Oghma Infinium Exploit Should Not be Patched

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 1:01 am

That is just ridiculous. I think you are missing what a "bug" is that needs to be fixed. This does not crash the game or keep you from completing a quest. Those are the bugs that get fixed. Not exploits that one must purposely execute.
You are right. Bethesda is having a hard enough time fixing those bugs. They should not focus on ones like this.

It was not supposed to be there in the first place, so yeah, it should have been patched.
and if the company deems that it should be there then it is suppose to be there. It depends on how bethesda feels on it and from what they said previously if it does not ruin the game they won't patch it. The exploit does not ruin the game, only effects those who choose to use it.

Funny you put it like that cause they know little to nothing about the intricacies of the game or the lore of the series. They will brag about having multiple level 81's one minute and then ask me for advice on something the next. I just wish people would learn the game and roll at least one honest character because they use the glitch. I think they are robbing themselves of the full experience of the game.

If people want to play the game that way then let them. Don't know why you'd get annoyed over it. I don't use the exploit but I don't think it should be patched as I might want to use it if I lose another several hundered hour save down to BSF..

So you can't have fun? Some of these things that aren't suppose to be in the game, make it much more enjoyable. I personally loved what I called the "Trolling Arrow" which my arrow went into the following kill cam just to completely miss my target...I never enjoyed mess up as much as I did then...but know they patched that I think...

You know...reading that quote, it may have come across a little too...sharp. I apologize if it sounded that way.

As long as they are enjoying themselves, whatever! I know what you mean though. It's like the old MW2 thang.

"I rule at MW2!"

"cool, what setup do you use?"

"marathon, lightweight, commando with a silenced Tar/silenced UMP, AA-12 secondary"

*facepalm*

do you need to go through the leveling to understand lore and the intricacies of the game. They are still forced into a certain build and they can still learn lore and play though the storyline. The game is alot more than just leveling. I do agree that playing honest at least once should be done but not forced.

No I'm saying it is on an exploit. This is not the same. An exploit definitely belongs in the cheats and hints section.
Im talking about removing or not removing a feature of the game not the exploit itself.

You don't need to at all but there has to be some effort towards it. I work with one guy in particular who bragged about having 3 level 81 characters. Later asked me what kind of armor I used. So I told him what I was running with the enchantments. He wanted to know how I got enchantments so strong and I told him I enchanted them myself. His reply was "You can enchant your own gear?". Epic fail.

Honestly, in light of that, how can you be bothered about level based bragging? :D

don't think leveling can help someone who can't bother to pay attention. It has to be one of the first things they tell you.

You do have to ask yourself why they do it, don't ya? I mean, it would be one thing if it was a glitch you could accidentally stumble upon and you didn't want to do it. It's not like they're going to patch how high you can boost your smithing or enchanting abilities, so why this?

I have a question. Did any of you use the unlimited XP glitch in operation anchorage in Fallout 3? I was the one that found that glitch and posted it all over the wikia. (I know I am just bragging) I think exploits in games are awesome. It does not affect anyone but ME...therefore if I chose to do it, I live with the consequences or benefits. I have used the OI glitch once but to me its not worth it takes a lot of effort just to power level. Anyways to get to my point. Who CARES either you do it or you don't. If they fix it so be it. If they don't so be it. There really is no point in arguing about it.

Honestly, I believe all bugs should be patched, but I know that will never happen. So, as long as this doesn't cause any problems, and it's only effect is leveling the player's skills, it should not be focused on.

Beth has said that they are not going to be patching bugs like this(bugs that cause no harm to your game and are just for fun or exploiting to help you along. Things like being able to get to merchant chests, putting buckets on people's heads, and this, won't be getting patched)

If you have to go out of your way to do it that's fine, leave it. As someone else has said it does start to agitating when people start to brag about high level things. I like the experience of earing my skill levels, so I don't do anything like that.

Ihave one friend who does stuff like that all the time. He once started to brag that he had 100 in conjuration and when I asked him how he got it he said, "I stood in front of a Mudcrab and soultrapped it a bunch of times.

He once randomly asked what my armor rating was and I told him 819, he started laughing and said, "Really, mine's over 1000! You must die a lot." I looked at him, facepalmed and walked away.

I think it it should be patched because I am sick of hearing people brag about how they are level 81 even though I know they used this glitch.

so what?! i don't know why you care at all. It is their game and they can do what they want with it. It has nothing to do with you and its a silly thing to get upset over. there will always be noobs that think they are hot sheet

It's a bug. In an ideal world, all bugs should be fixed. But prioritization matters, and I don't think they need to prioritize this bug.

Technically, it should be fixed, and the reason is kind of stupid. Because there's an achievement for getting level 50, using Oghma Infinium to reach level 50 and unlock that achievement violates the Xboxlive TOS, and can actually result in an account and console banned from online functionality. Not that I think it'd happen, but the rules state it should.
