Well my thief/assassin is a Khajiit but I fell silly to be dragonborn-cat so I wont play it.
Does anyone else feel like playing NonNord character doesnt give you the importance of Beeing dragonborn?

The Dragonborn is important? Someone should let the inhabitants of Skyrim know this valuable news!

No, it's not a lot weirder than a human having the soul of a dragon.

I decided to break away from my normal Nord character and try a Wood Elf. Um, I feel silly hearing I am a Dragonborn but its an ancient Nord thing.

IMO, Beth should have thought the MQ out a bit more were all races can join in without feeling, detached.

I believe Nords and Imperials would be the expected Dovahkiin races, but I don't feel there is anythign wrong with a Dovahkiin of other races.

It seems that the (pure) human races fit the roll of Dragonborn (sorry manmer fans)

It's like having a non-dunmer Nerevarine. Some people might be hesitant to accept it, but it doesn't mean it's impossible.

Without spoiler-ing, I think any race fits once you progress the story and see that there are ways to branch from Nord centrisim. For example, the Greybeards aren't the only one seeking a Dovahkiin. The Blades are as well. And the Blades are neutral, racial wise (I mean, Esbern and Delphine are Nord and Breton... and in past games, there have also been Imperial and Redguard Blades members, etc..). Strictly following a Greybeard/Stormcloak path is pretty Nord-centric though, without some clever RP backstory on your part.

I always felt a bit more bad ass being an Argonian Dragonborn, because instead of all the [censored] bag nords being all, "YA WE HAWVE DRWAGAN BAWRN LOL :D" I walk in and I have this sense of them being more like, "He's the dragonborn wut?"

The Nerevarine wasn't different at all, and I played a Nord anyways.

The Dovakiin and the Thu'um may be important to Nord culture but they do not "belong" to the Nords, they "belong" to the Gods who created all of the beings that inhabit Nirn. This should be obvious by the fact that any race can be Dovakiin, seemingly chosen by the Gods themselves, and that anyone, with intense training can learn the ways of the Voice. It may be weird to you that an Argonian or Khajiit can be Dragon born, which is looked on upon as a human concept but you must look at it from the perspective of the world in which they exist.

its a nord thing because dragons involve skyrim. if the bosmer lived in skyrim instead of nords itd be a bosmer thing.

The only sentient creature on all of Nirn to become a dragon is Tosh Raka of the Ka Po' Tun, a feline race on Akavir. That puts your Khajiit closer to being a true dragonborn than any silly Nord.

And yes, Nords ARE silly. Bare arms and agrarian civilizations do not belong in snowy regions.

I've yet to play a nord character in any TES game. Since being dragonborn is a 'gift' from the gods, maybe the gods are trying to tell the nords something by bestowing it upon a non-nord.

I agree with you for the most part but you forgot to mention that all the ancient lore behind the Dragon borns in TES, including the first to light the dragon fires, have been men. Even from the in game world perspective any non man dragon born would still be unusual.

Hahaha THANK YOU! I was talking to a friend about that on Xboxlive the other day. It's the most frigid part of Tamriel, yet everyone and their mothers (literally) walk around in kilts, shirtless, scantily clad, or sleeveless stuff.

It's silly if other races are scantily clad. Nords have Frost Resistance. Stop underestimating it, people. ;)

My 'canon' Nerevarine is an altmer. Given Nerevar was a Chimer and didn't live to be affected by the curse I always liked the idea of him returning as such.

Hey some folks in Eastern Europe go swimming in freezing water, but I don't see them walking around their respective countries half naked. At least not often..

You are right about the Dragon Fires but who says that all of the Dragon born in the past have been from the man races or that they were restricted to Skyrim? I have no doubt that in truth there have been Dovakiin of various races all around the world to do whatever the Gods called them for.
