NHL Thread II

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:15 pm

I don't feel so bad being a Leaf fan. Being number 1 and being out of the play offs in the first round doesn't make a difference now does it? You are still out of round 2.

Still being up 3 games to none, and loosing? Shamefull. Espically when you were the President Cup winner.

They way I look at it, and this is with all sports, its always best to make the playoffs, the #1 pick is never guaranteed to work out but by getting to the playoffs you make money and it shows there is some promise with your team.

It's the NHL. Do you really think they would do anything about it?

Richards shouldn't be suspended, but the league normally would have during the regular season. The message is unclear indeed and who knows what the NHL is trying to accomplish with these stupid head shot or blindside rules, especially since they lack consistency on it like any other rule. It's one of the most [censored] set of rules I've ever seen that make it look like it's trying to follow in the NFL's step to try and make a violent sport pacified and excessively "safe" but won't succeed.

That being said, the soonest I see the Conference Semifinals round beginning is Thursday, possibly Friday or Saturday if the Kings take their series to a game 7. That means the Wings will have had a week and two or three days of rest.. which is like holy [censored].

Vancouver had better win tomorrow night.

Tampa Bay may just be too much for the Penguins. There's so much pressure on Pittsburgh to play a near-perfect defensive game so they can score enough goals to beat the Lightning that I'm not sure they can succeed. If it goes to a Game 7 back in Pittsburgh, that might be too much pressure for them to endure. I hope I'm wrong.

As far as tonight's game has gone, Pittsburgh has gotten a penalty shot and power play after power play. They just don't seem to have enough firepower to win.

So Richards should be suspended for taking someone it not the boards. Its Connely's fault he put his head down and didn't brace for the hit properly.

I will fully enjoy seeing Richards splattered against the boards again and again on tuesday.

If Buffalo wants to waste their time getting revenge for a dumb reason like this then all the better for the Flyers.

The Habs seem so much more skilled than the Bruins with the puck but somehow the B's have strung together three wins. Hopefully Timmy T can take us to the finals!

My Kings deserved to lose that one. If you can't convert on a 5 minute powerplay when staring at elimination then you don't have any business in the playoffs.

ON the bright side, Vancouver looks like their ready to choke :)

Awww, somebody call the waaah-mbulence for GM Mike Gillis of Vancouver. Poor muffin is coming up with excuses now like the power play opportunity disparity. Little sniveling rat. His team takes the Presidents by a mile and of course he starts whining about penalties of all things. Could have chosen something more original at least.

He could have at least said "I have injured goalies." It's not like the Hawks don't know this, how else did they give them the 7-2 and 5-0 games, with the latest one having the second goalie nearly ripping his balls in half with the splits he did during the penalty shot.

Snip.

Should that first "goal" have counted against the Bruins? Yes.

Should Carey Price's obvious dive at the end of the period been called interference? Hell no.

Continue to play like that and the Sabers won't have a chance.

Refs in the Bs/Habs game have been pretty bad.

1) Missed the first Habs goal.
2) Bought blatant Price dive
3) Horton slashing what?

That being said, Bs are useless on the powerplay, so they're better off without it. On the other hand, without two 5 on 3 goals for the Habs, where would this game be? Two 5 on 3s? Come on...

Habs game is great. Some missed opportunities on both sides. Hoping this goes to a game 7.

I'm hoping it doesn't. And as for Lucic's ejection, I guess it's fair he railed the guy from behind. BUT, he shouldn't get a suspension because the guy turned his back AT THE LAST SECOND. It would have been Lucic's chest to the guys shoulder, but the guy turned to his back at the last second. Is that Lucic's fault? Maybe.

Not looking good for the Bs. They didn't deserve the win today though. That said, neither did the Habs, who scored twice on 5 on 3s.
