Calling someone elitist just because they like the older Fallouts and hate the new ones is just plain wrong you know.

"unless you are an egotistic, inconsiderate ass with a "holier than thou" attitude, YOU ARE NOT AN ELITIST AND I AM NOT REFERRING TO YOU!"

FO3 definitely had more random places and some of them were pretty cool...others were kind of a waste of time, IMO.

Some were a waste ofcourse, but I just feel almost all the places I find in NV seem to be a 2 minute look about and thats it =/

I don't think the Strip is the main area...maybe the Strip + all of the surrounding areas. Taken as a whole the Strip "area" has quite a lot going on.

Even so, its not all properly connected and the Northside has almost nothing in it too =/

I personally didn't really enjoy that building as much as some others apparently have. You're right, though, FO3 had more random places. I do feel like the "non-random" places in NV (which there are more of) have a lot more meat, back-story, and thought behind them, though.

No way really?? What places lol?

I think there's a glitch with the radio on the console versions. I'm on the PC version and there are a lot more than two songs. :P Hated Three Dog, by the way, I thought he was pretty irritating.

He was irritating but made for a great radio host!

To me I think the big Pros FO:NV has over FO3 to is the faction karma thing, the amount of ways you can do quests (options/paths/routes to take to complete it etc) the not so hardcoe hardcoe mode. Im sure theres a few other things too but they just havnt popped in to my head.

Think il need to get this game for my PC and put my Uni + College experience to some good use!

Wow that didnt qoute how id liked it too... but its late for me where I live so forgive me please :)

The game does svck. Lousy release, tons of bugs.

I do know why people insist on pledging their undieing love for the franchise of this game... Because it is a great concept.
From fallout 1 and 2.....

No other games have I come across or played have been so bug ridden than the ones from interplay and bethseada. I've been around putters my whole life almost 40 years.

To top it off they are releasing a non free dlc.... For an unfinished game...
Garbage company.... They just care about money.

GT 5 it's first dlc free
Assassin Creed dlc free

What kinda fools do they take us for...
Fan bois gonna cry me a river over fallout new Vegas... But it does svck

Oh Christ...

I haven't been arguing with you about anything.

Responding because I found your undeniably cute enthusiasm about this rather trite matter amusing - and yet a mystery in its reasons.

As for the rest of the questions.... I'll just skip them as "angertalk".

You don't need to argue with me. The arguments are typically all the same. I can have entire arguments with myself, covering all the major points such as "dumbed-down for console kiddies", "not a real RPG", "better writing, instead of for ADD action junkies", "Fallout 3 fans aren't Fallout fans", and "amateur modders can do what Bethesda did" all from memory.

It is true and no one can argue this... it is beyond a joke how bad it is to be honest lol but games still great fun.
I dont think it is the fact that they just care about the money though that is what a buisness is for, there is more to it then that (Such as the crap engine used and programmers :P)

1. Game companies actually do listen to what their fans say, hence why there may be debates over the internet. Most likely, turn-based combat and isometric viewpoints are stuck in the past, but Bethesda does react to criticism, and yet we have people here criticizing a game and praising the features of another/others, yet they haven't played the others. So, then we end up getting a game full of features many people didn't really want but thought they would praise because it was cool to do so. It reminds me of a little kid walking into an ice cream store, asking for chocolate, and then complaining about how they got chocolate when they wanted vanilla. You can get what you ask for, so ask carefully and choose what you want.

But than again, we are considering that Beth Fallout license bought and while at the same time, they got an engine already at their disposal. This is why I would say along the line that Beth do listen, but listen to what the Elder Scroll fan complain about. Everything that was complain in Oblivion was made enhance to a way we would see that it starting to resemble Morrowind in many shape or form. I don't think they were aware of the Fallout Community and rather than getting their input, they just look into the Fallout games, pick some goodies, and place it all over the place in Fallout 3.

That is what Fallout 3 is. Input of complain from Oblivion with their vision of how they place many Fallout "material" into the map.

The game does svck. Lousy release, tons of bugs.

Fallout NV is a very good game. It's well put together, and i've spent over 200 hrs playing it. I will say that fallout 3 had a certain ambiance/post apocalyptic feel to it that fallout NV lacked, multiple factors can be attributed to this, but I would go into more detail if I had the motivation to do so. Basically, I liked the urban environment quite a bit more in fallout 3....NV really didn't have (much of) an urban environment. I also liked the fact that they mixed in a lot of old American History into FO3. I digress, it is just a matter of personal opinion. Also, never even heard of fallout until fallout 3 came out, I wanted that to be known so that i could be cast into the "lazy fallout 3 really devoted fan" group.

edit: lol i can't believe that this forum filters out the word "f a n b o y" (which is what i originally wrote instead of devoted fan :-\)

Elitism does come from all sides in many debates, I would agree. I know someone who just will not leave me be and let me play the games I want to play. Instead, he seems to feel the need to insist that only nerds play RPGs of any kind and that Call of Duty is what's really good. I can't stand that. It happens from all sides, but surely there is no NMA for Fallout 3 players, yet.

I can agree to a certain extent. Fallout 3 had the ambience, it just wasnt that really thought out. I mean comon, its 200 years after the war..anyways.

Yeah, FO3 did have a better Urban Envirement, and since I live in the DC Metro Area, it was cool seeing all the places I go to alot in Post-Apacalytia. I swear I saw my house in FO3..

And yup, one of my favorite things in FO3 was the museums. In the Technology one, there is a ton of informative stuff.

What point of mine are actually answering here? No matter...

You have a nice list of hyperbole there, can't deny that. But if that's all you see when you see criticism of Fallout 3, I can't help it. Have fun arguing with yourself, you can always end that with a result you prefer. :P

I have to disagree with the OP. While NV does have its share of problems and faults, its hardly terrible. I have found the game to offer many challenges I faced in Fallouts 1 and 2, such as items and gear being harder to come by, caps being harder to earn, and the fact that enemies are, at any level, a serious threat.

In FO3, I could rampage my way across the capital wasteland and dominate anything, from Super Mutant Masters to Deathclaws, there was nothing that could stand against my character. However, in New Vegas, the tables have been turned around completely. Every combat situation must be approached with caution. Creatures such as Deathclaws live up to their name once more as they have, so far in my journey, been the greatest threat I have come across. Super Mutants are very much super. Even raiders pose serious concern as they can, with numbers and well placed shots, reduce you to a smoldering heap of goo or ash.

I have also found the lack of readily available stimpacks and rad reducing chems in the Mojave to provide much of the old challenges from FO 1 and 2 brought back in full force. The reduced number of these items forces the player to act more strategically, than run 'n' gun their way through the game. It also makes equipment management more vital as well, especially in hardcoe mode. You have to keep an eye on your number of stims and chems, as they are VERY precious now, unless youve discovered the secret to making millions of caps to keep buying them from vendors.

That is another renewed challenge in Fallout New Vegas, making caps. Making money is vastly harder in New Vegas than it was in FO3. Quests pay a lot less, even if you can speech or barter more caps out of the people you quest for. Readily available items off of enemies are worth a lot less as well.

The addition of things like the realoading bench and different ammo types adds more levels of versitility to the game. Now players have to evaluate their enemies and use the appropirate ammo to bring them down.

My biggest gripes with FO New Vegas are the bugs and broken quests. Fix those, and this game will be able to stand toe to toe with FO 3.

If I had things my way, everyone would state "in my opinion" after everything that is truly an opinion. That's my made-up result.

alex... stop feeding the seti troll. He seems to just want to argue or something.

NV does have a lot of bugs and can be infuriating at times, but it also has loads more depth to all of the characters. NV just has a more developed story than 3 (Notice I did NOT say better, because people seem to find that offensive). If you like stories it is a great game, if you like to just wander around shooting random things it is not as good as FO 3.

PS: never had a problem with NWN2 and I enjoyed it for what it was. The DnD PnP style stat system has always been cheesy when implemented in computer games, but the actual role playing elements of the games more than compensate for that.

Enough! If I have the time in a bit to go through this and hand out warns for flaming, flamebaiting and name calling I will be here for hours. I may and I may not. Depends how long my pies take. Now...the thread is locked and the warning will be decided later.
