Typically when that happens it has nothing to do with the parents themselves but how they treated the kids individually. I have some similar stories as well. Boyfriend's sister and he have differing issues. Raised by same parents, he turned out fine, but his sister is a wee bit insane. She got away with everything as she was the favorite, and still continues to get away with doing things now that I couldn't dream of when I was her age(she just turned 21, her parents are paying for her college and living expenses out of town out of pocket so she still has to abide by their rules unless she wants to pay for both herself.. which she doesn't).

My sister and I as well. My sister(mentioned above with said 7 year old child) and I were raised by the same parents. Divorced parents, Stepfather and Mom were the resident parental units. I turned out mostly fine(little eccentric.. people think I'm nuts) and my sister's been in trouble with the law quite a few times, busted for drugs. I had emotional issues growing up and required more attention from Mom in the form of counseling sessions, doctor appointments, and other various things, and it made my sister rebellious and jealous. She started doing stupid stuff for attention, and it worked. She continued doing stupid stuff as she got older.

I now get accolades from my mother since I'm 31 years old and not constantly asking her for money or to babysit or whining about everything like my 30 year old sister does. ><

My teacher said he tried to treat them the same. I have to take his word for it,

I never take the parent's word for it when it comes to those things.

Even if the parents "treated them the same" it doesn't mean the children didn't perceive a favorite. As was the case with myself and my sister. She perceived favortism and started acting like a jerktard to get attention she felt she wasn't getting.

I started playing M rated games at 6 years old. I guess it's because a video-game was my first birthday present.
My parents knew I wouldn't stop playing games for nothing in this world, so, thankfully they didn't care. But I think you should find a good spot to bury your parents in. And..well, you know the rest.

In all seriousness, try approaching them with good arguments on how Skyrim won't make you go berserk and kill everyone, steal cars, [censored] chickens or anything of the sort. And don't forget to say that there's no nudity at all and spit in their face afterwards.

Meh, still though, the case I mentioned isn't your average sibling rivalry, it's completely opposite ends of the extreme

I also think there is some inherent shock value in seeing a little kid playing a game clearly not meant for them, even if they are mature enough to handle it

Best friend and her cousin raised by her grandmother.

Best friend's got a clean legal record, mother of 5.
Cousin's on the six offender registry with a felony drug record, pregnant for a second time, not the same father of her first kid. Fathers the ex husband of her cousin, my friend.

You want two opposite sides of the spectrum, there it is.

When I wasn't old enough to smoke cigarettes, my friends and I would hang out near the store until we saw a random kid in his 20s and we would ask him to buy them for us.

If your console is not in your room it would be tough to sneak in your play sessions though.

When I was a kid we could buy them ourselves. Still had places with cigarette vending machines.
