Bruins are tanking and the Devils didn't even make it in. I am not happy.

As a lifelong Blackhawks fan, this is my nightmare.

I hate Vancouver more than Detroit.

It would certainly raise the spirits of Canuck fans. ;)

Chicago though looks like a one-and-done team.. and if one paid attention to the last few seasons of how they handled their salary cap and contracts, they, of course, saw this coming. The team they had last playoffs worked well together and had an enormous amount of talent.. that talent is now dispersed throughout the league and I believe will be further so by the time the 2011-12 season begins. Bad signings for ludicrous amounts (Campbell anyone?) coming back to bite 'em in the ass.

There have been a few surprises so far. I would say Boston playing so poorly is a huge surprise to me, and Vancouver playing so well is also a surprise.

Agreed I thought Boston would be winning this series fairly easily.

I'm confused why people thought Vancouver would have much difficulty would Chicago.

The Hawks wouldn't even be in the playoffs at all if not for Dallas not being able to beat one of the worst teams in the NHL in a clutch game. Losing into the playoffs isn't a very good thing.

I think I was also the only one to predict in the last topic that the Habs would win, just because Boston looks like a typical good "regular season" team, while Montreal has for the last decade been a strong upset team come postseason time. I was hoping Boston would win but I just don't see it happening until people like Lucic and Recchi (two amongst some of my favourite NHL players) stop playing like they don't give a crap.

And note that while I was confident Vancouver would dispatch of Chicago, I'm not sure how well they will do in later rounds versus equally good teams. Like the Sharks of recent years, a good regular season does not denote a good playoff season, so they certainly have a lot of prove.

It isn't the skill, because Vancouver is by far the better, deeper team this year. I chose Chicago based on two things:

Luongo choking again and Chicago winning the first game and destroying Vancouver psychologically. I think if the Hawks had won that first game and Luongo played poorly, this would be a completly different series. But when I saw Luongo up to the task (for once) in game 1, I knew my prediction was going to be wrong.

I still think all the Vancouver band-wagon jumpers can go eat large piles of their own fecal matter though :)

Fans like that annoy me to great lengths.

I'm glad Boston finally won a game. Now let's hope they can make a series of it. Also, I'm still amazed the Penguins can win against the Lightning. After watching three games, Tampa Bay really is more talented the Pittsburgh, but somehow the Penguins find a way to win despite their god-awful power play.

I don't know what to think about the Red Wings at the moment. Are the Cyotes that bad or are the Red Wings that good? I would like to think the latter only because they are playing without Zetterberg and still winning without too much trouble (game 2 was a bit scary). Plus, Howard is looking decent enough for the playoffs, which I was worried about because it is only his second year in the NHL and he seems a bit unpredictable. I think a Vancouver vs Detroit conference final would be good for the NHL.

Good to see Boston get things back on track. If you can win in Montreal, you can win anywhere. I didn't see much different between game 3 and the 2nd period of game 1, except that in game 3 Boston got some lucky bounces. We always knew they were the better team, they just decided to play like it last night. That being said, I'm not too confident. Montreal just seems more excited to be in the playoffs, and they're so fast- something that I had undervalued coming into the series.

I wish Boston didn't drop 2 on it's own home floor though...that win in Montreal was really quite amazing tho. We'll see how the rest of the series evens out considering Boston's going to have to win again in Montreal and sweep the home games to win it.

I would definitely like to see that. The Red Wing slump at the end of the regular season had me a little worried.

As an aside, a good friend of mine is a audio/video tech at the Joe Louis Arena and has to be at all the Red Wings home games.
He's not able to always watch the games intently, but lucky bastard nonetheless.

Are the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Play-offs? A 4-0 lead and it is blown and the game lost?

Isn't it usually who ever sweeps one seires either looses the next series or worse gets swept themsleves. Not good when a team sweeps a series.
