In Van Buren there was going to be a splinter group of the BoS that used stealthboys so much that they went schizophrenic

Seems like they mashed that idea together with the already existing Nightkin

Dont know if this was brought up or not but I am reading a scanned copy of the PSM magazine article and it appears that we can now select more parts to target. They talked about using the 9 iron golf club hit to the groin. Thats one thing I wished they would have had implimented in FO3.

I didnt mean 9 different hits, I know their refering to the 9 iron, but they said that they went with a groin shot with the 9 iron. In FO3 they didnt have the groin as a target, just the body, limbs, or head.

I hope the add more parts to target like the groin, the rear end and the eyes. the eye shot would be cool just imagine it in vats it cuts to a shot of the the bullet moving in slow motion towards the guys eye then cuts to you facing him and the back of his head exploding like this go to 3:55-3:59

from shaun of the dead warning a little bit graphic but imagin it in vats

So you we're referring to groinshots in genera? In that case, sorry for the inconvenience.

Definitely agree. In addition, we should able to target every 'major' part of the body. Groin, rear, knees, legs, arms, neck, eyes, ears, nose and eyes as well as the whole head. If you are unarmed and select anything below the torso, you should kick them instead of punching, as well as being allowed to target specific body parts while unarmed.

From what I am reading from the magazines it sounds like SPECIAL is pretty much the same as in FO3. Instead of the "SPECIAL" book you set it up on one of those old carnival strength meters.

I've read the same, but I'm raising hopes that they referring to SPECIAL as a system in itself, but not as how it works. And That is what I still hope.

Question: I've seen people wanting SPECIAL to be 'like it was' mind you I haven't played the first two Fallouts, but how exactly did SPECIAL work before? I can't imagine it having that much of an effect on gameplay (or at least Fallout 3's system)

Play the earlier games for a couple of times with a different builds and you'll see, if you don't, there's nothing I can do for you. Explore and see. Start with low Int character.

Game scans, PS3 magazines, etc. have specifics about the game. I can't link to them though.

First off, your weapon skills effected accuracy, not damage. Stats had larger impact on gameplay, as strenght 2 character couldnt use certain weapons, as they had minimum requirement, charisma was amazingly vital in conversations, and every stat was usefull. Generally the stats you chose in character creation were going to stay the same, unless you had access to a truck load of money in the game, or certain difficult to find items. Perks were gained every 3 levels.
There were skills and stat checks a lot more often, even though you didnt really know which skills were tested, or atleast the game didnt outright tell you which ones were used. You could even convince the master (end boss of sorts) to kill himself, if you were intelligent and charismatic enough and had found enough information during your playthrough. You could also sneak past and activate the nuke in the base.

Indeed, and that's just part of it. Everything changes due to your stats/skills.

Basically, it just had much more impact on the game than it does in Fallout 3. In many ways, the character creation defined a lot of your playthrough and your character. In Fallout 3, I can win almost all fights on my own using weapons that I have put no skill in. This is not the case in the older Fallouts. In Fallout 3, it's also possible to max out quite a lot of your skills over the 20 levels, and even moreso using the level 30 level cap. Again, this didn't happen in the older Fallouts. In Fallout 3, it's very easy to not only be a jack of all trades, you esentially become a master of them.
Another example is like UnDeCafIndeed says, if you have a low Intelligence, that will be reflected in your dialogue options and a lot of the game will be completely different.

I'm not saying that the older games were perfectly balanced, because they were not. But, given how important the character creation and SPECIAL system is, it was much more pleasurable and possible to create a unique character. If I never put points into Energy weapons, then I'd get slaughtered if I tried to use them. Whereas in Fallout 3, you can use most weapons effectively (or effectively enough to kill any foes).

Saying that reminds me every time I take the goat no matter how I answer the question 9 times out of 10 I end up a marriage counsler. Even if I am evil and say to "leave the ol coot" in his room when he locked himself in I still end up a marriage counsler. Only one play through I got something different and I cant remember what it was.
