

Defense played with a lot of heart but couldn't recover those fumbles... tough loss, and it svcks, but congratulations Giants. Played the best teams in the league and beat every one.

Stats say otherwise, but yeah the dropped passes screwed them up. That's what happens when you let your nerves get to you. In the last few minutes the Patriots were shellshocked and it showed. After a sack by Tuck Brady was obviously nervous and there's a chance his shoulder was affecting him (enough to make him nervous). That's the thing with Brady: pressure him and he will screw up. Pressure gets to him. Some of those dropped passes could have been thrown better. He didn't have his greatest game after that sack, and it's obvious his receivers were feeling pressured too, in a different way.

Eli played an excellent game, throwing the ball like he was threading a needle. 30-40 for 296 yards and a TD. Nothing record breaking but that's a great performance. There's nothing about his performance I can criticize. He even took sacks when he needed to which is something he didn't do in past seasons.

This Super Bowl may not be as fantastic as XLII, but wow it was a great game. Right down to the wire. But of course Eli executed yet another 4th quarter comeback and left the Patriots with little time remaining. And it would have been even less if Bradshaw managed to stay out of the end zone :) In an interview after the game he said he wanted to stay out but momentum carried him in. I'm happy he got the TD actually, because field goals are not guaranteed. If he purposely went down at the 1 yard line and they missed the field goal, omg.

I really didn't care who won so I rather enjoyed the Super Bowl. It was nice to not be stressed-out about the outcome.

Sheese, I have been looking for this thread

Anyway, I thought the SB was a bit boring IMO but the halftime show was better than last years, that's for sure!

One topic that can't be dropped soon enough is the foolish notion that Eli is somehow better than Peyton. Eli had a great year and but this was his first year were he played at an elite QB level. Sure I'll give him top 7 maybe ......maybe 5 if he can put up similar numbers next year.

Meh, I could care less for Eli and Peyton, all major players are overpayed. Only one I could care about is Sam Bradford. (I don't know if he's a elite QB for his first year? Not this year but 2010?)

That's what happens when everyone becomes detached from a player. (Peyton was obviously hurt all year.)

Sam Bradford hasn't had any great seasons. Of course, the Rams don't really have any weapons for him either.
