Not enough racism?

Pandas dont have opposable thumbs I doubt they have the poop throwing prowess needed for my story

It's still a stereotype.

You link race to a certain action because that race has become known for that action.

Yes, because the Nords and Dunmer have a long-standing "you go your way, we go ours" agreement. The Dunmer owe no fealty or taxes (though apparently some merchants do pay them)
You have no basis for that statement. There is no reason to believe the Dunmer don't pay the same taxes as the Nords. And why would they fight for the stormcloaks or the guards when they don't get regular partrols and the stormcloak use "Skyrim is for nords only" alost like a motto.
A leader is supposed to lead Ulfric doesn't do much of that for non-nords.

And can you think of no reason why a city that already has a large, restless Dunmer population wouldn't want to add Argonians to that mix? Like, maybe, the fact that the Dunmer enslaved Argonians for centuries and Black Marsh invaded Morrowind after the ancestors of these same Dunmer were fleeing the Vvardenfell disaster.
But the many of the Argonians in Skyrim were born there they don't appear to carry any hard feelings for the Dunmer whose ancestors enslaved their cousins up until around the time of the Oblivion Crisis. (Slavery was ended in Morrowind not long before the start of the 4th Era). The Argonians are forced to live outside Windhelm because they are Argonian.

Theres argonians in riften city
Riften is controlled by the Empire so naturally it have less issues then a stormcloak city.

I believe when Solstheim was gifted to the Dumner they were exempted from paying taxes I am not sure if it applies to the Windhelm Dumner tho.

I believe it would be the Dumner more likely to start trouble in Windhelm

And to start Riften is Stormcloak territory

I was at the docks in winterhold talking to some fellow argonians when one of them told me about how they were paid verry little only because of their race. I naturaly wanted to help them so I started the quest. I talked to the guy responsible for the poor wages and he seemed to be strangely un-racist to me. He just said, "Sorry, I'm not hireing any more crew members." when I talked to him, and when I talked to him about the argonians he took it just fine despite my being one my self. It just seems like it would increase the games immersion if the dialouge was a bit more varried.

Totally agree that Bethesda ran away from the racist aspect of the game. It appears ok when playing as a Human, but if you play Khajitt or Argonian it`s very strange indeed as nobody appears to notice that you are one of those races they`re supposed to be racist against.

Would`ve made for a real interesting game too to experience. A missed opportunity.

I'm extrapolating both from what you see in Windhelm and the Decree of Monument. While that specifically names Solstheim, it's set up as a plaque at the Refugee Rest just outside Windhelm. Not a stretch to see that it was the same principle in that city. The Dunmer themselves are xenophobic, as their dialogue in Skyrim indicates, so it's also not a stretch to believe they'd want their own district and to be independent from any fealty to Nord rulers. This is at least as reasonable a way to interpret the situation as the "Nords are horribly racist" view. Again, if they were that racist, why would they let the Dunmer take up residence at all? Why not deny them entry into Skyrim or force them to go to Cyrodiil?

But the many of the Argonians in Skyrim were born there they don't appear to carry any hard feelings for the Dunmer whose ancestors enslaved their cousins up until around the time of the Oblivion Crisis. Riften is a Stormcloak hold. And in-game books indicate that they had a very hard time absorbing the refugee population, too. As for slavery in Morrowind, the Argonians invaded and laid waste as revenge for that history, so obviously the hatchet is not buried.

And in Skyrim even an Altmer can overcome the Nord prejudice by their actions. If there was the level of racism you wrongly believe there is by the Nords,Stormcloak in particular, that would be impossible

A very reasonable conclusion would be the Stormcloaks as group are not racist.Somehow I believe you will not come to that conclusion.

I believe you're now substituting "there's no racism" in place of the game mechanic of "letting the player do anything."

Of course a High Elf can become a member of the Stormcloaks, but that's because Bethesda designed the game so that "anybody can do anything."

That's the issue at hand. It's not that the Nords don't dislike High Elves or aren't racist, it's gameplay working over lore, rather than hand in hand with lore.

No I am pointing out that Nord racism is overstated. If the level of racism existed that you believe is or should be in the game actualy existed then your arguement would be correct. My point is that level of racism is simply not there.

+1

And that`s why we see the illogic of this.

I suppose though that if the High Elf did a major job then he would be given an honorary post which would not normally be given to an `outsider`, in that case it would make sense and need to be specified as well at the time. For instance, becoming a Thane would only happen if the people actually changed their view and loved the Khajitt, Argonian so much for his acts that the Jarl was forced to make him or her an Honorary Thane.

But bethesda were lazy with this idea. would`ve worked.

Sorry spelling errors.

Altmer are living in Windhelm and own businesses, so why is it hard to believe that if you prove yourself to Galmar, you'd be accepted as a Stormcloak?

And yet nearly every Stormcloak I have encountered has bad mouthed Elves, even when I'm not an Elf.

This is a case of gameplay replacing lore.

The Thalmor. You know, the ones dragging Talos worshippers out of their homes and torturing people?

I entered a Stormcloak Camp in the wild as a Dark Elf, some of the dialogue was directed at Elves in general and Dark Elves, including things along the lines of "I don't see why we just don't run out those filthy Grey Skins," etc.

There is a difference between admitting that the Grey Quarter is a burden and putting venom into your statements.

So when you hear Stormcloak soldiers saying "I'm not going to let any elf tell me who to worship," you're just assuming they mean dark elves?

Hm, well I didn't hear such things on an Altmer character. There were a few comments about chasing the elves out of Skyrim- which I interpreted to be Thalmor- and in towns she heard "we don't need any more of your kind," but really pretty benign things and no worse in Stormcloak areas than imperial Nord areas.

My character has been called Grey Skin a lot.

It would be more immersive if I could reply back to them.

Don't bring up a solid point, why?

its not solid thats why. most people tend to bring it up to just bash on nords, when not even the imperial run citys Ie. Solitude, allow khajiits in the their city.

nords and elf's have never got along, no matter which type.

allow khajiits in the their city.

This shouldn't be happening based on lore unless the Khajiit earns their way into the city... or sneaks in.

Keep in mind, most of it is not so much "Racism" as "Speciesism" - Elves, Aragonians, and Khajiit are not subraces of humanity, but are entirely different species'

For ease of terminology, "racism" can suffice.
