I took a wrong turn and ended up at the end of a massive Forsworn camp, a hagraven began to attack me, and then 4 other forsworn, to make matters worst it was a out door dungeon so a dragon spawn the whole place went to hell and another dragon spawned...Soon every one was killing each other....I had to fight my way out of the area. So hagravens backed up with forsowrn are DEADLY.

At various levels I've had problems with everything people have mentioned. Now that I'm level 70 with really nice weapons/gear, there isn't much that scare me at all. I handle everything including Ancient Dragons and multiple Deathlords on master with ease. Recently I stumbled into the 2 hagravens that were creating a Briarheart near Bairds Leap and got wasted quickly. Briarhearts can still suprise you even if you feel pretty godly...

Krosis, especially if you trigger him around level 15 while you're trying to sneak and get a cheap shot in on the sleeping dragon at Shearpoint, which does what? It wakes the dragon, which means what? You get to fight both of them at the same time. I just hope you have a companion and plenty of healing potions with you. And shall we not forget the random encounter with a snow bear should you stray too far outside the area while trying to get a better position? This gives you three. Fun times. Fun times.

This still does not beat the two hrs I spent in Oblivion running away from an unseen enemy that even followed me into my house. Guards were attacking me and I couldn't figure out why. And now because I'd killed a few guards in self-defense they really were after me. Finally I went to third person view.... I'd been diving for treasure and ended up with a mud crab on my head. It was stuck there. I had to reload.

Kvenel the Tongue. I expected him to be just another draugr. I was wrong.

I saw a mudcrab the other day. Horrible little beasts.

That naked mage undernesth the meadery... During the thieves guild quest

That guy's brutal. It's the only quest I've ever done where I had to leave to get better equipment and then come back. Invisibility potion + backstab. In close melee he's a wuss though. So even if you don't kill him in one blow he's still very killable thereafter.

For me it's trying to fight elder dragons at the college in Winterhold. It's gotten to the point where every time I go there I will get attacked by one. Even with a follower to distract them it's still a huge fight. What I've learned to do is flee into town and hide under the porch of the inn. For whatever reason, they can't get to you there. Then when you figure out where they're going to land, you can run out, hit them a couple of times with a bow or a spell and then get back under cover.

I'll join in with some others who have mentioned wisp mothers. Brutal.

For those who hate Frost Trolls and that are on lower levels, they're actually easy and present great soul capturing opportunities. Paralyze, soultrap, and then hack away at them while they're down using a fire weapon or fire magic. Otherwise, all you get for the trouble is a little bowl of Trollfat. Pretty weak. As for up close and personal toe to toe fighting with trolls: don't do it.

Another annoying and hard-to-kill enemy is that :swear: Hagraven in Hag's End.
Spoiler
It's kind of DB related, you get a mini-quest related to it if you choose to kill... the son of... somebody, inside city walls.

She keeps disappearing, reappearing, flying and doing other confusing stunts. All while she's shooting endlessly recharging fireballs at me.

Dragon priests. Hands down. On any difficulty other than novice or apprentice, I usually have to resort to using exploits to kill it (like finding an area it can't reach and picking it off with arrows), especially at low levels. The worst bit is, if you see one, you are usually stuck in a room with him and HAVE to kill him, whereas with a dragon, you can just become etherial and run away.

Frost trolls are brutal at low levels but at high levels are a joke. The Falmer are difficult only because they tend to swarm you, but a companion/summoned creature tends to offset that effect. Ice mages can be difficult for a non nord melee only character because sometimes their frost attacks can slow you down so much that they can run backwards faster than you can run at them.

As stated a few times already, the hagravens/forsworn combo. If you're especially not very well protected against fire, their fireballs are pretty lethal. Add to that some savage whirlwinds from dual-wielding savages, and it's pretty challenging to heal yourself.

No doubt, the very first one on the way to High Hrothgar was impossible for me. After many failed attempts I just ran. After gaining several levels, and having some decent spells/armor/weapons/shouts, I wasn't very afraid of them anymore.

Theres some hard ones.

Trolls are hard. Frost trolls are the worst.
Orchander in the Perydrite quest is hard. My mage stopped using her usual duelwielding magic after realising that he was immune to everything and meleed him with a sword and shield. The only tactic that worked was mage punching.
Krosis is grim. Morkai went down with mage punching and a sword and shield and ironflesh.
Snow bears are bad.
Whispmothers are very hard.
Chorus are horrible.
If snow sabre cats go over 2 of them, you are in trouble sometimes. Especially with the sneaking up behind you and hitting you.
Blood dragons are very hard sometimes. I got stalked by the same blood dragon all over parts of skyrim sometimes. One very hard one lurked in winterhold and over the mages college for 3 days straight whenever I went there. I think it was the same one every time. It only ended when I gained levels and killed it.
Deathlords are very hard. They kill you in one shot sometimes. :(

On my 2nd character, I ran into Krosis while around level 20. Saved right before the fight, and had to reload several times. Didn't help that for some reason the dremora I would summon from sanguine rose would decide to attack me instead of Krosis. After couple reloads he finally stayed loyal, and then things were easy when krosis floated over the edge and went down the mountain. Just spammed bound bow arrows from angle where his staff of fireball couldn't hit me. lol

Frost trolls... I can kill them with like three arrows now and yet I still get the shivers whenever I fight them because of how hard they are early in the game.

Ice mages... I was fighting the Battle of Karthspire earlier today and I got hit by the ice mage spikes so many times that I literally HOPPED to her in order to chop her down. I could barely walk... but I could jump :)

Dragon Priests and Ancient Dragons are currently the highest level enemies in Skyrim. Both are level 50.

There is a place in Skyrim that (If you are high level) you gotta find both a Dragon Priest and an Ancient Dragon at the same time while having to worry about the nearby Draugr and Skeletons that MAY join the battle... That is by far one of my favorite battles I've had as well as one of the hardest.. Specially if I don't have any or much magical defenses.

I think the worst I've had so far are Draugr Dearh Overlords, but I havent fought any Dragon Priests or Ancient Dragons. But the first time I fought one, at level 26 doing Eola's quest, wasnt so bad. He gets up from his throne, so in sneak mode I fire an arrow at him from my Glass Bow. Sneak Attack 2x damage! He just stands there. So I fire another arrow. Sneak Attack! And another. Sneak Attack! He never moved. Maybe I should have taken some screenshots. :P

During early character levels 5 -20 I could be swarmed by 2-3 Falmer, and still take them down, quaffing a few pots in the process, but if a Chaurus was near I'd run the other way, and try to fire arrows, flee , repeat. Otherwise, one crunch with their mandibles and I was chopped liver. At level 50, I'm almost godlike, but I was ko'd for the first time in the last 40 play hours by a combination of a Forsworn BriarHeart launching master class frost clouds while hyper juking around. While dodging his blasts, and trying to zoom my bow shots in I didn't see the Hargraven pop out of her tent hive. She knocked me clean off the hillside with a mega fire bomb spell. This was with 60% fire resistance, plus potion top ups... "Legendary" embony armor made irrelevant, 'twas instant death. And as I'm looking at my character slowly sliding down the hillside an Ancient Dragon silently passes over, probably thinking "Dov, you are such a wimp....."

Love this game

Sure, Wispmothers are hard, but it you can't compare them to Ancient Dragons. Plus, with my high-leveled Illusion, I can get them with Pacify.

As for Krosis, it was one of my hardest fights ever during my first playthrough, but on my second I defeated him pretty easily (just with arrow shots, without loosing half my health, but I defeated him really late on the game, so it's probably him).
I killed Otar with 3 sneaky arrow shots. Easy...

Well, it can't be Wispmothers, nor Otar or the other Dragon Priests (besides Krosis), so I'd either go with Ancients or Krosis. Ancients can be found asleep, therefore being easy to kill with sneak attacks, so I'll go with Krosis.

Adept difficulty.

Krosis used two spells and then decided to stop fighting. He just hovered around in slow arcs while I failed to hit him with arrows. Eventually he backed into a pine tree and Lydia caught up with him.

The Dragon Priests so far I think. One time I had to fight a Dragon Priest and a dragon at the same time. When in doubt, break out the Sanguine Rose!

i think my hardest fight so far both on now deceased 2X sneak char and 3X pure-mage was volsung. Somehow most of the times i was dying in 1 or 2 shots so even if i did retry a couple of fights that one really made my heart bump. Worst on the mage X_X 1 down 7 to go :/

I believe all Dragon Priests have the spell "Command Daedra" which, as you might guess, lets them take command of Daedra that you have summoned. Command Daedra is an Expert spell which leads me to believe that it's level-capped. I have attacked all Dragon Priests with summoned Daedra and have yet to have one turned on me. I suspect that they can only turn Daedra under level 35 or so, which would exempt Dremora Valkynaz and Markynaz. These Dremora are summoned from the Sanguine Rose at higher levels.

It sounds like the OP is lacking in magic resistance. It's an easy mistake to make, especially since magic resistance does not come on many enchantment slots.

Picking up the Lord's Stone (25% resist), Agent of Mara (15% resist), and Alteration perks (10-30%) will go a long way to making these encounters easier. In the absence of that, elemental and magic resist potions are easy to acquire and can be used as a spot defense.
