did you buy a 360 just for Skyrim?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 8:55 pm

I don't have a Xbox360 anymore. But I did get one just for Oblivion when it came out and enjoyed many other games afterwards. I got the dreaded red ring of death several times though, the last one right after it went out of warrenty and didn't buy another one. Rather I invested in my computer, which I did upgrade again with a Phenom Quad core and a Raedon 6870 and am a computer gamer once again.

Yeah, bought a 360 elite 120gb from my friend for 60$. Had a 20gb premium back in the day, glad to have got it on 360 versus ps3, cheaper, a great deal more stable... but ah yeh, got battlefield 3 as well. I like the 360, nice system and I owned the old xbox too. Friend has my old fallout/oblivion files on his memory card, so luckily I can get those back as well!

I see alot of comments about PC not dieing, but its true. The only people using them after 5 years from now are diehards and programmers. I like the PC much like anyone else because I started them with Doom1 when I was a baby.

Everyone is sadly moving to the consoles or things like the iPhone/iPad. Face it, how many people do you know actually play the PC? Then start dividing those who play the PC and who actually have a genuine interest for it? PC is alot more complex than consoles or a simple iPhone and only programmers/artists/other specialized niche areas will continue to use them in the future.

Skyrim probably got alot more PC sales because of its promise for mods. If it wasn't for that, alot more would of thrown it at a console so our friends could play it to.

PC gaming is dying because companies are too lazy to make a PC game. I don't blame them. Console games bring more money and it's a lot more difficult to make a PC game than a console game.

It comes down to the almighty dollar. Its sad really, in 5 more years all you'll see are more super hero movie remakes and more of the same boring games. Assassins creed 9, MW8, etc. No one makes games for entertainment value anymore, its all about money. And if someone somewhere does make a game for any reason other than money and is successful, they will be bought and ruined.

Picking from your comment, Toiler Paper games are dieing because companies are to lazy to make games for the toilet paper?

Its a outrageous anology but my point is that if their is no market for it, companies will not make games for it. It's not called lazyness btw, its them being fracked up in the head on what to do.

And thats cause its base hardware is alot worse then the Xbox. Xbox GPU, video card, is more then twice as strong as the PS3.

Please... stop spreading false informations!

PS3 has better hardware, it's just a lot harder to develop on it because of the custom architecture. On the other hand, the xbox has the same architecture as a PC so it's easier to develop on it since game are developped on PCs.

But hardware wise, the xbox is the lowest common denominator. (that does not mean that is not a great machine)

Not really. Which ever one you use more feels normal. To me, the XBOX controller just seems freakin FAT. (well it is, thats not just me)

I disagree. I won't argue that one is better than the other but I've used the ps controller for much longer before just recently buying a 360 controller for the pc and it definatly feels like a huge improvement. It's not just a matter of habbit, it's about how your hands match each controller.

I bought a 360 for Skyrim.... I am happy to have discovered gears, forza and halo...... but my main reason for buy it was for Skyrim.... anyone else buy a 360 for Skyrim? are you a happy customer?

You think I have nothing else to spend my money?

PC take a lot of time, and also money. If I had console I would most likely be playing 24/7, and be completely broke. Im playing on PC because I know that I couldnt win with myself. I just cant say no to playing..

You don't suffer from it when you buy your platform of choice. You suffer from it after a while :P

By the way most people suffer from cognitive dissonance to some extent. The procedure is something like this:
- you desire something
- you buy that thing
- you have a feeling that you made the wrong choice (this is called buyer's remorse)
- this causes cognitive dissonance
- you reduce the dissonance by either criticizing the product you didn't choose or by becoming very biased to thinking that you made the right choice, despite any contrary evidence

As I said in that post, this topic is very similar to religion. There was a study which examined the brain activity of Apple users. It turned out that the same areas of their brain showed activity when they saw pictures of Apple product as when religious pictures were shown to religious people.

The process is very similar so that's why arguing about this topic doesn't go anywhere because both sides are very biased to their choice of platform due to the above mentioned things. But it's entertaining and quality food for trolling and flaming just like iPhone vs Android, Windows vs Linux, etc. :P

that explains some of the behavior of some of my machead friends. apple could release a toaster that burned down houses 50% of the time and all they would do is tout how awesome it was because it ONLY burned down half of the houses.
