No point to Dragon Armor

The daedric armor gives you 20 more points of armor then dragonplate small difference that is barely noticable in combat. If you throw which stone you chose into the mix you really alter how effective it is.

With the cap being 570, or whatever, there is really no point to armor as high as heavy dragon or daedric.

It was probably useful when I made my first daedric set, can't recall if I would have been at 570 in something else or not.

The real use of dragon is when you are low level, to not have to go and wait for daedric hearts to respawn or do money farming to be able to buy them. Heavy dragon is "cheap" when you can make it. I believe it really is easier than dragon scale in a way, since if I recall that one requires iron ingots too (while heavy dragon(dragonbone plate) only requires dragon stuff - which you end up with PLENTY OF.))

I made the possible mistake of investing points in heavy armor, I think I'm 4/5 now. At that point, I'm currently 957 in just regular old imperial plate, 900 in blades armor, once I smithed it up to legendary. I wore blades for some time, then got an imperial heavy set and now I run around in that. You do get different flavor text in the imperial occasionally, such as a guard saying "nice set of imperial armor."

Another use of dragonplate, in particular, would be making money. I think I currently have several hundred bones and scales in a chest. The
problem is that the NPCS never had enough money to buy much of the end product (while by the time I had the "500 gold investment" and
"1000 gold to all vendors" perks, I had run through the thieves guild quests so also was getting flawless gems by the bushel from every chest, urn,
whatever.)

I guess this is a good time to ask if Dragon armor can be found anywhere in game..?

I found dragon scale gauntlets about level 30 or so, so I've been curious.

I would assume you can. I did find dragon scale gauntlets as well so I just assume they have all the armor lootable at the certain levels.

Both reach the cap. Choose what looks good. Besides, dragonscale is the best light armour.
Max damage reduction is 80% = 537armor rating *or 567, i forgot* so whatever armor you upgrade to reach that amount = the best armor.

Armor in this game is basically about your tastes. Apart from that, choose ur perks wisely~ because you may find that getting 5/5 for your base armor perk may be a complete waste~

Dragonp armor is actually superior to Deadric. Obviously, you're using the Smithing skill (and not finding Dragon armor loot after level 40 or so), and I'd venture to guess you invested in the Heavy Armor skill, too.

Most heavy armors can reach the armor cap (576?) easily with just one point in the Juggernaut perk, Dragon and Deadric among them. The difference is that Dragon armor weighs less and is more readily available, which means you can carry more stuff (including different armor sets--usually difficult for Heavy Armor users, but useful if you have different enchanted armors for different scenarios) and sell it more reliably.

If two armors provide the same protection (and by the time you can make Dragon armor, it will provide the same protection and not single point less), then the armor that weighs less and is more readily available is obviously and inarguably superior.

Hooray for pressing the Enter button at random points. This isn't World of Warcraft, stop gawping at the stats and enjoy the game.

Also, this. Even if Dragon armor was incapable of reaching the cap, +500 armor rating is not too shabby, and certainly not bad enough to warrant all this whining people do all over the boards.
