Oghma Infinium Exploit Should Not be Patched

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:36 am

Then don't do it, why do you even care? Its not like you are playing against someone who used it to beat you. They are not affecting anyone's game other then their own.
It defeats the whole purpose of playing a game like this to begin with. Your right it doesn't affect me. I think the morons at work just make me bitter about this subject. They make character after character and use the glitch for every single one, even their first. Yet brag about their characters power and wonder why I'm not capped yet. Because I earned every single skill point I have that's why. I don't think anyone should use it on their first character mostly.

No it wasn't and I don't care if it is or it isn't. People who do it, are not affecting my game, so why should I care?
I don't really care about what you care about or not i was just saying. Why are you so mad about? Calm down man seriously.
On a different note i tried this exploit with one of my characters and it didn't work so i think it was patched. i may be wrong tho

Yeah, it doesn't make sense when developers patch hidden eggs like this. It's a single player experience. It's not like it's grieving against anyone. What people want to do with their characters is their own choice. If you find it fun, go for it. If not, then don't. I don't understand why people complain because someone else's gameplay choices are different from their own.

That's like complaining that someone uses a mod that let's them fly. Let people have their fun.

Why would they?
Don't you have to intentionally go out of the way of normal gameplay to do it?
That alone makes it player choice. Which, by the way, does not affect my game at all.

I don't care if other people use it, but it is a bug, and thus should be fixed just like all other bugs.

bethesda stated that bugs considered fun would not be patched. This bug can be considered fun by people. The giants launching people into orbit was also a bug and they did not patch it.

Nah. Doesn't reveal anything about the story. I just wanted a general idea of how much effort went into it.
It's a hint though isn't it?

I wouldn't advise anyone to use the glitch on their first character but in the end it is their game and they can play it however they want.

Excellent. Wait, what? Into orbit? That's never happened to me... When does that happen?

Was it patched in 1.6? I know it worked last week, I only used it once though.

I personally wouldn't use it. But if you want to, I don't really care, it's not my game.

Also, you can always clear all patches, do it, then restore them.

That is just ridiculous. I think you are missing what a "bug" is that needs to be fixed. This does not crash the game or keep you from completing a quest. Those are the bugs that get fixed. Not exploits that one must purposely execute.

Your bothered by peen-measuring contests over videogame characters?

Gah, so what. Bet they cant squeeze the same profit from a dungeon that experienced dungeon divers like you or me can. Begone weighty weapons! Thy weight to value ratio pales in comparison to light armours, daggers and enchanted robes! ;)

How do you do it anyway ?
1. Get the book.
2. Open a bookshelf.
3. Read it. Select whatever path you want.
4. Put it onto bookshelf. (you have to do all this without leaving the bookshelf screen)
5. Grab book. Select "Do not read". Take book.
6. Repeat 2-5 over and over to desired skill.

But does it have any adverse affects anywhere on the game?

No I'm saying it is on an exploit. This is not the same. An exploit definitely belongs in the cheats and hints section.

What? When did I ever sound mad in my comment? Plus you read my comment wrong by my bad use of grammar...I only told you that it wasn't patched, the other stuff was my view on this.

They stated that? My fault then.

That makes this thread rather redundant doesn't it?

Cheers. Think I'll not bother anyway, I like earning my levels honestly. However if my new game becomes unplayable again I may well use it.

I still defend everyone elses right to use it, it really isn't harming anyone.

All forced exploits have a chance of doing that. They are a "use at your own risk" type of thing. That does not warrant a FIX for it.

Personally love the exploit. Capped my first character through really hard work, then wanted to just play around with different character types. I am terrible with a mage, so I used the infinium to build a pure mage. I had a lot of fun with it, but I didn't brag about it. It's just a useful tool for making Roleplay characters imo. It's nothing to get frustrated over, if it upsets someone then don't use it, simple as that, and if people annoy you, don't blame the game. That's just my thoughts.

Funny you put it like that cause they know little to nothing about the intricacies of the game or the lore of the series. They will brag about having multiple level 81's one minute and then ask me for advice on something the next. I just wish people would learn the game and roll at least one honest character before they use the glitch. I think they are robbing themselves of the full experience of the game.

They said it before release. Todd Howard himself said it if I recall correctly.
