Patch 1.4 Unoffical Thread #3 With Changelog!

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 5:11 pm

Are redundant jounal entries being fixed too? It doesn't seem to be shown anywhere in this patch note.

In “Arniel’s Endeavor”, fixed issue where a quest journal would trigger multiple times

It is for this one!

I for one am really liking this patch. I have every single HD texture, lighting, post processing effects, graphics mod available on ultra with all the sliders maxxed. I used to get as low as 40 fps and stuttering in some parts, but now I never go below 60 fps with vsync on anywhere, the game is smooth as silk now! :bunny:

1.4 is not the last patch for this game, they are working on the next one while finalizing this one.

Do you know if they are working on a fix to 'fix' what got broke with the first patch; speaking of needing an Internet connection to play the game now where before that patch, all was fine.

I would like to get the patch updates to fix all the quest bugs that these patches have been fixing, but I can't have the patch where it takes away the ability to play without a live Internet connection.

Right now, I still have to play the version I have (1.1.21.0) that doesn't need an Internet connection to play, but I would like to patch at some point to fix quest issues.

they should put in the fix to make killable-npc, especially the normal citizen to run away from dragon, not fighitng the dragon with dagger and cloth.

That is an excellent idea! As I think more NPCs shouldn't be able to die in the first place. I hated reloading my save 4-5 times to keep Gerdur from dying. And then...... she lived! But then an hour later I ran into a quest breaking bug and my last save was before the dragon fight so it took another few times for her not to die! I think she should be essential at least for awhile as she lets you stay in her house and all... And when NPCs do die their bodies can lay there in the streets forever. Having weaker merchants and quest givers run from dragon attacks or even teleport/run inside houses like the church would be an awesome way to deal with this problem. While you would still have followers. guards, passer-bys, and basic nobodies that do fight the dragons would add more realism without killing so many NPCs you don't want to die without breaking the realism. In fact, it would be realistic if almost all NPCs in a town ran inside of the church or their homes when a dragon attacks, leaving the player and the guards to fight to protect the citizens. If only........ I mean if I knew how to script I would make a mod do this. But that would also require me getting a better PC, as this like so many other games aren't made for my powerful Mac.

This is an general AI weakness in all computer games, they attack anything hostile even if no chance of winning.
Should be an check here, I'm have no weapon, armor or fighting skill, that is an bloody dragon, the guards is already fighting it, perhaps I should stay away.
At least Oblivion had an bravery variable who determined if the npc would fight or run but it did not work well,

Improved since Morrowind, still remember the stupid runaway argonian slave who attacked an faraway orgrim who ignored us, he was unarmed and naked and managed to run in my line of fire all the way up so the orgrim killed him in one hit.

Most normal citizens are level 10 or below. Simply giving all dragons a fear aura that effects NPC's(except guards) up to level 10 would solve the problem nicely.

For all of those thinking the game is rock solid and not having CTD issues, I used to be just like you. I was really pleased at how stable the game was compared to Fallout 3.

So, I was in no hurry to finish the game, did lots of side quests and explored a lot. Now I've been playing for 476 hours and my save games are now 20mb each, and the game is unplayable. I can't go into most places without a CTD, and can't move more than a few feet outside without a CTD.

I didn't play Oblivion, so I wasn't expecting this. I guess I should have finished the main quest by now, but I didn't know I had a time or save game size limit. I'm very disappointed in this. And the fact that Bethesda doesn't acknowledge the problem is even more disturbing.

I'm not sure if it's more time spent playing the game, or save game size that triggers it. I just know that once it starts, you can't fix it, and you won't be able to finish the game. I put in so much time creating, customizing and equiping my character that I really don't want to create another character just to see how the main quest turns out. I haven't been able to play for about a week now, hoping that a fix would be found.

Has anyone else played over 400 hours and have save games over 20mb, without problems?

The 1.4 patch completely fixes this. I had the exact same problem - game was completely unplayable (20MB file, 395 hours) - until I opted into the 1.4 beta. After about 15 or so hours, I haven't seen a single CTD, and I've done my damnedest to recreate one. I recommend turning on the beta update just so you can continue to play the game.

You all disappoint me.

Does nobody give a gently caress about how broken the *GAME* is, with the removal of stats and skills, then taking a huge dump over said stats and skills?

All you seem to care about is if you can finish [insert generic quest here].

did the new patch release for console yet? I've noticed alot of lag with my bigger save files.I don't want to create a new character, I'm haven too much fun with my original 3 which in total add up to 510hr+ thats alot of work just to walk away from!!!!Also does anyone know if it will fix the issue of weapons levitating after you kill someone? As of late I just take the weapon and then put it back in their inventory, but if I don't it stays there in limbo for ever which pisses me off cause I know it's a glitch and once one starts it has a ripple effect and more start to pop up.

I don't see how the former is "broken."

The stats thing is a matter of opinion and has nothing to do with the patch. Fixing broken quests, which should never break in the first place, is very important. In fact, it's kind of shocking to have this sort of problem with a video game. The worst I had before this was Fallout New Vegas, but that was only game freezes. Nothing was wrong with the game itself. Skyrim has all kinds of problems that just shouldn't be.

No-one particularly cares what YOU think about the game, is that close enough? When I and so many other people are having quite a bit of fun with the game except for the the sort of bugs getting fixed in this patch, it's difficult to care about your personal opinion about the game.

I see they haven't fixed the sound volume issues on PC version. I guess they didn't bother testing different speaker configurations when they used the new audio engine.

I'm afraid you're right. It's too bad they put a new feature (Dead Thrall) into a game and then it doesn't work anywhere near how it's suppose to.

I for one am praying they've done something about the incessant, repetitive NPC pvssyr. They probably haven't, but I'm hoping against hope.
