OWB....Cheesy?

I don't see anything wrong with the Neon Lights myself.

Its a common Scifi staple to have neon lights everywhere becuase neon = the future

The lights aren't bright nor do they appear obnoxious.

The environment is fitting becuase as far as we know it isn't a Enclave base and i cant think of a diffrent setting to put it in.

I agree, neon is representative of the future. My point is, the neon looks out of place. The bunker or what ever it is looks thrown together. It's just a glow in the dark sewer tunnel.

Well the concept Art shows a very LARGE portion of the Big empty being underground. In a high tech facility it would make sense that they build their facility to handle water considering they probably either hit some or built over some on purpose.

Also Helios one used the same texture for its maps and it didn't look like a sewer.

The Brotherhood/Enclave interiors aren't what Enclave bases look like, though; they're what advanced pre-War US government installations (which the Big Empty certainly is) look like. The Enclave bases all just look that way because all of their facilities are old US ones.

As such, you'd expect the Big Empty to share the same standard "high-tech" interior of Raven Rock, the Mobile Base Crawler and Hidden Valley instead of sewer tunnel walls.

Actually Enclave bases look the way they do becuase they were built SPECIFICALLY for the Enclave. Raven Rock and Hidden Valley were both BUNKERS for the government elite and their stuff, not becuase they were pre war science labs. We have no evidence that shows The big empty was supposed to be a bunker for the government elite and thus no reason as to why it should look that way, and frankly I would be rather disappointing if they made it look like that becuase it looks terrible.

No Enclave facilities were built specifically for them besides the Oil Rig, they were just VIP shelters/bases that the Enclave knew of and took over.

Equally, while the Big Empty isn't a government bunker, it is an advanced government facility and as such one would expect it to share the same interior layout and aesthetics of other advanced government facilities. These are military installations, I don't expect that there would be a lot of variance in the way they're built.

Actually Raven Rock and Hidden Valley were built by the government for the government. The enclave eixsted before the great war and built these places to hide government officials they deemed worthy.

Also just becuase the Big Empty did work for the government doesn't mean they were owned by the government. Aperture Science of Portal fame, and Black Mesa of Half Life fame were both massive research facility whose size could classify them as a city and they were privately owned corporations. The presence of Repconn, RobCo, and H&H Tool company, among possible others, I wouldn't be surprised if we found General Atomic and Poseidon energy stuff there also, show that Big empty was probably like Black Mesa or Aperture. It was a privately owned research facility that did work for the government, and since it wasn't owned by the government it doesn't need to look like pre-war government instillation.

I agree. The Big Empty should have looked similar to Raven Rock and Hidden Valley.

As it stands, it looks rather ridiculous.

I agree. Some users may post "Well it would defeat the purpose of a new location DLC if it looked the same as Hidden Valley." If they were able to pimp out a sewer interior, I think they could make a readily made Enclave template look flashy as well.

Not only this, but the sewer interior has been used and seen much more than the "Enclave interior" has.

Theres another screenshot that show perfectly normal offices with no neon, but i guess everyone just "forgets" about those so they can complain.

If you notice, the wall says "REPCONN" while the other says "Lab". They're obviously different areas around the Big Empty.

so? How do you know those doors don't lead to some Repcon Lab?. Also the point was to show that the big empty isn't the neon light everywhere thing SOME people on this thread seem to think it is.

I hope it doesn't. But I hardly think that screenshot was of one small section of the facility (or hallways) that is designed differently than the rest.

I do hope I'm wrong though.

I love how people keep saying it looks like the tron suit when it really doesn't.

Are you guys seriously [censored]ing about the neon blue lights and that the Big Empty looks "stupid"? I, for one, am glad they are changing up the environment once again and frankly I am happy by the way the Big MT is looking so far. I guess the late release date does make people rage...

Not all advanced pre-war US government installations looked the same. Mariposa and Sierra Army Depot looked nothing like Raven Rock or Hidden Valley. Heck the numerous other military installations in Fallout 3 looked nothing like either of those places.

I don't neccesarily care about whether they change the decor or not. All I care about is if I enjoy playing it. It's a game, and I'm not The Keeper of the Lore. If the people responsible for the game say that the next dlc is gonna have us playing in pink bunny suits jumping off of man sized mushrooms, I could care less, as long as I get to kill something, do some roleplay and enjoy it while I do it. There's just way too much more in my life to worry about than to get my panties in a bunch about a game's interior decor choices. It just seems trivial.

-gunny out.
