How many DLC packs does Fallout:Vegas need to redeem itself?

5 DLCs, but I'd like to see e DLC based on special encounters.

Pick your poizen!

How many should be free?

How many should be dedicated to completing unfinished content like barely any weapon mods, and no craftable weapons?

Absolutly none. You got what you paid for. Period, end of story.

Now, how many DLCs should there be for extra content you might ask? 3 - 4 good ones of 5- 10 hours extra gameplay length.

Redeem itself? Has New Vegas done something wrong that it must atone for?

I'd like to see a Broken Steel style DLC, where the game continues after the main quest. It would be a nice touch if we could see the consequences of the main quest (I'm not even close to finishing it yet, so no spoilers pls) on the Wasteland, rather than everything carrying on as normal, like in F3.

Fallout New Vegas doesn't need any DLC to redeem it's self, it's a great game!

However, I do want a story continuation with an increased level cap and more content like weapons and various items.

I just want Area 51. Then this game will be acceptable.

This. You KNOW they need to have Area 51 in a fallout game, that's just too hard to resist. I'd also like to see what happened in Canada. Otherwise I can't think of much.

As a bonafied Fallout veteran, I feel this game needs no 'redeeming.' It's nowhere near as buggy as the original two Fallouts. DLC never mattered to me. They're certainly a welcome addition to the game, but never influenced my overall feelings about the game, unless the dlc fixes/adds a critical component to the game (IE game ending after the main quest). A massive expansion onto New Vegas (Like Shivering Isles for Oblivion) would be amazing, if it's well done. I'd like to visit some of the old towns/settlements from Fallout 2, like New Reno and the NCR's capitol, hell maybe even Vault 13, provided they construct it exactly like how it is in the first games, none of this new vault style nonsense.

One (that really expands the game, instead of prolonging one playthrough by 2 hours without leaving any desire to visit/use that particular stuff ever again) is good enough (and it needn't be free) - and there nothing really to redeem.

Exactly this. I've almost made it through my first playthrough, but the perfect DLC/Expansion material for me would:

  • expand on the Legion's Quest lines to make them a little more 'grey'. (Less one-dimensionally EVIL)
  • add more depth to the existing 'secondary' locations. Further flesh out the dialog, connection with the surrounding world and add a handful of sidequests that weaves into the current main quest politics & within the new DLC quests.
  • rebalance the XP awards to accommodate all of these additional quests/regions. Something like putting the level cap to 50, halving the amount of skill points awarded per level and increasing the amount of XP needed to reach the next level.

After a DLC/expansion like this, I would happily welcome BethSidian investing additional resources into 'Pitt/Point Lookout' style excursions out of the Mojave - but with better writing, consequences & tie-in to the main plot. It would also need to have multiple ways of completing it (requireing a large variety of character types to experience it all) and it would need to have a variety of 'ending sequences' to make replaying in these areas more than the aforementioned "one playthrough for 2 hours.

I don't think anyone ever has (released a bug free game).

I'm still trying to figure out why an awesome game needs to "redeem itself".

so you complain about a game's bugginess and your solution is to have them make DLCs for you instead of work on said bugs? Yeah thats nice logic there.

i said between 3-5 but i am happy if they only make 4. As long as the amount in the DLC and the quality of the content is much better then FO3 DLCs Broken steel and Point lookout were the best of the ones they made and still came up a slight bit short.

Haven't read the responses, but I don't think redemption is necessary through means of a DLC. Getting the game patched to a level that it should have been to on release is what the game needs most ... ideally, leaving out patches that break broken things even more along the way. Once FONV is finished, a DLC or two would be nice. I liked the story a lot and would like to see more.

Oh, are we back on the whole "Bugs are totally fine since all games have them" meme? Of course all games have bugs. Some games are worse than others, however, and drawing the line between an acceptable amount (and scale-i.e., game-breaking) and an unprofessional amount (and scale) can be useful in determining which companies may need to spend more time in the QC phase. Customer feedback is important to have good products.

. Maybe a nice little mini dlc or 2.. a weapons pack.. a songs that arnt that blasted johnny and his ninnie emo girl.... dlc would be nice and would cost em much to make..

This.

Saints Row had little packs that added new clothing options and hairstyles etc. This would be very welcome for console users who could use something like that to change it up. There are plenty of ideas out there thanks to the modding community.
