Your parents sound regressive and unreasonable. I mean not even listening to your reason? Who is really mature here?

When I was a kid we could buy them ourselves. Still had places with cigarette vending machines.

WTF is a cigarette vending machine? Never seen one in my life!

did they not have age restrictions 13 years ago? I thought that's been around since forever

1994 is when they started, not that long ago.

Parents don't know [censored], if I were still a kid I'd play any game I want anyway, there are lots of ways to bypass stupidity and decrepitude.

Agreed. Honestly, people that are overprotective (And protecting from what? Reality?) like this should not be parents.

To be fair in some country games have bad reputation of ruining children personality.

Lol. They looked like a vending machine but with ciggies in em. they stopped using them pretty much because kids like me and sakiri would use em.

Sure, but let's give the kid some props because he's a Morrowind fan. C'mon, have you ever seen that? An actual underage Morrowind fan.

And all that "reputation" is complete bull.
Even the crudest of games psychologically help children in some way.

Does it count if one played Morrowind... after its sequels?

Definitely. To me, gamers don't just see whatever conflicts are involved, but the purpose behind them. I think that's what media studies and overprotective parents often miss.

I think i first player Doom when i was 3,and Duke Nukem when i was 6,guess I'm lucky that my parents were and still are gamers.
Also they always let me make my own decision in everything,it made me think before doing stuff, because no one was holding my hand if something went wrong.

And today i don't go around swearing at everything and everyone, and killing people,in fact,I've always being very diplomatic,so i think the "ratings" of a game should depend on how mature the kid is,and not how old.

Yeah. But a rating depending on how mature the person is? Too good to be true.

Yes, I agree that that games help, I wrote a long essay about the benefits of games once.

But with all those reputation around it will be perfectly understandable to prohibit children from touching them.
